Previously she was the vice president of an advertising and public relations agency that specialized in travel and tourism. She has served in multiple volunteer positions with the Public Relations Society of America, Society of American Travel Writers and Destination Management Association International and serves as the chair of the United States Travel Association Communications Council, on the Alliance for Arts and Culture board of directors, Junior Achievement board of directors, the advisory board for TravelCom and on the Executive Leadership Council for Go Red for Women. She was just awarded the Gene T. Hassett award by Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI), named one of HSMAI s Top 25 Minds in Hospitality & Travel Sales Marketing and Innovator of the Year by TravelCom. She has earned the Accredited Public Relations designation and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from Auburn University and Masters of Science degree in Marketing Communication from Florida State University.

2 DEBORAH C. GERMAN, M.D. Dean University of Central Florida College of Medicine 4000 University Boulevard, MH 218 Orlando, FL Phone: Deborah German grew up in Rhode Island. She earned her M.D. degree from Harvard Medical School, was a Resident in Medicine at the University of Rochester in New York, and was a Fellow in Rheumatic and Genetic Diseases at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She became a faculty member at Duke and was an Associate Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at Duke research adenosine metabolism. She was Director of the Duke Gout Clinics and Associate Dean of Medical Education at Duke. Dr. German also maintained her own private practice of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. In 1988, Dr. German joined Vanderbilt University as Associate Dean for Students and later Senior Associate Dean of Medical Education. She next served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was also Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer for Saint Thomas Health Services. While there, Dr. German led a successful hospital turn-around and initiated service excellence and quality programs at the hospital that received national recognition. Dr. German spent a year at the Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington, D.C. as a Petersdorf Scholar in Residence. She studied the leadership of academic health centers framed in the concepts of chaos theory and complex adaptive system science. Dr. German was appointed as the Founding Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Central Florida in December She leads the development of a full-scale medical school and academic medical center that is part of an evolving research-based medical city within a highly engaged Central Florida community. In less than two years she has hired over 200 employees and appointed over 700 volunteer faculty, gained preliminary accreditation, raised enough money to provide full four-year scholarships for the entire Charter Class, and is overseeing construction of 400,000 square feet of medical school space. Many communities have recognized Dr. German for her contributions. The city of Nashville honored her as the recipient of the Athena Award and inducted her into the YWCA Academy for Women of Achievement. She is the recipient of the AAMC Women in Medicine Leadership Development Award. Dr. German was named a Local Legend of Medicine in the National Library of Medicine. She is the Orlando Business Journal and Orlando Regional Healthcare 2008 recipient of both the Business Executive of the Year and the Businesswoman of the Year. Most recently, Dr. German received the Orlando Sentinel s Editorial Board Central Floridian of the Year, Dr. German is the mother of two daughters.

3 JOHN C. HITT, PH.D. President University of Central Florida P. O. Box Orlando, FL Phone: During his inaugural speech as the University of Central Florida's fourth president, John C. Hitt proclaimed, "I fervently believe that UCF will become America's leading metropolitan university. Since President Hitt's inauguration on November 19, 1992, UCF has become one of the top ten largest universities in the country, serving eleven central Florida counties with four regional campuses and several satellite campuses. Prior to becoming UCF's fourth president, Dr. Hitt served at the University of Maine as the interim president from and Vice President of Academic Affairs from Dr. Hitt served at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois as Provost of Academic Affairs from as well as Vice President of Academic Affairs from Holding degrees from Austin College (A.B in psychology, 1962) and Tulane University (M.S. and PhD in Physiological Psychology, 1964 and 1966), Dr. Hitt is a certified psychologist, respected professor, author and editor. Dr. Hitt has been married to his wife, Martha Ann Hitt since 1961 and has two children and two grandchildren.

