1 ER24 TRAINING ACADEMY MANOR 4, CAMBRIDGE MANOR OFFICE PARK, CNR. WITKOPPEN AND STONEHAVEN, PAULSHOF, SANDTON PO BOX 242 PAULSHOF 2056 TEL: FAX: WEB ADDRESS: ER24 Training Academy Training Prospectus The ER24 Training Academy offers a broad, as well as unique, training experience for the company or individual seeking high quality emergency training. By offering a combination of current and medically audited training with our visual media and hands on, one on one student interaction, we are evolving into a marketplace leader in the pre-hospital first aid and emergency care training market. EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONDER COURSES Emergency First Responder - Level 1 is a two day course covering the basics in First Aid, CPR, choking, impaled object management, fracture management and bleeding control. It is also the minimum requirement by the DoL and H&S act. Emergency First Responder Level 2 is a three day course covering most of first aid s essential information. Additional theory and practical tuition include: Rescue carry methods, water rescues and environmental emergencies. Emergency First Responder - Level 3 is a five day course and is the highest pre-hospital emergency qualification the layman can achieve. The course covers theory and practical tuition on almost every possible scenario from poisonings to childbirth and diabetes.
2 Advanced First Responder : is an American based course and is designed for out of South African borders. The course is targeted at the current level 3 first-aider and has the addition of mechanical ventilation and oxygen therapy, as well as base line vital signs monitoring, using specific devices. A unique course that encompasses advanced trauma management training and medical emergencies. PedFacts (Child First Aid): Caregivers and teachers need to know what to do when a child is injured or becomes suddenly and severely ill. Most injuries that require first aid are not life-threatening. Usually first aid involves simple, common sense procedures. However first aid can sometimes mean the difference between life and death. All caregivers and teachers should have paediatric first aid training. The PedFACTS course is designed to give caregivers and teachers the education and confidence they need to effectively care for children. Sports First Aid and Injury Prevention: When athletes become ill or injured during practice or competition, coaches and athletic trainers need to know how to respond. Whether on the court, field, in the pool or the gym, coaches and trainers must be prepared to handle common injuries and illnesses they will likely encounter while coaching their sport. Sports First Aid and Injury Prevention teaches coaches and trainers how to administer basic first aid to sick and injured athletes as well as ways to prevent illnesses and injuries from occurring. Wilderness orientated First Aid Courses: First Aid Courses specifically orientated towards extra-urban first aid, aligned to conventional First Aid curriculums. First Aid Refresher courses: can be offered when a first-aid certificate expires after three years. The candidate is updated on the newest developments in medicine and refreshed on theory that hasn t changed. Refreshers can be offered on all first aid courses. AED and CPR for Adult, Child and Infant: A one day course for friends and family who only need to know the basics surrounding CPR for all ages. PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL COURSES BLS for Healthcare Providers: The BLS Healthcare Provider Course teaches the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bagvalve-mask device, and oxygen), use of an AED, and relief of a Foreign Body Airway Obstruction. The course is designed for healthcare providers who care for patients in a wide variety of settings, both in and out of hospital.
3 Professional Rescuer CPR: Specifically designed for health care professionals, paramedic, including allied health workers, nurses and physicians, this robust training programme teaches the knowledge and skills necessary to recognise and treat life-threatening respiratory and cardiac emergencies. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) for EMT-B (Basics): The EMT- Basic can find themselves in critical situations that require advanced cardiac life support (ACLS). Although EMT-Basics are not trained to provide advanced-level skills, there is much they can do to improve the quality of management and the patient's chance for survival by understanding ACLS and facilitating its administration by ALS providers. ACLS for EMT-Basics familiarises the reader with cardiac emergencies and the skills used to manage them. Paediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Providers (PEPP): represents a comprehensive source of pre-hospital medical information for the emergency care of infants and children. PEPP is designed to give pre-hospital professionals the education, skills, and confidence they need to effectively treat paediatric patients. Developed by the American Academy of Paediatrics, PEPP specifically teaches prehospital professionals how to better access and manage ill or injured children. PEPP combines complete medical content with dynamic features and an interactive course to better prepare pre-hospital professionals for the field. The one-day BLS course is geared towards First Responders and EMT-Basics, while the two-day ALS course is for EMT-Intermediate and Paramedic providers. HEALTH AND SAFETY COURSES Introduction to Occupational Health & Safety This one day course introduces the employee to the basic principles of OHS. Students are given a basic understanding of legal requirements and the responsibilities of both the employer and employee. Conduct Safety and health representative activities OHS representatives need to understand what is expected of them in the workplace. This two day course focuses on the specific tasks and functions of OHS representatives. Apply occupational health, safety and environmental principles In this two day course the emphasis is placed on implementing OHS strategies, as well as training methodology. Training of staff is an integral part of OHS and probably the most neglected component of all.
