1 Regards sur les jardins familiaux en Lettonie Au cours de la 4me réunion de Cost ayant eu comme sujet: «Urban Allotments in European cities» les représentants de l Office et les chercheurs ont pu visiter des jardins familiaux à Riga et à Cĕsis. Ils ont pu apprendre beaucoup sur l histoire et les problèmes actuels de ces jardins familiaux. Des expériences ont pu être échangées. Les participants ont constaté qu à côté des spécificités locales les jardiniers associés partagent à travers toute l Europe les mêmes joies et les mêmes soucis. 47 MAIN PROBLEMS CONFLICTS Due to spatial marginalization of allotment sites allotments are becoming less accessible Short lease terms (in % of allotment plots were available only for 1 year lease) No support from city for infrastructure Absence of allotment rules and building regulations Insufficient administrational governance Insecure social environment (homeless people) Low aesthetic value is typical to some allotments (mainly short term lease areas)
