Mendoza As New Chief Executive Officer MANILA, 25 APRIL 2011 The Philippine American Life and General Insurance Company ( Philam Life ), the largest life insurer in the country, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rex Ma. A. Mendoza as President & Chief Executive Officer subject to regulatory approvals. Mr Mendoza will be joining Philam Life in June Reporting to Mr Gordon Watson, AIA Group s Regional Managing Director, Mr Mendoza will continue to strengthen Philam Life s already strong leadership position in the Philippines with a view to accelerating its growth to the next level. Said Mr Watson: Rex is a veteran in the financial services industry and no stranger to many of us in Philam Life. I am very pleased that we have a very experienced executive of his calibre leading Philam Life. Together with his team, Rex will be able to leverage on the enormous potential for growth and ensure Philam Life has the best products and services to meet the protection and savings needs of our customers. Mr Mendoza has been a senior executive with Philam Life assuming various management positions for more than 20 years, and his last position was Executive Vice President & Head of Sales, Marketing and Training. He also served as Vice Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Philam Asset Management and Philam Financials, and was a member of the Board of Philam Insurance Company, Security Philam, Philam Call Centre and Philam Foundation. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing and Sales Officer for Ayala Land, Inc while serving as Chairman & President of Ayala Land International Sales, Inc, Ayala Land Sales, Inc, and Chairman & President of Rampver, Inc. Mr Mendoza was also a member of the Board of Advisers for the Association of Advertising Agencies of the Philippines. Mr Mendoza earned his Masters Degree with Distinction in Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Marketing and Finance at the University of the Philippines. more

4 American International Assurance Company, Limited 1 Robinson Road, AIA Tower Singapore T: AIA.COM.SG Media Release AIA APPOINTS TAN HAK LEH AS CEO OF SINGAPORE OPERATION Singapore, 25 April AIA is pleased to announce that Mr. Tan Hak Leh will be joining AIA Singapore as Chief Executive Officer beginning 1 June 2011, subject to regulatory approval. AIA Singapore's current Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kenneth Juneau, will be retiring after 18 years with AIA. Since joining AIA in 1993, Mr Juneau has held various executive positions throughout Asia, including Thailand, Australia, Korea, China and Vietnam, as well as in the United States. He has assumed leadership responsibilities for AIA Singapore since September Mr. Huynh Thanh Phong, Regional Managing Director of AIA Group said, I would like to express my deep gratitude and thanks to Ken for his strong leadership and contribution to the Group over the last 18 years. I am very pleased that until his retirement in March next year, Ken has agreed to be based in our Singapore office to provide regional support. Hak Leh has 20 years of insurance experience, 17 years of which were in management positions in Singapore. He will be joining AIA from Great Eastern (GE) where he has been Chief Executive & Principal Officer of GE Singapore for the past four years. Under his leadership, GE Singapore has achieved a market leading position. Hak Leh also successfully grew GE s agency force while maintaining the highest average productivity. Prior to GE, Hak Leh was Director of the Insurance Department with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) driving policy review of risk-based capital and market conduct rules as well as supervision of life and composite insurance companies. Hak Leh is currently the President of the Life Insurance Association of Singapore. He is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Actuaries and gained 1st Class Honours in Actuarial Mathematics & Statistics from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh (UK). Commenting on Hak Leh's appointment, Mr. Huynh said, With the breadth of his insurance industry experience and his deep passion for and understanding of the Singapore market, we are truly delighted to have Hak Leh managing AIA Singapore, one of our most important operations. Mr. New has held a number of senior posts during his over 14 year tenure with Manulife Financial including as Senior Vice President & Chief Legal Officer, Canadian Division, with oversight for the legal and compliance functions for the company s Canadian Division. Prior to his role in Canada, Mr. New was in various senior posts for Manulife s Asia Division for almost eight years, including as Vice President & Chief Legal Officer, Asia with legal oversight for the company s operations in Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines. He also managed several strategic initiatives including demutualisation in Asia which led to the listing of Manulife s shares on the stock exchanges of Hong Kong and the Philippines.
