1 Electronics and Computer Science International ECTS Files What? The bachelor of Electronics-ICT is a study programme of three years. It is a practical training supported by theoretical subjects whenever necessary. Much attention is paid to electronics and to ICT from start to finish. During the training you deal with future-oriented technologies from different areas such as embedded systems, mechatronics and digital signal processing. The three pillars of the training are electronics, ICT and integrated electronic-ict projects. The training encloses 6 domains, each containing different subject courses. For whom? Exchange students in the study field of electronics and computer science, on bachelor level. All students should have achieved at least 120 ECTS in the study field of electronics and computer science. Prerequisites For students applying for the Electronics Engineering Project approval and allocation is based on a CV with relevant experience and a transcript of records. Learning agreement Students in electronics and computer science can choose courses from the above list. They cannot add courses from other study programmes. 2 Mechatronics with LabVIEW Course unit code: 13ERA9210 Coordinator: Vincent Claes Period: Spring LabVIEW is system design software that provides the tools needed to create and deploy measurement and control systems. This course is an introduction to LabVIEW. A theoretical introduction will be followed by step-by-step training of the graphical programming environment. Using the virtual interface, small graphical programs are developped, including most commonly used data- and loopstructures. Virtualisation and data input/output are also covered during this course. At the end of this course, students have the possibility of obtaining the official CLAD (certified LabVIEW Associate Developer). Certificate through the LabView Academy. 4 Small Business Project Course unit code: 12ERA9030 Coordinator: Period: Autumn This course allows young people to learn all aspects of entrepreneurship and especially to learn an attitude of entrepreneurship through the powerful learning experience. Students create the blueprint of their company: they select a product or service, choose a company structure, carry out market research, search for business partners, gather a starting capital, and write a business plan (with special attention to financial aspects). At the end of the semester students gather their shareholders to present their business plan/prototype and organise a first trade fair. 5 Building Automation Course unit code: 12ERA9040 Coordinator: Dieter Vanrykel Period: Spring This course applies the acquired basic knowledge of PLC to network automation Sequential and combinational programming is used, according to IEC The focus lies not only on practical programming, but also on a holistic approach and the development of solution strategies. 6 Electronics engineering project ECTS credits: 18 Course unit code: 13ERA9250 (Autumn) 13ERA9260 (Spring) Coordinator: Patrick Hilven Period: Autumn or Spring Students do a bachelor project in the field of Electronics and Computer Science incoming students are usually enrolled in a research project of our own research group. An important objective is that a student learns to work individually and to solve a problem. The student has to analyse the problem, search for different solutions and work out a plan. The student needs to collect knowledge in different ways, bring this knowledge and the results of the practical work together and needs to make a report/paper in which the entire project is described.in this engineering project, practical work is always combined with a theoretical background of the subject. Therefore the evaluation is based on three main parts: the activities during the work placement and the student research portfolio; the paper; oral presentation for a professional committee of judges.
