1 Kids Corps of Discovery YOUTH ADVENTURE PROGRAMS FOR SUMMER 2016 The Kids Corps of Discovery is an immersion program that replaces screen time with serene time and idle time with the time of your child s life. Age-appropriate itineraries are available for toddlers, teens and in-betweens. The Little Discoverers (ages 3 5) will engage in everything from making pizza and ice cream to pony rides and an Old West treasure hunt. Adventure Club (ages 6 12) participants will race go-karts, do cannonballs off a rope swing at the lake, shoot arrows and mine for sapphires. They ll all eat delicious and healthy meals and make a ton of new friends. And they ll do things they never thought they could. 2 Little Discoverers (Ages 3 5) If only you got a nickel for every time your four- or five-year-old asks why? You d never want to discourage his or her curiosity, but sometimes you just don t know the answer or don t have the energy to give your typical Wikipedia-esque explanations. The Little Discoverers program will give your little smarty-pants a week full of whats behind the whys. The Little Discoverers will use all of their senses to immerse themselves in the history, environment and wildlife that define Montana. New friends, food that ll appeal to all levels of pickiness and never-did-that-before activities will make for a week they ll never forget. Why? Just because! SUNDAY The day begins in the historic Bull Barn. Don t worry, parents; we evicted the entitled bovines that used to occupy this place and turned the barn into the ideal venue for fun, educational activities. In the morning, the Little Discoverers will learn how to make pizza from scratch (which they ll eat for lunch) while also enjoying a variety of classic schoolyard games. In the afternoon, they ll head to the river where they ll play on the sandy beaches of the famous Blackfoot, splash in the wading pool and craft in the shade. MONDAY No one looks forward to Mondays, except maybe the three-, four- and five-year-old children on vacation at Paws Up. Where else does a Monday morning consist of pony rides, tree house play (ours has even been known to turn into a pirate ship from time to time) and making animal masks? It just gets better from there with an afternoon splash into Harper s Lake with squirt guns, water floaties and so much more. In the evening, an epic game of capture the flag will ensue. TUESDAY What better way to enjoy a warm Montana summer day than by playing all sorts of water games? They ll start the morning with pony rides and dramatic play before strapping on life vests and heading to the Blackfoot River to learn how to cliff jump. Don t worry, parents, you ve stepped off of sidewalks that are taller than our rock, but the kids will have a blast doing it all the same! WEDNESDAY We re not bringing in camels for hump day, but we ll have pretty much everything else. The morning will be spent grooming, painting and washing horses. After lunch they ll head to Harper s Lake for an afternoon spent splashing in the water, playing drip, drip, dunk, catching butterflies and painting in the shade. THURSDAY This is a day dedicated to the rich Old West history of these parts. The Little Discoverers will be taken back to a simpler time when the only broadband that existed was the fiddle quartet that played at the local saloon. The kids will head up to Garnet Ghost Town in the morning to learn about the history of the once-flourishing mining town. After a delicious lunch, they ll head back to base camp where they ll get changed to head to the river. They ll spend the afternoon on the banks of the Blackfoot, shooting marshmallow guns, panning for gold and amethyst and splashing around. In the evening, they ll have a classic Western cookout with a bonfire, hot dogs, s mores and moonshine (the ambient light, not the beverage) and then engage in several rounds of capture the flag. FRIDAY The morning will start with pony rides, crafts and hide and seek. Shifting gears in the afternoon, they ll strengthen their critical thinking, deductive and observation skills as they search for a list of treasures in the great outdoors. SATURDAY All age groups will combine in the morning to get up close and personal with wild animals that are native to Montana as well as other regions of the world. Animal experts overseeing animals accustomed to being around children will make the experience safe and educational. The Little Discoverers will then spend the afternoon relaxing at Harper s Lake.

