1 13 th Annual General Meeting Meet the Candidates You can hear from the candidates in the 2016 Board of Director Election by attending the Meet the Candidates webinar on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 3:00 pm 4:00 pm EDT. During the 13 th Annual General Meeting, Members will be asked to vote for seven candidates out of the seven eligible positions. The seven eligible candidates for the 2016 Board of Directors election are: Ashish Mehta Barbara Carkenord Charles Martin David Polsky Heather Mylan-Mains Michele Maritato Heather MacNeil Please review the attached biographies to learn more about this year s candidates.

With 20+ years of experience, Ashish is a recognized thought-leader in the business analysis profession and works with fortune 500 clients to establish highly effective Business Analysis and IT Consulting disciplines, enabling the delivery of solutions to business and technical problems. Ashish is a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP ) and a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt. CARKENORD Director of Business Analysis RMC Learning Solutions As the Director of Business Analysis at RMC Learning Solutions Barbara combines her entrepreneurial and management experience with her love of education and business analysis to promote the development of the business analysis practice. During her career Barbara co-founded two successful companies and worked in varied industries including manufacturing, financial services, and software development. Barbara has worked as a leader, manager, mentor, consultant, trainer, accountant, and technical writer. She has written numerous books, articles, blogs, and training manuals all aimed at helping other professionals enhance their skills. In 2010 she was named the Small Business Woman of the Year by the Georgia Women in Technology. Barbara served on a small business board, The Alternative Board (TAB) and mentored small business owners. Throughout her career Barbara has been passionate about enabling people and organizations to succeed through analysis. Analytical thinking allows organizations to increase their process efficiency and improve the quality of their products. Beginning her career in software development, early assignments allowed her to design systems which streamlined employee processes, increased the quality of information, and improved customer relationships. Barbara s focus on critical thinking and increasing business value drove her to help define the business analysis profession. As an early IIBA member, she worked on the development of the worldwide standard for business analysis, the BABOK Guide. Barbara continues to volunteer with the IIBA mentoring, writing, presenting, and promoting the organization and its principles. 4 CHARLIE MARTIN Director Cisco Advanced Services In his role as a Director in Cisco s Advanced Services Group, Charlie has been a catalyst for value-added change for many organizations. He brings his customers an expansive knowledge spanning many industries from semiconductor manufacturing to financial services, along with expertise in process innovation within supply chain, operations, sales and IT. Together, this makes him uniquely qualified to guide organizations through their digital transformation journeys. Today Charlie and his team focus on designing new business models enabled by the blurring of digital and physical worlds. Using information and analytics introduced by the connection of things to drive adaptive processes is a passion of his. His aim is to discover new ways to unlock value for new business opportunities and competitive advantages. An eleven-year Cisco veteran, Charlie has championed business enablement both internally, within Cisco IT, and externally, for Cisco clients, across a variety of industries. Prior to Cisco, Charlie held leadership positions at Digital Equipment Corporation, Ernst & Young, and MicroAge in the areas of consulting, operations, finance, supply chain, and IT. He also served as a RosettaNet board member, and as CTO for the Arizona Partnership for the New Economy. Charlie holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Arizona State University and is a certified ITIL practitioner in Change, Configuration and Release Management. Martin is a veteran of the US Navy Submarine Service Nuclear Propulsion Program. 4

5 DAVE POLSKY CIO Dave Polsky currently works as a CIO for a Canadian insurance provider, overseeing all information systems, applications and infrastructure. As a seasoned IT veteran with over 25 years of experience working with Fortune 1000 companies, David excels at leveraging technology to ensure clients and employers achieve their overall business objectives. David brings a diverse technology background with strengths in infrastructure and operations, application management, IT security, process optimization, B2B ecommerce, and mobile applications. His experience in both the public and private sectors combined has given him a keen understanding of how to support operations and requirements in different business environments. As a co-founder of a mobile and web applications development company David understands the entrepreneurial nature of technology and the importance of strategic direction. David holds a B. Comm. Honours degree, has attained a CISSP designation, is a Drexler Certified Facilitator, and completed a Supply Chain Management program at Michigan State University. 5

6 HEATHER MYLAN-MAINS Past President of Central Iowa Chapter, Deputy VP Chapters IIBA and currently Volunteer VP Chapters IIBA Heather is from Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up there, pursued her bachelors and graduate degrees there and stayed to raise her family. She is a stimulus for change as a mom, a business analyst consultant, Past President of Central Iowa Chapter, Deputy VP Chapters IIBA and currently Volunteer VP Chapters IIBA. Heather has worked as a Business Analyst long before there was a formal title. For the past 17 + years, she has worked with a variety of project teams to identify and solve many problems and challenges in the financial services, insurance and higher education industries. Projects have included new system development, process improvements, COTS implementations as well as assessing, leading and coaching other business analysts. She has a passion for sharing the power of the Business Analyst role and promoting the importance of that role in every business. She applies that passion to the classroom teaching students through B2T Training and speaking at events. Heather is a natural collaborator and engages people at all levels in organizations. She leads teams to success through focusing on the organization strategy and understanding the real problems to be solved. She has been fortunate to work through all the processes of business analysis in the SDLC and be able to participate in many roles in projects. There is no part of the RACI matrix she has not been responsible for! Heather has a BA in Accounting from Grand View College and an MBA from Drake University and is a CBAP. 6

7 MICHELE MARITATO Partner of PMProgetti Michele Maritato is an Electronic Engineer graduated from the Polytechnic of Milan. He is also MBA and certified CBAP, PMP, PMI-RMP, PMI-ACP, PSM I, PSPO I, CSM. He has over 20 years experience in business analysis, project management and corporate restructuring programs, process re-engineering, development of information systems and intelligent networks in the areas of Tourism, Banking, Insurance, Transportation, Telecommunications, Construction, Chemical, Automotive, Consumer Goods and Services. Speaker at over 50 International congresses. Since 2012 is Global Director of the IIBA. Is partner of PMProgetti. 7

8 HEATHER MACNEIL Heather is a results-driven Human Resources professional with over 30 years of progressive corporate experience. With a solid skill base to draw from, Heather is an exemplary leader and has successfully led major Human Resources projects and program initiatives from the business level up to the enterprise level. A passionate leader of change and an effective coach and facilitator, she excels in fast paced and changing work environments and in addition to building and maintaining strong relationships, she has broad coaching and leadership experience both corporately as well as in a wide array of charitable and community organizations. A ready partner, Heather has gained a reputation for delivering client focused solutions and strategies relative to transition and leadership coaching as well as change management. Giving back to her community is very important to Heather and she has many years of board experience, most recently on the Board of the Alzheimer Society of Canada and prior to that the Alzheimer Society of Ontario and The Community Outreach Program in Addictions. She has also served in an advisory capacity with numerous councils and charities, including Junior Achievement of Canada and The Learning Partnership. Additionally she has mentored students at Dalhousie, Ryerson and McMaster Universities and was bestowed the Queen s Diamond Jubilee medal in 2013 in recognition of her volunteer activities. She holds two degrees from the University of Western Ontario and is a certified coach. She welcomes opportunities to learn and grow and feels that the IIBA provides her with a chance to leverage her expertise and passion for change. She currently sits on the Human Resources Committee. 8
