2 About DMRC Innovation & Leadership Delhi Metro is one of the most environmentally and socially conscious organization operating in India. Delhi Metro is actively working on projects in transportation sector with an intention to improve social life. Transporting 2.5 million passenger daily is expected to be among top 5 Metro system across globe in next couple of year. Delhi Metro aims to provide safe, reliable, punctual and efficient transportation to its passengers.

10 Lessons learnt For a government entity overcoming institutional barrier to apply for a new concept like CDM and design project on that is challenging and institutional capacity needs to be build. Same is true for any new upcoming mechanism targeted to reduce emission. Non commercial incentive also provides substantial motivation for government departments such as recognition both at national and international level. First movers face barrier but are also rewarded. Robust monitoring mechanism is a must for efficient implementation Securing Carbon Revenue a challenge to be addressed at project inception and planning.

11 Summary Delhi Metro has successfully availed carbon credit for a number of its initiatives like regenerative braking, Modal Shift and energy efficiency measures taken at Metro Stations. Delhi Metro has in-house team of experts focused on reducing GHG emission and monitoring it. They are working on many projects including Solar Power, Transportation, Green Building etc. The Registered projects are expected to generate around a million Carbon Credits annually. Reduction in CER price is detrimental to excellent progress made by Delhi Metro in reducing anthropogenic GHG and associated environmental and health benefit. In light of fall in CER price Delhi Metro is exploring alternative Market based mechanism and NAMA.
