Chapter 2: Performing Common User Tasks This chapter describes the procedures for some common user tasks, including: Viewing Vehicles Tracking Vehicles Viewing Vehicle Activity Viewing a Flight Plan Finding Addresses Adding Landmarks Editing Landmarks Editing Landmarks Changing Map Views Viewing Map Layers Sending Messages Viewing Vehicles The My Fleet tab of the Layer Manager pane allows you to easily view, sort, and filter all added vehicles. Several general actions are also available in the Take Action menu. 25

Viewing Vehicles Figure 23: Vehicles listed in My Fleet Tab. Selecting a vehicle displays summary vehicle statistics in the Results tab of the Work pane. To view the current location of a vehicle on the map, select the vehicle from the list and click the Find Vehicle link in the Take Action menu. The map changes to indicate the location, and the vehicle will appear either with a directional ring or a colored shadow. Current information about the vehicle displays in the Work pane. Figure 24: Vehicle selected and found on map. 26 Quick Start User Guide

Viewing Vehicles To zoom to the current location of a vehicle on the map, select the vehicle from the list and click Zoom To in the Take Action menu. The map changes to show a close-up of the location of the selected vehicle. Figure 25: Vehicle selected and zoomed to on map. Viewing Vehicle Status The directional rings that surround each vehicle in the My Fleet tab provide quick-glance information about the current status of each vehicle. This setting is an option. You may instead see a colored shadow around the vehicle. This will also indicate status. Figure 26: Vehicles list showing directional ring color associations. Quick Start User Guide 27

Viewing Vehicles The color of the directional ring differs, depending on the status of the vehicle. The following table describes the meaning of each ring color. Table 14: Vehicle status directional ring colors and meanings. Ring Color White or No Ring Green Magenta Red Yellow Meaning Vehicle is not currently active. Vehicle is active and is currently moving (in the direction indicated by the point of the directional ring). Vehicle is active but is currently stationary. Vehicle has triggered a digital input alarm. Vehicle will be listed in the Events tab of the left pane, showing more information about the alert. Vehicle is currently being tracked on the Map application. The directional rings also surround the vehicles on the map portion of the Map application. Sorting Vehicle List The Vehicles list can be sorted for ease of use. You can sort the list by vehicle Type or Name. To sort the list in ascending order, click once on the column heading by which you want to sort the list. To sort the list in descending order, click twice on the column heading by which you want to sort the list. Figure 27: Vehicles list sorted by Name (ascending order) Note: The vehicles listed in the Events tab can also be sorted by column. 28 Quick Start User Guide

Filtering Vehicles Viewing Vehicles The Vehicles list allows you to filter the list to show all vehicles or only active vehicles. The filter also lets you select to view only active vehicles with a specific current status. Note: When you select to filter the Vehicles list, the filtering also applies to the vehicles shown on the map. 1. Select Filter from the Take Action menu. The Fleet Filter tab appears in the Work pane. Figure 28: Fleet Filter tab. 2. Select to view All vehicles or to view Active vehicles. 3. If you select to view Active vehicles, you may then select to view only those vehicles in a particular state. You may select only one state from the Filter by State list. 4. When finished, click Apply Filter. The My Fleet tab reloads the list as you selected to filter it. Note: Depending on your filtering selections and internet connection speed, reloading the updated list and filtered map may take a few minutes. Searching for Vehicles The Find text box located at the top of the Vehicles list allows you to search for specific vehicles based on their name. To search for vehicles, begin typing in the Find text box. The listed vehicles are filtered to only show those vehicles whose names correspond with the text entered into the box. Note: The search only works against the vehicles that appear in the list. If you have filtered the list, using the Filter text box will filter the list further but will not show vehicles that were not already present in the list. Viewing Stacked Vehicles Frequently, the vehicles appearing in the Vehicles list are in such close proximity to one another that they cannot be displayed separately on the map. In this case, the vehicles are stacked in the display and indicated with a dot-pyramid icon ( ). To see how many vehicles are stacked in one location, hover your mouse over the icon. A label appears indicating the number of vehicles stacked in that location. Quick Start User Guide 29

Tracking Vehicles Figure 29: Map showing number of stacked vehicles. To see which vehicles are stacked in a particular location, click on the stacked vehicle icon. Information for the vehicles will be located in the Results tab of the Work pane. Figure 30: Map showing list of stacked vehicles. Note: Because of the viewing scale, you may see stacked vehicle icons in a location, but not see those icons when zooming into that area. This is because the updated scale of the map allows individual vehicles to be shown. Tracking Vehicles By choosing to track a vehicle, you can set the map to follow a particular vehicle as it changes location. The vehicle being tracked appears with a yellow directional ring around it, both in the Vehicles list and on the map, if this option is selected. To track a vehicle, select a vehicle from the Vehicles list in the My Fleet tab and click Track Vehicle in the Take Action menu. If the tracked vehicle is not in the current map view, the map view changes to include the tracked vehicle. In addition, a tracking indicator appears in the Map application footer. With respect to tracking vehicles, be advised of the following points: Only one vehicle can be tracked at a time. If the Track Vehicle link does not appear, another vehicle is currently being tracked. Click Turn Tracking Off to clear the tracking from the other vehicle and enable tracking to be set on the selected vehicle. 30 Quick Start User Guide

Viewing Vehicle Activity The map view may change to include the tracked vehicle but the zoom level of the map remains the same. If you need a closer view of the tracked vehicle, select it from the Vehicles list and click Zoom To. Depending on the zoom level of the map, you may not immediately notice the tracked vehicle in the map. If the map is zoomed out significantly (for example, to show the United States) the map view may not change because the tracked item already appears on the map. If you do not see the tracked vehicle on the map (vehicle with a yellow directional ring), it is possible that the vehicle may be stacked with another vehicle. Select the vehicle from the Vehicles list and click Find Vehicle or Zoom To to locate it on the map. When you are finished tracking an vehicle, click the Tracking Off link from the Take Action menu. You do not have to select the specific vehicle from the list. Viewing Vehicle Activity Use the View Activity option to view activity taken by an vehicle. To view the vehicle activity, select a vehicle from the Vehicles list and click the View Activity link in the Take Action menu. The View Activity tab appears in the Work pane. Figure 31: View Activity tab. The View Activity tab allows you to select different vehicles, time frames, and corresponding vehicle activity, and show those vehicle activity on the map. 1.
