1 Broadcasts (ISDN, Webcast, Satellite) ISDN & IP Video Conferencing The Thunderbird Media Department provides IP & ISDN Video Conference services from the AT&T, DLC, Yount Media Conference room and Yount Studio for the purposes of Distance Learning and Presentation Communications. A minimum of 48hrs lead time is required (longer is preferred) An online form must be submitted A test call should be setup to insure connectability A IP or ISDN address must be supplied to the Media department All presentation material should be reviewed by the Thunderbird IDS department Page 1 of 5

2 Presentation materials should be supplied to the Media Department in advance (i.e. Intro Graphics, backgrounds, PPT, videos ) Participants should arrive 15min before the conference A Webinar Service (Webex, Adobe Connect ) should be set up in addition to the video conferencing request, if desired. 1. This service is accessed through the I&IT Online forms page, under Media Services, under Video Services 3. For the DLC and AT&T, separate scheduling must be completed for the room. 4. This service can handle up to 3 separate sites (more if a bridging service is hired) 5. The online form must be filled out completely to avoid delays. 6. Once all information is provided and the form is submitted: 7. The media manager will approve or decline the event. 8. If declined, the Media Department will contact the initiator to reschedule. 9. If approved, the Media Department will contact the initiator and request additional contact information for the event. Please contact the Manager of Media Services for any question regarding this service. IP Video Conference-This is utilizing the Public internet for video conferencing. This type of video conferencing is low cost or no cost, but the quality of the connection can suffer. ISDN video Conference-This video conferencing uses high bandwidth telephone lines. There is a cost associated if the school dials out to a client, but the quality is more secure. Associated Video Conferencing rooms on Campus The Yount media conference room: holds up to 10 people and can video conference at speeds of 256kbps or less (ISDN & IP capable) The Yount Distance Learning Room: holds up to 60 people and can video conference at speeds of 512kbps or less (ISDN & IP capable) The AT&T Auditorium: holds up to 250 people and can video conference at speeds of 512kbps or less (ISDN & IP capable) Satellite Services Page 2 of 5

3 The Thunderbird Media Department provides satellite uplink and downlink services from the AT&T, DLC, and Studio venues for the purposes of Distance Learning and Media Communications. A minimum of 48 hours lead time is required. A complete online form must be submitted (with a technical contact name and phone number in the Special Instructions). A successful test call must be made. All participants must arrive in the Studio 30 minutes before the broadcast. 1. The Media Services Request Form is located on the I&IT Online Forms page, under Media Services Forms. 3. For the DLC and AT&T, separate scheduling must be completed for the rooms. 4. All technical information from the satellite provider must be provided before the event will be approved. 5. A test call must be successfully completed before the event will be approved. 6. Once all information is provided, a test call is completed, and the online form submitted. 7. The Media Manager will approve or decline the event. 8. Please contact the Manager of Media Services for any questions regarding this service. Uplink Services The Thunderbird Media Department can send a video and audio signal to a predetermined satellite. End users with a satellite dish and receiver can then downlink the signal to their TV or video system. Downlink Services The Thunderbird Media Department can aim their satellite dish at a predetermined satellite and receive the audio and video signal from a partnering source. Associated Satellite Brodcast rooms on Campus The Yount Studio/DLC: holds up to 3 people The AT&T Auditorium: holds up to 250 people Webcasting Services The Thunderbird Media Department provides Webcast streaming services from the AT&T, DLC, Yount Page 3 of 5

4 Studio and select portable locations for the purposes of Distance Learning and Presentation Communications. A minimum of 48hrs lead time is required (longer is preferred) An online form must be submitted A URL link must be supplied by the Media department, for distribution All presentation material should be reviewed by the Thunderbird IDS department Presentation materials should be supplied to the Media Department in advance (i.e. Intro Graphics, backgrounds, PPT, videos ) Participants should arrive 20min before the broadcast A Remove from Archive date must be given for all files that are stored by the Media Department. 1. This service is accessed through the I&IT Online forms page, under Media Services, under Video Services 3. For the DLC and AT&T, separate scheduling must be completed for the room. 4. This service can handle up to 1000 viewers. (Additional bandwidth can be added at an expense) The online form must be filled out completely to avoid delays. Once all information is provided and the form is submitted: The media manager will approve or decline the event. If declined, the Media Department will contact the initiator to reschedule. If approved, the Media Department will contact the initiator and provide a web link for distribution to end users. Please contact the Manager of Media Services for any question regarding this service. Live Web stream-(a.k.a. Webcasts) The Thunderbird Media department can send a real time video and audio signal to the internet. End users with the appropriate media player software on their PC can view the images in real time. Recorded Web stream-(a.k.a. Progressive downloads) The Thunderbird media department can send a prerecorded video signal to the internet for on-demand viewing. Associated Webcasting rooms on Campus Page 4 of 5
