Designing and leading global management projects or projects of functional areas of the company. 2. Using on an habitual basis the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in all its professional performance. 3. Identifying, analysing and administering the sources of information and their contents relevant for the company. 4. Getting integrated in any functional area of the company and/or Organization and developing professionally any management task assigned. Generical: 5. COMMUNICATION IN ENGLISH_N2. Knowing a third Language, which will preferably be English, with an appropriate oral and written production level, according to the graduates necessities. 6. INFORMATION RESEARCH_N3. Administering the acquisition, the structuring, the analysis and the visualization of information in the field of the speciality, and assess in a critical way the results of this procedure. Learning objectives of the subject - Identify the basic typologies of information systems for business and discuss who makes use of them, how are they used them and the benefits they offer. - Identify the essential components of a computer hardware. - Recognize the characteristics of the different types of software. - Identify the concepts and general terms of data management and recognize the basic characteristics of a model of relational databases. - Identify and describe the fundamental components of a telecommunications system. - Identify the different types of networks and describe the uses and the limits of each one of them. - Describe briefly how Internet works, including alternatives to connect to it and the role of the supplier of Internet services. - Discuss the advantages and disadvantages associated to the implementation of a Business Resources planning system, identifying the basic activities and the business objectives common to all transactions processing systems. - Identify the information systems for management and the decision support systems - Explain the uses of the MIS (Management Information Systems) and describe their inputs and outcomes. 1 / 11
2 - Identify and describe the basic components of a DSS (Decision Support System). - Enumerate and analyze the main characteristics of the DSS which give the possibility to be efficient instruments of management support. - Recognize the objectives of a GSS (Group Support Systems) and identify the characteristics which distinguish them from the DSS. - Recognize the tools and techniques used in knowledge management. - Define the concept of Artificial Intelligence and point out the aim of developing artificial intelligence systems. - Enumerate the characteristics and the basic components of expert systems. - Define the term virtual reality and give examples of virtual reality applications. - Identify the main participants in the systems development process and discuss their roles. - Identify and compare the outsourcing or subcontracting of information systems of a company with the existing alternatives and recognize when it is necessary to go for a partial or total subcontracting. - Discuss the main characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of the traditional development, the quick development and the creation of applications prototypes and the life cycle of development of final users systems. - Discuss the principles and limits of the right of privacy of the individual. 11 Qualification system Final exam (60%) Continuous assessment (40%) The final grade for the course (FQ) is calculated from the following formula: FQ Mark = 60% Final Exam + Continuous assessment mark 40% Minimum mark Final Exam 40 points out of 100 The course is passed with a FQ equal or above 50 out of 100 Generic skills are evaluated from the activities undertaken throughout the course and are considered passed if the student gets a score equal to or higher than 3 on the assessment rubric.
