7 If yes, please provide the name of the proposed provider currently offering C. In the space below expand upon proposed changes to current grade configurations, districting, teaching methodology, programs, transportation, fees and technology. Indicate if any school facilities would be vacated, down-sized or re-organized. Indicate if changes to current staffing would result (increase/decrease). Cape Cod Regional Technical High School was built in 1975 for a now outdated model of vocational technical education. The vocational offerings for which the building was constructed have changed over the course of the last 40 years. As a district, an enrollment of students demands that we assess our current offerings to reduce by three to five the number of technical offerings. In reducing the number of technical areas, the district believes that potentially four to six, Chapter 74 certified teaching positions would be reduced. In addition, 2-3 technical aide positions would be potentially reduced. The District seeks to organize the facility into vocational clusters with space flexibility to accommodate new programs. Technology fully integrated throughout the building. Health and Safety Occupations Health Technologies Dental Assisting FUTURE: Criminal Justice (11/12) This cluster must be reorganized into a Life Sciences Center replicating the workplace students will enter. In addition, appropriate laboratory space should be provided Construction and Landscape Occupations Carpentry Plumbing/HVAC Electrical Horticulture Welding Transportation Occupations Auto Technology Auto Collision Marine Communication and Information Technologies Occupations Design and Visual Communications Information Networking Engineering Technology Consumer and Hospitality Services Cosmetology Culinary Arts 7
8 Early Childhood Education as a model Preschool Laboratory offering service to surrounding districts families and internships for sending district high school students Collaborative Teacher Work Space for: PLC s Departmental Meetings Vocational Academic Integration (VAI) Cape Cod Community College The district has created a program to serve students from our sending communities with severe special needs. This program has led to an increase in our year old population. The facility was not built for delivering technical programming to this population. As a service to these students, their families and our sending communities, the construction of appropriate life skills and transition planning spaces in addition to technical training is essential. Art, Music & Theater Electives The district is hopeful that a new school or major renovation will incorporate a separate auditorium as well as music and art classrooms to offer these invaluable disciplines to our students. Our sending districts have thriving programs in the Arts and Cape Cod as a whole has a thriving Arts community and economy. D. Using the space below, indicate any proposed changes to current technology offerings (e.g. One to One technology, digital research lab within library, WiFi hotspots, laptop carts, etc.). As a part of an MSBA project, the district would seek to modernize the technology infrastructure to current industry standards. In addition, the District is currently considering a transition to a One to One technology initiative for the or school years. 8
