4 APPLIED PHYSIOLOGY AND KINESIOLOGY Anatomical, physiological and psychological consequences to human movement and their relationship to health and disease. Ways to improve skills and maintain health for the typical person, disabled person and the high-level athlete. Specializations: Exercise Physiology Fitness/Wellness

5 ATHLETIC TRAINING Students are trained to become proficient in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses for the physically active. Upon graduation, students will meet the requirements to sit for the BOC examination. BOC certification is required to practice athletic training in all 50 states. Nationally accredited (CAATE) Limited Access program

6 HEALTH EDUCATION Bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and the public s understanding of health to improve quality of life. Preventing disease and disability, as well as promoting health among diverse population groups through behavioral interventions. Specializations: Community Health Promotion Health Studies

7 SPORT MANAGEMENT Studies the role and impact of sport, on individuals, society and the environment. Prepares students to apply fundamental concepts of management, marketing, finance, and law in today s global sport industry.

8 TOURISM, EVENT AND RECREATION MANAGEMENT Studies the role and impact of leisure services, including tourism, events and recreation, on individuals, society and the environment. Prepares students to develop, manage and deliver programs and services to a variety of populations in diverse settings. 9 PRE-HEALTH WHAT SHOULD I MAJOR IN? Taken from the UF College of Medicine (COM) website: Q: What major does UF COM look for? A: We don t! Obviously science majors can get through our science prerequisites faster than the non-science majors, but each year we take art majors, history majors, language majors, forestry majors, philosophy majors, poetry majors we strive to recruit a diverse group of interesting students, so impress us!

10 COMBINED DEGREE PROGRAMS (4+1) What is Combined Degree? This program allows12-credits of graduate level coursework to count towards an undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate (M.S.) degree What programs are offered? Health Education (BS in any field/ms HEB) Sport Management (BS/MS) When should students begin pursuing this option? Students interested in this program should see their advisor no later than sophomore year for eligibility information.

11 TIPS FOR STAYING ON-TRACK IN HHP Academic Resources: Guide to Majors Undergraduate Catalog (2016) Review your degree audit (ONE.UF) Meet with your academic advisor every semester Students who are off-track for 2 consecutive semesters must find a new major. Have AP/IB/DE? Take electives, courses for a minor,/dual degree, or a foreign language. Some term 2 critical tracking courses are appropriate however
