3 Why Capital Talent? Through the work of London First for the London Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) on the Economic Development Agenda for London, we know lower skilled workers are not benefiting from London s growth and are likely to be further squeezed. Prospects experience delivering career guidance across London shows adults find it hard to meet with employers and explore opportunities for career progression and career change. Capital Talent is vital to support adults into work and encourage those in work who wish to up skill and develop their careers. The event runs on Friday and Saturday allowing a range of visitors to attend that need to visit outside of working hours. Our research findings indicate: London is increasingly moving towards a high skilled global talent hub As high-skilled jobs are growing we must ensure Londoners have the skills necessary to ensure the Capital remains competitive What is Capital Talent? Capital Talent will help Londoners upskill and train so the Capital has a better skilled workforce across a whole range of sectors to improve employability. As an exhibitor you will join top employers, trainers and advisers from across London meeting thousands potential recruits. This is your opportunity to influence and promote your organisation to the capital s workforce. Capital Talent is London s one-stop shop for jobs and careers from across the capital. It will give you the opportunity to advance your recruitment process. Whether you are at the initial stages of your campaign and deciding your objectives; are already aware of your requirements and person specifications; or are calling potential recruits to open days: Capital Talent will complement your existing work.

4 Who will visit? The organisers Capital Talent will attract up to 10,000 adults. Visitor groups will include those in work considering career progression, a change of direction or new skills whilst others may be seeking employment, returning to work or needing to find the road to the right career. Free entry will allow everyone to visit. Through the delivery of an innovative and targeted marketing and PR campaign Capital Talent will deliver your audience direct to the event. Elements of the campaign will include: Social media Direct mail Newspaper advertising Outdoor advertising Collaborative working with strategic partners including the National Careers Service London First and Prospects already have a proven reputation as successful event organisers in the jobs, training and careers arena, having successfully delivered Skills London at ExCeL since Skills London is an annual jobs and careers event attracting over 30, year olds. Skills London is supported by the Mayor of London. 185 organisations exhibit offering visitors over 40,000 job opportunities including Apprenticeships. London First and Prospects will use their experience and expertise to guarantee this winning formula is used to deliver Capital Talent.

5 The event format With over 100 exhibitors in year one, Capital Talent will be split into four distinct areas: 1. Capital Jobs If you are an employer this is the area for you. Featuring live and future vacancies that require the right people with the right skills. You have the option to select a location within a sector village and gain from highlighting your industry sector to relevant visitors. This area includes facilities enabling you to interview visitors and encourage online applications. 2. Capital Careers An area for professional bodies, Sector Skills Councils and other industry specific support services to promote their products, services and industry requirements. Career sectors range from construction and engineering, finance and HR, hospitality and health, plus many others. This is the area to ensure visitors know the great benefits that working in your specific sector brings. energise your job at pump up your career at

6 work your ambition at 3. Capital Training A range of training services will be on offer from colleges, universities and training organisations. The area will target lower-skilled individuals encouraging them to take their first step on the training ladder, and offer higher-skilled visitors a variety of options to upskill and improve their chances of career progression. activate your training at 4. Capital Ambition This area aims to inspire those in work who are perhaps looking to change career, increase their earning potential and job satisfaction. Experts will deliver advice and guidance on a range of options that may include franchise opportunities, business start-up, enterprise, volunteering and career coaching. Each of the four areas will include an open talent theatre hosting workshops, talks and seminars.
