2 SNAP EMPLOYMENT & TRAINING PROGRAM The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a program for individuals who are receiving food stamps and seeking employment. Services are provided through the following components: Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Activities are funded through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and provide assessment, job training and job placement assistance. Services are broken down into three categories: Core Services, Intensive Services and Training Services. These activities will help you identify types of work you are best suited for. Job Search requires an E&T participant to make a specified number of job contacts with different prospective employers over a period of time not to exceed 60 calendar days. This service will help you identify available jobs you may apply for. Vocational Training will enable individuals to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to compete in a specific occupation and allows participants to move directly into employment. HELPING YOU FIND AND KEEP THE RIGHT JOB Who Must Participate in the SNAP E&T Program? You are required to register for work You are age 18 or older but under age 50 You have no dependents Who Does Not Have to Participate in the SNAP E&T Program? If you meet any one of the following conditions, you may not have to take part in the SNAP E&T Program but you can volunteer to participate: You are under age 18 or are age 50 or older You are a student, enrolled at least half-time You are receiving unemployment insurance payments You are responsible for the care of an incapacitated person You are pregnant or physically or mentally unable to work You have a dependent child under age 18 You are employed and working at least 20 hours per week ANY FDTC CE COURSE THAT LEADS TO A CAREER FIELD IS POTENTIALLY ELIGIBLE FOR A SNAP RECIPIENT. If your company is to be billed for courses you select, please provide on company letterhead authorization to bill for tuition/textbooks Refunds and Cancellations Refunds will be processed without request when courses, seminars, or workshops are canceled by the College. Students can request a refund from Continuing Education by telephone, fax, mail, or in person. Requests for refunds will be accepted up to 48 hours (2 working days) before a class starts.
