10 Intesa Sanpaolo s presence in China BANKING Qingdao City Commercial Bank (QCCB) In July 2007, Intesa Sanpaolo acquired a 9.9% stake in Qingdao City Commercial Bank. QCCB has total assets of approximately USD 3 billion and 39 branches in Qingdao, the main economic centre of Shandong province. The transaction makes Intesa Sanpaolo the first Italian banking Institution to realise a direct investment in a Chinese Bank BANCASSURANCE Union Life In February 2007, the Intesa Sanpaolo Group acquired a 9.9% stake in Union Life, a company ranked among top ten of the market ASSET MANAGEMENT Penghua Fund Management In April 2007, the Intesa Sanpaolo Group acquired a 49% stake in Penghua Fund Management, one of the main asset management companies in the Chinese market CONSULTANCY AND ASSISTANCE SERVICES Sibac Mandarin Fund In more recent years Intesa Sanpaolo has strengthened business relationships with China through the setting up of a joint venture, named Shanghai Sino - Italy Business Advising Company (Sibac), formed with Simest (the company for the promotion of Italian Business abroad) and Bank of China, and a private equity fund, named Mandarin Fund, established with China Investment Bank and Export-Import Bank of China to support businesses expanding in the Chinese and Italian markets 0