3 Adventure Club (Ages 6 12) I m bored. There s nothing to do. How many times have you heard those famous words from your pre-teen? The Adventure Club at Paws Up was specifically designed to eliminate such phrases. Even for just a week, wouldn t it be nice to hear things like Guess what I did today? or I want to do that again. We ve concocted the perfect combination of adventure, education and fun to provide experiences and memories that will last a lifetime. And the next time they say they re bored, you can tell them to reflect on their time at The Last Best Place. It s the gift that keeps on giving. SUNDAY The day begins in the historic Bull Barn. MONDAY Adventure Club members will start their Monday and their engines at the Greenough 500, our exhilarating gokart track. After careening around the track for several laps, they ll unwind with a craft. In the afternoon, it s time to get wet and wild with a rope swing and child-size kayaks at Harper s Lake. In the evening, an epic game of capture the flag will ensue the more the merrier, so tell your friends! TUESDAY If your kids didn t appreciate the great outdoors before today, they will by the end of it. They ll begin the day participating in an outdoor canvas painting class, followed by geocaching. After that, it s time to go jump in a river the Blackfoot River, that is. They ll enjoy swimming and a variety of water games and try their hands at archery on the riverbank. WEDNESDAY We re not bringing in camels for hump day, but we ll have pretty much everything else. The morning will be spent grooming, painting and washing horses and fishing in a stocked pond. After lunch, they ll head to Harper s Lake for an afternoon spent splashing in the water, learning to make dream catchers (fitting, because this day has to be every kid s dream) and playing outdoor games. THURSDAY This is a day dedicated to the rich Old West history of these parts. Adventure Club members will be taken back to a simpler time when the only broadband that existed was the fiddle quartet that played at the local saloon. They ll head up to Garnet Ghost Town in the morning to learn about the history of the once-flourishing mining town. They ll then head back to camp, where the afternoon will be spent on the banks of the Blackfoot River, throwing hatchets (real ones, seriously), mining some special dirt in search of real sapphires and cooling off in the water. As if that wasn t enough, in the evening they ll enjoy a bonfire and Western style BBQ cookout before engaging in another epic game of capture the flag. FRIDAY The Adventure Club kids will spend Friday morning practicing their sharpshooter skills at the Old West.22 Rifle Range. Friday afternoon, the participants will once again get their zoom on at the Greenough 500 Go-Kart Course. An exciting shaving cream war awaits later that afternoon at the Kids Camp battleground, followed by a good, old fashioned water fight to clean off all the cream. SATURDAY All age groups will combine in the morning to get up close and personal with wild animals that are native to Montana as well as other regions of the world. Animal experts overseeing animals accustomed to being around children will make the experience safe and educational. Then, members will spend the afternoon at Harper s Lake jumping off the rope swing and playing giant lawn games like Jenga and pick-up sticks. In the evening, the kids will enjoy dinner (complete with root beer floats) and a movie at the Kids Camp yurt.

4 Teens (Ages 13 17) If only you could get your teens away from their phones just long enough to discover that there s more to life than Snapchat. That a real smile means a heck of a lot more than an emoji. That verbal conversation can be more enjoyable than texting. But, they probably know all of this. They know everything, right? Well, then they also know that they are never too grown up to hang out with some other young folks looking for fun. MONDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHTS In the evening, after dinner at Kids Camp, an epic game of capture the flag will ensue between kids, teens and counselors. Tell your friends because the more, the merrier. Teens might act cool, but we know they ll never be too old for a round of this classic American competition.

5 Schedule and Pricing The Paws Up Kids Corps of Discovery is held seven days a week. Full-day and half-day sessions are available for children of all ages. Programs include organized, themed adventures, river float trips, paintball, crafts, treasure hunts, dramatic play, quiet story times and even feedings of the baby animals at the Cowpokes Corral. Themes and activities vary daily. PROGRAM SCHEDULES All Kids Corps of Discovery youth programs are offered on a set schedule. For current schedules, please contact Concierge Services or the Wilderness Outpost. RESERVATIONS To make youth program reservations prior to you re arrival, please contact Concierge Services; once on property, contact the Wilderness Outpost. We recommend booking with as much advance notice as possible. Nanny services require a 24-hour advance booking. Due to high demand, many reservations quickly fill to capacity. We cannot guarantee nanny availability. CANCELLATIONS All cancellations require 24-hour advance notice prior to youth program start time. All cancellations made within 24 hours, including no shows, will be charged full price. Youth programs are a rain or shine activity option; scheduled events may be altered and indoor options provided in the event of extreme weather conditions. Changes made to reservations within 24 hours may result in a service charge. ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE TIMES Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled program start time. All programs will depart no later than 10 minutes following scheduled start times. RESORT FEE AND GRATUITIES Gratuities can be made at the guest s discretion. Kids Corps of Discovery prices are not subject to a resort fee or additional sales tax. NOTE: Weather and fire restrictions as well as fisheryconservation measures may alter adventure schedules and programs. All program durations are approximate and can vary based on conditions.
