2 Science websites 1. Chemistry BBC GCSE science for teachers Fantastic website in terms of ressources. Very user friendly website suitable for high school students. This is a rare source of recordings that are essential for an ETLV/DNL class. There are mp3 s and videos. MIT Open Courseware A gold mine of lessons and practicals online. Often lecture notes are available in.pdf format Royal Society of Chemistry European website that deals with the latest advances in Chemistry. Each month they update a podcast with current information from the world of chemistry. We also find access to recent articles about the environment and sustainable energy: How Stuff Works Fantastic website in terms of ressources. Explanations, images, videos of science phenomenas. An equivalent of Wikipedia with a lot more illustrations. The Naked Scientist Fantastic website in terms of ressources. Interviews of scientists : transcripts + mp3 are dowloadable free of charge. 2

3 Guch's Cavalcade o' Chemistry A Self proclaimed 'one stop chemistry shop', the Chemistry Helpdesk contains a variety of practice worksheets, a chemistry vocab list and simple explanations of tricky topics. Excellent for «1 ère, terminale» Doc Brown's Chemistry Clinic A growing general help and revision chemistry website. It offers revision notes, multiple choice tests and structured questions with answers. Excellent for «1 ère, terminale» Chemsoc Additional Chemistry material for high school teachers S Cool cool.co.uk/a level A level, GCSE revision site covering a range of chemistry topics offering summaries of key points, quick learn guides and questions. General Chemistry Online A links site by Fred Senese with a topic search facility. Well worth exploring... Powerpoint presentations for teachers Free PowerPoint presentations on biology, chemistry, physics Creative chemistry chemistry.org.uk/ Animations, games, crosswords, hangman, puzzles Adrian Dingle chemistry pages 3

4 American site built by Adrian Dingle including material for high school chemistry. Not always easy to use but some useful information : quizzes, list of ions. Avogadro chemistry website A Level Chemistry site developed by the John Leggott 6 th Form College in Scunthorpe with useful revision notes, tutorials, colourful explanations. Chemistry 4 kids A very colourfully presented USA chemistry website with main sections on matter, elements, atoms, reactions. Simple explanations. GRAPHICS Choose "chemistry" and you will find animated gifs for chemistry, they are quite fun but you need to pay to suscribe Cool Clips Some free clips type in "chemistry" 4

5 2. Physics BBC GCSE science for teachers Very useful site as far as ressources, audiobites, mock exams are concerned How Stuff Works Explanations, images, videos of science phenomenas. An equivalent of Wikipedia with a lot more illustrations. The Naked Scientist Interviews of scientists : transcripts + mp3 are dowloadable free of charge. BBC Space Articles, games and audio visual animation about space and the solar system. Amusement Park Physics 'What are the forces behind the fun?' asks this nicely presented site. Includes topics such as momentum, potential and kinetic energy, and force and mass. D.C. Circuits Starts with circuit symbols and ends with Kirchhoff's Laws. For Key Stage 4 students there is an interactive self test provided at each stage. Energy Levels Lively applets animate Bohr's atom and lead to the modern idea of the energy level atom. A supportive site for Key Stage 4 students. 5

6 Fear of Physics Simulations and video clips make this more like fun than fear. Lots of interactive features help students understand some of the basic physics principles including speed, acceleration, friction and collisions. Be patient as animation downloads can be slow. Molecular Expression Electricity and Magnetism Over 40 interactive Java tutorials can be found here that will support the study of physics from GCSE to A level and beyond. These include the effect of an electromagnetic field on a compass, cathode rays and Lenz's law.
