3 Time sensors Detect the signals, where they rise Low voltage transformers In the practice of industrial electrical measurement, some devices of the measurement chain adapt the signal to make it compatible with the measuring instruments. In the complex of these devices, the transformer is one of the most important examples for diffusion and universality of use. From the simplest applications in which analog and digital indicators are used, to the more complex which is expected the use of transducers, KWh meters, multifunctions or protection devices, the supply of current and voltage inputs is generally performed by means of transformers. The use of transformers, besides conditioning the signal, allows to obtain a complete galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary circuit, granting the necessary level of insulation between apparatus user and protection or measuring instruments. Current Transformers They adapt the current values to the measuring and protection equipments, delivering a reduced a secondary current proportional to the standard values 5A or 1A. IME current transformers comply with EN Standards and depending on the intended use they can be divided into: Measuring Classes: 0,5-1-3 / Applications: counting and industrial measurements Accuracy Classes: 0,2-0,2s-0,5s / Applications: counting and measuring with an high degree of reliability at the lowest currents (1% in classes with 0,2 or 0,5s) Protection Classes: 5P5-5P-5P-5P / Applications: combination with protection relays Summation Classes: 0,5-1 / applications counting and industrial measurements on different lines belonging to the same voltage system. Voltage Transformers They adjust the values of the primary voltage to the measuring or protection devices delivering a reduced secondary voltage to the standard values V (other values upon request). IME voltage transformers comply with EN Standards and depending on the intended use can be divided into: Measuring Classes: 0,5-1 / Applications: counting and industrial measurements Accuracy Class: 0,2 / Applications: counting and measuring with an high degree of reliability Protection Class: 3P / Applications: combination with protection relays 3
4 Current Transformers CT Cable/passing bar (Primary currents...000a) CT Wound primary (Primary currents A) With more cable passages (windings) inside the transformer it is possible to reduce the primary current value, keeping unchanged the secondary current values, performances, class (actual primary current = rated primary current, number of windings; i.e. 1/5A with 2 passing cable = /5A with 3 passing cable = /5A) CT fixing Depending on the model the current transformers can be mounted as follows: 1 1 Direct fixing on primary bars by means of screws with insulating caps 2 Fixing screw for wall mounting with pins 3 Fixing on DIN rail CT connections The terminals of current transformers are marked with double wordings: Primary circuit P1(K) - P2(L) Secondary circuit s1(k) - s2(l) 1 Some models are also provided with arrows to show the correct direction of the CT connection on the cable / bar in order to avoid the errors of reverse current. 2 The secondary terminals, depending on the models, can be tightened with a nut, screw, double faston + screw; these last ones are useful to short-circuit the CT secondary before disconnecting the equipment to avoid dangerous voltages generated by the opening of the circuit (no-load operation). Ipn s1 k P1 K Isn s2 l P2 L LOAD 1 3 However, to overcome this situation, for all the current transformers, IME proposes a static accessory (ATAP0), allowing the instantaneous reclosing of the secondary circuit of open CT due to circuit interruption or equipment removal as well as instantaneous automatic recovery on the return to normal conditions. Protection degree IP secondary terminals (for models TAS... TAU... TAQ... BSA... only with the use of sealable terminal covers). 4
5 Open core CT (Primary currents 00A) Voltage Transformers VT connections The VT terminals are marked with different wordings depending on the type of connection: Primary circuit phase-phase A-B Secondary circuit phase-phase a-b Primary circuit phase-neutral A-N Secondary circuit phase-neutral a-n Designed for mounting in existing plants, they can be placed without breaking down the primary circuit or modifying the plant Screw and faston primary and secondary terminals and screw only for the model BTV3 Protection degree for terminals IP (for models BTV//// only with the use of the sealable terminal covers) Connection Phase-Phase a b Connection Phase-Neutral a n A B A N U N U : VT fixing The voltage transformers can be flush / wall mounted with fixing screw 2 3 5
