2 Setup Defining the main farm address To define the main farm address (internet connection required): 1. Click on the Setup menu. 2. Select Fields. 3. Click on the GIS tab. 4. You will be prompted to define the location of your farm. Note: For the most accurate initial address, we recommend Google Maps or Google Earth to find the GIS co-ordinates that s relatively centered for your fields. 1

3 From Google Maps: 1. Type the physical address in the search box. 2. Right-click in the middle of the field. Left-click on What s here? 3. Take latitude and longitude from Google Maps and type it in the Define Address Box. 4. You ll now have the address you need for the Field Setup in Field Manager PRO 360. From Google Earth: 1. Type the address in the search box.. 2. Left-click on Add Placemark to mark the location in the middle of the field. 3. Take latitude and longitude from Google Earth and type it in the Define Address Box. 4. You ll now have the address you need for the Field Setup in Field Manager PRO 360. Note: When using the co-ordinates from Google Earth to define the main farm address, you must replace any characters for degrees, minutes and seconds with a space. The latitude and longitude must be separated by a comma. 5. Enter the co-ordinates. Click OK. Note: Your software purchase covers 6,177 acres for the farm size. 4 Tracing Field Boundaries To trace field boundaries: 1. Click on the Setup menu. 2. Select Fields. 3. Click on the field you want to trace and click on the Edit button. 4. Click on the GIS tab. 5. Use the Draw Polygon tool to manually trace the field. Or import an.shp field boundary file from another GIS system by clicking the Import button. 6. To add more points to the Field Boundary, double-click on the Field Boundary. 7. Hold down the Alt key and click the region to manually remove pieces of the polygon. Note: Field boundaries can be changed each crop year. The system will remember how your operation looked in previous years. 3

5 Customize the GIS Farm View display colour for inputs To customize your fertilizer input colour: 1. Click on the Setup menu. 2. Select Fertilizer Inputs. 3. Select the Fertilizer from the Choose Fertilizer panel on the left and click. 4. Click to select the colour under the GIS Farm View Colour field. 5. Select your colour. 6. Click OK. 7. Click Save. 4

6 To customize your pesticide input colour: 1. Click on the Setup menu. 2. Select Pesticides Inputs. 3. Select the Pesticides from the Choose Pesticides panel on the left and click. 4. Click to select the colour under the GIS Farm View Colour field. 5. Select your colour. 6. Click OK. 7. Click Save. 5

7 To customize your crop input colour: 1. Click on the Setup menu. 2. Select Crops to Harvest. 3. Select the Crops from the Choose Crop panel on the left and click. 4. Click to select the colour under the GIS Farm View Colour field. 5. Select your colour. 6. Click OK. 7. Click Save. 6

8 Records Drawing GIS Data Draw spatial data into the GIS tab on Operation, Harvest, Soil Test Observation, Weather Observation, Pest Observation and Other Observation. 1. Click on the Records menu. 2. Select Operations, Harvest or Observation. 3. Click on the GIS tab. 4. Click on Draw Polygon to outline around the field you re viewing in the image. a. Click a corner of the polygon and drag it to a corner of your image. b. If you need more points on the polygon, double-click anywhere on the line to create a new drag point. To remove a point, double-click on the point. 5. Click on Draw Point to place a point on the field image. This could be used to indicate a rock, weed patch, soil test record, etc. 6. Click on Draw Line to draw a line on the image or to measure the distance between two points on the image. a. Click on one end and drag it around your image. b. Double-click anywhere on the line to create a new drag point. 7

9 Importing GIS Data from Equipment Import spatial data into the GIS tab on Operation, Harvest, Soil Test Observation, Weather Observation, Pest Observation and Other Observation. 1. Click on the Records menu. 2. Select Operations, Harvest or Observation. 3. Click on the GIS tab. 4. Click on the Import button. 5. The wizard lets you import geospatial data in various formats including the John Deere GreenStar system, Shapefiles (.shp files) and GPX (waypoints). 6. Select the data source format and click Next. 8

10 Shapefiles (.shp) (requires.shp +.shx +.dbf files present): 1. Click on the button and select the Shapefiles directory (.shp files). 2. Click Next. 3. Select the variable to import. Click Next. 4. Select the list of feature(s) to import by clicking Toggle All. 5. Click Next. 6. Click Import. JD Original GreenStar Display (PFDATA directory): 1. Click on the button and select the PFDATA directory. 2. Click Next. 3. Choose the operation(s) that you want to import for this field record. 4. Click on the Search button to retrieve relevant data from the selected operation(s) within your selected field boundary. 5. Click Next. 6. Select the variable to import. Click Next. 7. Select the list of feature(s) to import by clicking Toggle All. 8. Click Next. 9. Click Import. 9

11 JD GreenStar 1800/2600/2630 (RCD directory): 1. Click on the button and select the RCD directory. 2. Click Next. 3. Choose the operation(s) that you want to import for this field record. 4. Click on the Search button to retrieve relevant data from the selected operation(s) within your selected field boundary. 5. Click Next. 6. Select the variable to import. Click Next. 7. Select the list of feature(s) to import by clicking Toggle All. 8. Click Next. 9. Click Import. GPX (Waypoints): 1. Click on the button and select the GPX Waypoints. 2. Click Next. 3. Choose the operation(s) that you want to import for this field record. 4. Click on the Search button to retrieve relevant data from the selected operation(s) within your selected field boundary. 5. Click Next. 6. Select the variable to import. Click Next. 7. Select the list of feature(s) to import by clicking Toggle All. 8. Click Next. 9. Click Import. 10

12 GIS Farm View Using the GIS Farm View To use the GIS Farm View: 1. Click on the Records menu. 2. Select GIS Farm View. 3. The GIS Farm View is a visual representation of your total farm operations. This view will visually transpose your records for viewing. 11

13 Using the GIS Farm View to record Operations: 1. Click on the Records menu. 2. Select GIS Farm View. 3. Right click the desired field and select New. 4. Select one of the following: Operations Harvest 5. When you re done using the GIS Farm View, click Close. 12

14 Using the GIS Farm View to record Observations: 1. Click on the Records menu. 2. Select GIS Farm View. 3. Right click the desired field and select New. 4. Select one of the following: Soil Test Observation Pest Observation Weather Observation Other Observation 5. When you re done using the GIS Farm View, click Close. 13

15 Using the GIS Farm View to generate Reports: 1. Click on the Records menu. 2. Select GIS Farm View. 3. Right click the desired field and select Reports. 4. Select one of the following: Input Usage Irrigation Operation History Plant Density 5. When you re done using the GIS Farm View, click Close. 14
