1 Community Bulletin #79 JKC Australia LNG Pty Ltd (JKC) Manigurr-ma Village construction workers pose in front of the final accommodation module, set today, culminating in the safe transportation and placement of 920 accommodation and laundry units. Inset: Management from INPEX, JKC and Laing O Rourke celebrate the milestone ahead of a celebratory BBQ with workers, from left, Mike Rickard, John Bramley, George Flip Glazer, Jerry Sheehan, Rob McDonald, Chris Wheeldon and Steve Jones. Doctor David Hooper (emergency physician) and Paramedic Tony Conaughty with one of the Project s fully equipped ambulances. On site doctors treat workers in house A suite of medical services, including a resident doctor rostered 12 hours per day, six days per week at Blaydin Point, is ensuring the health needs of those working on the Ichthys Project onshore LNG facilities are being met. Medical services to the Project are provided by Hostile Environmental Services (HES). Manager for WA and NT Daryl Cook said the Project s medical facilities are the best he s seen. It s cutting edge, it s incredible. HES provide health services in Australia and Papua New Guinea and in the 20 years I ve been doing this work the Ichthys Project facilities are the best I ve seen, Daryl said. We can manage virtually every patient presentation extremely effectively. The Project general practitioner (GP) service is currently provided by two doctors who work six days per week on a month on, month off roster. While the GP is Blaydin Pointbased, a weekly clinic service is held at Manigurr-ma Village, with that set to increase to daily as resident numbers grow. One paramedic and one registered nurse cover day and night shift, seven days per week while a range of specialist clinical staff are also employed to provide services to the Project including physiotherapists, occupational health advisors, rehabilitation and return to work coordinators and management staff. The clinical facilities at Manigurr-ma Village and Blaydin Point are like mini hospitals and include treatment rooms, patient management rooms, consultation areas and reception areas. Some of the onsite assets include defibrillators, which not only treat patients but manage them back to health, state of the art examination couches and tables, oxygen therapy and a full suite of medications. Both sites also host fully equipped, four-wheel-drive rescue ambulances which are also like mini hospitals on wheels. Providing medical services as part of normal Project operations means they are provided in-house wherever possible, which helps minimise our impact on the local health system.

JKC s Manigurr-ma Village Manager Chuck Doherty said the cyclone siren tests would occur every Tuesday at 9am and would include three bursts of the siren at ten second intervals - this is repeated three times with 30 seconds between each test. Controlled from the entrance security Manigurr-ma Village Manager Chuck Doherty and JKC Security Supervisor Scott Fraser in front of the CCTV near where the cyclone siren switch is located in the Security Office. Watch the Muk Muks in action this weekend Round seven of the Northern Territory Australian Football League will see some exciting skirmishes between legendary local teams. JKC is now in its second year of sponsorship for all of the Youth Teams playing with the Wanderers Football Club also known as the Eagles or Muk Muks. You could say they have history in the Top End the club was one of the first two local footy teams and has been around for 96-years. office, the siren sound equipment is installed at strategic locations across the entire site so that during a cyclone event anyone at the Village can hear the siren and react swiftly according to the Cyclone Safety Management Plan. With almost 500 residents now living at the Village, and the number growing each week, it is vital that the systems are checked regularly and all measures are in place for the welfare of all Manigurrma Village residents and staff. Chuck said preparations for cyclone season began many years ago during the design of the Village and these elements have been implemented during construction including the building of the dining facility which is the site s evacuation centre and can house up to 3,500 people with enough food available for two-weeks. A tie-down and lock-away procedure has also been developed for all other nonfixed furniture and other items should a cyclone occur in the Darwin region.
