My teaching responsibilities are across years 1-3 of the Bachelor of Nursing program. In addition to my teaching load I am involved in research, with particular interest in Aged Care. Since arriving at La Trobe I have connected with the John Richards Initiative and am now part of a research team led by Professor Jeni Warburton. The research team is undertaking a project in residential aged care entitled: On a wing and a prayer: a birdwatching intervention in rural residential aged care. My role involves interviews with residents and staff (pre and post- test) to explore the effectiveness of the intervention on quality of life for residents as well as improvements in the facility environment. I was Principle Investigator on a project entitled: Exploring in-patients psychosocial/well-being needs. My role has included data collection and analysis as well as leading a small team writing for publication. 1.
