1 Get started guide Uppsala University thesis template for Word For information on the template and thesis publishing, please visit This document will help you set up the template used for most doctoral theses presented at Uppsala University. The template will make it easier for you to follow the guidelines regarding layout and speed up the process of preparing the thesis for print and electronic publishing. 3 Word 2003 for Windows 2. Download the template for Word 2003 by right-clicking the link Word 2003 and saving the file to your desktop. The template is called UUThesis-Word2003.dot. 3. Find the template UUThesis-Word2003.dot on the desktop. Right-click the template and click Cut (Klipp ut). The icon will become slightly greyed out. 4. Open Word 2003 and click File (Arkiv Nytt ). The panel document (Nytt document) will appear to the right on the screen. 5. Under the heading Templates (Mallar), click On my computer (På datorn ) 6. In the window Templates (Mallar), which is now open, right-click in the empty space and click Paste (Klistra in). The template UUThesis-Word2003 is now installed and you can close the window by clicking Cancel (Avbryt). 1. Open Word 2003 and click File (Arkiv Nytt ). The panel document (Nytt document) will appear to the right on the screen. 2. Under the heading Templates (Mallar), click On my computer (På datorn ). 3. Find the template UUThesis-Word2003 and double-click it to create a new document. 1. Click Tools Templates and addins (Verktyg Mallar och tillägg ). 2. Click (Koppla ), select UUThesis-Word2003.dot and click Open (Öppna). 3. Check the box Automatically update document styles The UU Menu toolbar You will find a toolbar in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. 4 Word 2007 for Windows 2. Download the template for Word 2007 by right-clicking the link Word 2007 and saving the file to your desktop. The template is called UUThesis-Word2007.dotm and there should be an exclamation mark on the icon. 3. Find the template UUThesis-Word2007.dot on the desktop. At the bottom of the window, set the dropdown Manage: Templates (Hantera: Mallar) and click OK 3. Click (Koppla ), select UUThesis-Word2007.dot and click Open (Öppna). 4. 5 Word 2010 for Windows 2. Download the template for Word 2010 by right-clicking the link Word 2010 and saving the file to your desktop. The template is called UUThesis-Word2010.dotm and there should be an exclamation mark on the icon. 3. Find the template UUThesis-Word2010.dot on the desktop. 6 Word 2004 for Mac OS 2. Download the template for Word 2004 by right-clicking the link Word 2004 and saving the file to your desktop. The template is called UUThesis-Word2004.dot. 3. Open Word 2004 and click File Open (Arkiv Öppna ). Select the template on your desktop and click Open (Öppna). The template will open. 4. Click File Save as (Arkiv Spara som ) and save a copy of the template in the preset destination (My templates or Mina mallar) by clicking Save (Spara). 5. Close the template and delete the original UUThesis-Word2004.dot that you downloaded. 1. Open Word 2004 and click File Project gallery (Arkiv Projektgalleriet ). 2. Click the tab (Ny) and then My templates (Mina mallar) from the list to the left. 3. Find UUThesis-Word2004 and double-click it to create a new document. 1. 8 Word 2011 for Mac OS 2. Download the template for Word 2011 by right-clicking the link Word 2011 and saving the file to your desktop. The template is called UUThesis-Word2011.dotm and there should be an exclamation mark on the icon. 3. Open Word 2011 and click File Open (Arkiv Öppna ). Select the template on your desktop and click Open (Öppna). The template will open. 4. Click File Save as (Arkiv Spara som ) and save a copy of the template in the preset destination (My templates or Mina mallar) by clicking Save (Spara). 5. Close the template and delete the original UUThesis-Word2011.dotm that you downloaded. 1. Open Word 2011 and click File from template My templates (Arkiv Ny från mall Mina mallar). 2.
