2 Verviers, ready for the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships After Lugano, Bad Goisern, Lillehammer and Oisans it is up to the city of Verviers, to organise on 12 August 2007, in association with the RLVB and the province of Liege, the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships. As Walloon capital of water, Verviers will receive the start and arrival of the 105 km long marathon which will lead the participants through the ways and paths of the country of Herve, the valley of the Vesder and the Hoëgne. The passage near the dam of the lake of Gileppe is also one of the highlights on this appointment on which all world class riders of the marathon discipline will be present. For those that don t belong to the world elite, there is the Ardenne Bleue Open Trophy of 105 km and 45 km. These competitions are held on the same and partially the same track as the World Championships. This competition which is open for both women and men (licensed or not) is an unique occasion to drive on the same track as the champions. 5 Presentation of the event DATE : Sunday 12 August 2007 ORGANISATION : Royal Belgian Cycling Federation and DYNAMIC EVENTS in partnership with the province of Liège and the city of Verviers. This partnership is in charge of the organization of the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships. Participants of the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships Number of riders Each national federation can enter 15 men and 15 women. The host country may nominate 25 men and 25 women. All participants must obligatorily wear the national equipment. All riders must be registered by their national federation. The following outgoing marathon world champions may take part in addition to the numbers mentioned above (cf. art ): - Men: NÄEF Ralph, SUI - Women: DAHLE Gunn Rita, NOR The outgoing marathon continental champions may also take part in addition to the mentioned quotas (cf. art ). Riders categories The categories for which a world champion title will be awarded are as follow (cf. art ): - Men aged 19 and over (from 1988 and before) - Women aged 19 and over (from 1988 and before) Riders registration process Registration of riders for the Marathon World Championships shall be entered only by the National Federation through the UCI online registration system (article ). Each National Federation received a "login" and a "password" to register their riders directly on the Internet. 6 Online registration deadlines for the participation at the MTB Marathon World Championships by the national federations: Opening on Thursday July :00 CET Closing on Thursday August :00 CET Name, address, phone number of the hotel where the riders are staying must be mentioned on the online registration system. Accreditations for the national federation staff will be handled directly on site during the starters confirmation. Registration fees (30 EUR) The registration will be free of charge for 7 riders of each national federation. National outfit Riders of the same national team must wear identical racing shorts during the same event, except for advertising space included in a lateral band 9 cm wide, which may differ from one rider to another. This means that National Federations must also provide their riders with national racing shorts. The team managers must therefore present the national jersey and shorts to the College of Commissaires at the starters confirmation. Reminder of the UCI regulations National Federations shall 6 weeks before an event as specified in art , submit to the UCI a sample of its national team clothing after all changes (colour, design, advertising, size of the advertisement, layout ) have been made. The team clothing of the riders of a national team shall in all cases be identical to the last design submitted The following advertising shall be authorised: two logos of maximum 64 cm2 on the front of the jersey, area comprising shoulders and sleeves: strip maximum 5 cm high sides of the jersey - a lateral strip 9 cm wide, sides of the shorts - a lateral strip 9 cm wide, the manufacturer s label (25 cm2) may appear once only on the jersey and once on each leg of the shorts. Advertising matter on jerseys and shorts may vary from one rider to another. The design of the jersey and shorts may vary from one category of riders to another. Additionally, the rider s name may be carried on the back of the jersey. 6

7 Participants of the Ardenne Bleue Open Trophy The Ardenne Bleue Open Trophy is a timed race open for all bikers (men and women, licensed or not) that meets the age criteria mentioned below. Absolutely no deviation of these criteria will be permitted. Minimum age 105 km: born in 1988 and earlier (19+) on the same track of the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships. 45 km: born in 1991 and earlier (16+) - on a part of the track of the 2007 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships. Time registration The official time registration is assured by the firm Chronorace. During the pick up of the frame numbers, each participant, will receive the time chip in exchange for a guarantee of 2 that isn t included in the price indicated below. Registration fee licence-holders 105 km: 30 (+ 10 if registered after August 8th 2007) 45 km: 20 (+ 10 if registered after August 8th 2007) Included in the price: participation at the Ardenne Bleue Open Trophy, frame number, feeding, the electronic time registration and a T-shirt as a souvenir. License-holders are obliged to present their licence at the receipt of the frame number Registration fee non licence-holder 105 km: 35 (+ 10 if registered after August 8th 2007) 45 km: 25 (+ 10 if registered after August 8th 2007) Included in the price: participation at the Ardenne Bleue Open Trophy, frame number, feeding, the electronic time registration, a T-shirt as a souvenir and a compulsory day insurance. 8 The course The course has a length of 105 km, and is focused on a specific theme : Water. Through the roads and the paths, the participants will race along side the Gileppe dam. They will discover the charming land of Herve as well as the bourgeons of the Vesder valley. 9 Technical Assistance Reminder of the UCI regulations Technical assistance during a race is permitted subject to the conditions below Authorised technical assistance during a race consists of repairs to or the replacement of any part of the bicycle other than the frame. Bike changes are not permitted and the rider must cross the finishing line with the same handlebar number plate that he had at the start Technical assistance shall only be given in the feed/technical assistance zones Spare equipment and tools for repairs must be kept in the zones. Repairs and equipment changes can be carried out by the rider himself or with the help of a team-mate, team mechanic or neutral technical assistance In addition to technical assistance in feed zones, technical assistance is permitted outside these zones only between riders who are members of the same UCI MTB team or of the same national team. Riders may carry tools and spare parts provided that these do not involve any danger to the rider himself or the other competitors.