4 STEVE HOGAN Executive Director Florida Citrus Sports One Citrus Bowl Place Orlando, FL Phone: Steve Hogan was named the executive director of Florida Citrus Sports in August of 2006, after serving the organization for eleven years. He has been instrumental in its development from a bowl game into a much larger organization. In addition to his previous duties as assistant executive director, Hogan directly oversaw the Properties department of FCSports. In four years at that position, he has been responsible for all corporate sponsorships, merchandise, group ticket sales, skybox sales, regional brand marketing programs and advertising campaigns. Successes during that period include negotiations with the city of Orlando and the University of Central Florida that produced the right to acquire a naming rights partner for the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium, the addition of a state of the art $2.8 million dollar video scoreboard and upper-deck display system, and a four-year, $4.5 million title partner agreement for what is now the Champs Sports Bowl. Hogan guided the growth and the development of the Champs Sports Bowl since its move to Orlando in Most recently, he structured the innovative title sponsorship deal that laid the foundation for the game s ability to raise team payouts from $1.7 million in 2005 to over $4 million in 2006 and played a key role in negotiating the renewals of the ESPN television contract and the ACC as a bowl partner, and the addition of the Big Ten conference to improve the game s match-up for the next four year cycle. He has also played a major part in the renewal of contracts for the Florida Classic, keeping the nation s largest historically black college and university (HBCU) football game in Orlando through With the new agreement, FCSports has taken on a stronger administrative role, serving as a managing organization for corporate partnerships, the game itself and all official ancillary events. In 1998, Hogan created the Gridiron Classic, a college football All-Star game to be played in Orlando. He became the executive director of the game and took it from concept to reality. This included negotiating television and title sponsor agreements and developing the necessary NFL and NFLPA relationships. In seven years, the game produced 136 NFL draft picks and generated over $1 million for charitable causes. Prior to the development of the Gridiron Classic, Hogan worked in the FCSports Events department, first as an events manager and then as senior director of events and operations. He managed a number of neutral-site college and professional football games held at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium, including Notre Dame vs. Navy and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. the Miami Dolphins. He also worked on the Orlando Citrus Parade, then the Citrus Bowl Game Parade, and increased gross income by 200% in his first year. Before arriving at FCSports in 1995, Hogan spent time at both McCaw Communications and the New York Times Newspaper Group in a marketing capacity. A native of Chicago, Hogan graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1991 with a B.A. in advertising and public relations. He currently resides in Orlando.

5 FRED R. KITTINGER, JR. Associate Vice President for University Relations Director, State & Local Government University of Central Florida P.O. Box Orlando, FL Phone: Fred Kittinger is the Associate Vice President of University Relations and Director of State and Local Government Affairs at the University of Central Florida. Fred holds a Bachelors of Arts with honors in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida, and a Master of Science in Public Administration from Florida State University. Before assuming his present role at UCF in 2003, Fred was Chief of Staff to Orlando Mayor Glenda Hood, serving in the Mayor s office for 8 years. Prior to his city service Fred was Vice President for Governmental Affairs & Executive Director of the Small Business Chamber for the Greater Orlando Chamber of Commerce. He began his career as a Legislative Aide to State Senator George Stuart, Jr. Fred is active in various local civic organizations. He is Chairman of the Board for Junior Achievement, Board Member with the Coalition for the Homeless; Current President of Tiger Bay Club of Central Florida; and Board Member of the Orlando/Orange County Compact. Fred is an elder and adult Sunday school teacher at Winter Park Presbyterian Church. He is an alumnus of Leadership Florida and Leadership Orlando, and past president of the UCF Alumni Association. Fred has been married to Sandra B. Kittinger for 29 years and has one daughter, Alyssa, who recently married.

Thad s role includes the supervision of all life sciences planning, new business ventures and corporate recruitment. Prior to joining Lake Nona, Thad was a senior executive with biotech distributor CuraScript, Inc., a subsidiary of Express Scripts, Inc. He also has extensive experience in healthcare informatics, including co-founding and leading a venture backed electronic medical records company. A founding board member of bioorlando, Thad is active in promoting the life sciences in Central Florida. He is a board member of Florida s Blood Centers and the Florida Research Consortium and has served on the board of multiple healthcare technology businesses. Thad holds a BA from Dartmouth College, an MA and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Thad and his wife Katie have three children.

Weddle joined the EDC as President and CEO in March of In his role, he leads the operations of a $5 million regional organization with a 26-person staff that represents the four-county region of Orange, Seminole, Lake and Osceola, and the City of Orlando. With the support of community partners, the EDC, since its start in 1977, has successfully assisted thousands of companies relocate, expand and grow in Metro Orlando. This has led to the creation of more than 173,000 jobs; over $9.4 billion in capital investment; and more than 78.8 million square feet of office and industrial space leased or constructed. In addition, more than 2,000 film and television production projects have been filmed here during the past 10 years. Prior to joining the EDC, Rick spent seven years as President and CEO of the Research Triangle Foundation of North Carolina, owner and developer of The Research Triangle Park. Under his leadership, the Research Triangle Park has generated successful development projects with projected capital investment of over $800 million and the projected creation of over 6,300 new, high quality jobs. During his tenure, the Foundation assisted in recruiting eighteen new firms and facilitating four expansions to the Park, compared to the historical average of one to two locates per year. An active speaker and leader in numerous economic development and science park organizations, Rick currently serves as the President of the International Association of Science Parks (IASP). Active in the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) since its inception, Rick, a Fellow Member, was awarded the designation of Honorary Life Member in 2007 and received the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Economic Development in honor of Edward deluca. Rick was trained as a presenter for The Climate Project in Nashville in January He holds a bachelor's degree in political science with a focus on public administration, from the University of Oklahoma. He completed a five-year management program and received his Economic Development Executive (EDE) certification from the University of Oklahoma, College of Continuing Education. Rick has also been an instructor at the Economic Development Institute, an extension of the University of Oklahoma, since 1986.
