13 innovation.. RFID The RFID device serves the same purpose as a barcode it provides a unique identifier for that object. And, just as a barcode or magnetic strip must be scanned to get the information, the RFID device must be scanned to retrieve the identifying information. RFID can work in conjunction with Barcode, where barcode requires line of sight and only one can be scanned at a time, RFID does not require line of site and many can be read at one time. Barcoding is only an identifier which can be easily replicated, it cannot be used as a security device, RFID can provide identification and serialization whilst provide security.
