2 Introduction We are delighted to invite you to participate in the Executive Program on Private Banking & Wealth Management, offered by the Institute of International Finance (IIF) and in cooperation with the UBS. 6 Speaker Profiles Gan Seow Ann, Vice Chairman, South East Asia and APAC Hub, Wealth Management, UBS AG Seow Ann was appointed to this UBS position in August He was until recently President of Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX); he was concurrently the Chief Executive of the two operating exchanges; he also led the drive to establish Singapore as the premier listings venue for IPOs and debt capital raising. During his 11 years with SGX, he was actively involved in engaging regulators in the region to enhance the rules and business framework for the finance industry. Prior, Seow Ann has held several senior appointments: at Merrill Lynch he was Managing Director responsible for the equities market in South East Asia; and he was Head of Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia for Crosby Securities (which became SocGen Securities). Carlo Grigioni, Former Divisional Vice Chairman, UBS Wealth Management Carlo was one of the most senior leaders of UBS Wealth Management globally, with more than 38 years of experience in the Wealth Management business. His last held appointment was Divisional Vice Chairman, Wealth Management. He retired from UBS in May 2014 but continues to be active for UBS Wealth Management on a consultancy basis. He began his career with UBS in Asia Pacific in 1986 as one of the original architects of the region's Wealth Management business. His global expertise and extensive experience in international private banking formed a firm foundation of providing senior coverage to Ultra High Net Worth clients in Asia Pacific. Carlo holds a Diploma from the Commercial School in St Gallen, Switzerland; he also completed the Stanford Executive Program (GSB) and the Stanford-National University of Singapore, Executive Program. Tan Min Lan, Head APAC Investment Office, Chief Investment Office, UBS Wealth Management Min Lan, in her role, is to drive research content, supervise portfolio performance and ensure effective communication of the UBS House View in Asia Pacific. She serves as a member of both the Global and Emerging Market Investment Committees which formulate the global UBS House View. Prior, Min Lan held a number of senior appointments within the UBS Investment Bank. Prior to entering the financial services industry, Min Lan was a senior economist at the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Min Lan holds a B.A. in accountancy (Hons) from the National University of Singapore and is a CFA. David Vignola, Head, Legal & Compliance, Private Banking Clients, Standard Chartered David is responsible for overseeing the Private Bank s legal and compliance programs globally. Based in Singapore, he oversees teams in Singapore, Hong Kong, Mumbai/Delhi, Dubai, London, Guernsey, and Jersey, focusing much of his attention on the bank s Client Due Diligence processes and procedures, the suitability and sales processes of the bank s diverse product offerings and services, and legal advisory. David joined Standard Chartered from S&P in New York where, during , he was the Global Chief Compliance Officer for S&P s Investment Services and Rating Services, respectively. Prior, David was with Citi s Private Bank in both New York and Tokyo, as well as in Citi s Investment Bank in Hong Kong, variably, in both legal and compliance roles. 6 Private Banking & Wealth Management
7 Speaker Profiles Cher Teck Chan, Head of PB Regulatory Compliance, HSBC Private Bank Cher Teck is, as the Head of PB Division Regulatory Compliance, is responsible for advising the business on regulations, code of conduct and good market practices: this includes liaising with relevant regulators, maintain good relations and facilitate responses for the business to queries from the regulators. Prior, he was the Risk Manager in Bank Julius Baer Singapore, responsible for strengthening its risk management framework and liaising with the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Cher Teck was also with the MAS for over 20 years, primarily responsible for the supervision of banks in Singapore. During that period, he worked closely with the Financial Centre Development Department to chart the growth of the private banking industry in Singapore. Rolf Gerber, Chairman, LGT Bank (Singapore) Ltd. Rolf has been in the finance industry for over 30 years. Before joining LGT in 2002, he was with UBS for 20 years he was last CEO and Country Head of the UBS Group in Singapore. He has worked in Asia for over 25 years in locations such as Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong and Singapore. Rolf, a Swiss national holding a MBA degree from the University of Basel (Switzerland), joined LGT Singapore in 2002 to establish LGT s first banking platform in Asia. LGT a boutique private bank wholly owned by the Princely House of Liechtenstein - is today a well established and recognized market player in the wealth management industry in Asia. Rolf was conferred the Public Service Medal by the President of Singapore in 2010 for his service in various Singapore government led councils. Claude Harbonn, Executive Director and Head, Investment Consulting Singapore, Credit Suisse Claude is the head of Investment Consulting in Singapore covering South East Asia. In addition to managing his teams, he is also directly advising a few key clients on managing their investment portfolios. He has been with Credit Suisse since 2008 and before that was an Investment Consultant with UBS since He has been in Singapore since Claude has a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College London and a Masters in Finance from HEC Lausanne. Michael Benz, Global Head of Private Banking, Standard Chartered Private Bank Michael, appointed to his current position In February 2014, is responsible for developing, driving and executing the Private Bank strategy to capture the growth opportunities presented by Standard Chartered's footprint markets. Prior, he was the Designated Chairman for Asia at Julius Baer. Michael's career spans more than 20 years in Treasury, Asset Management and Private Banking. Prior to that, he was the CEO, Wealth Management (Asia-Pacific) at Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he led the bank's wealth management business spanning Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, California, India and Japan. Michael has also held various roles at UBS and Swiss Banking Corporation. Michael holds a Masters degree in Business from St Gallen Business School and a PhD in Financial Economics from the University of St Gallen. Institute of International Finance 7
8 Speaker Profiles Tan Su Shan, Managing Director & Group Head, Consumer Banking & Wealth Management, DBS Bank Su Shan joined DBS in 2010 as Managing Director and Group Head of Wealth Management, and promoted in 2013 to Group Head, Consumer Banking & Wealth Management. Prior, she was Morgan Stanley s Head of Private Wealth Management for Southeast Asia, and was a Region Head for Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei for Citi Private Bank; she was responsible for the private bank s overall business and a board director of Citi Trust Singapore. Su Shan is currently a Nominated Member of Parliament in Singapore. Su Shan graduated with a M.A. from Oxford University. Daniel Brandenberger, Executive Director, HR Business Partner for WM South East Asia, UBS AG Daniel has been with UBS for over 22 years where he has held various HR positions in Switzerland, the UK, the US, The Bahamas and as of July 2013, here in Singapore. He is the Senior HR Business Partner to Edmund Koh for Wealth Management South East Asia, including coordination responsibilities for the APAC Hub locations. Daniel is a Swiss national and holds a Master degree in Human Resources and leadership. Johnson Chng, Managing Partner, Greater China Global Partner, A.T. Kearney Johnson has 20+ years of experience in all sub-segments of the financial services sector working with numerous clients worldwide. He also sits on A.T. Kearney s global partner development committee (a 12-member committee). Among others, he covers core areas of corporate and business unit growth and repositioning strategies, private banking and wealth management, and talent development/ management. Prior, he was Partner at Bain & Co. and also at Boston Consulting Group.
