Educational Initiative supported more or less by local authorities Aim : get to know the port and maritime/industrial activities Educational itinerary based a lot on personal experiences (interactive) Permanent expositions and on side visits of the port Collaboration with universities and other research institutions Key element In general Port Centres need a strong local anchoring. The objective is to develop a community outreach program that enhances the port legitimacy on the territory and makes social support growing bigger!

14 3- Meeting with the ports centres of Rotterdam, Antwerp, Genoa Outputs of the meeting (28 th January 2010) Location starts to play a major role for future development of this kind of activity Better visibility at a local level seems to be more and more necessary and enhance the collaboration with local actors (private and public, port and city) Opening the port centre to a more general public rather then only students and schools Try to find the right balance between education and entertainment : EDUTAINMENT Stay credible, do not abuse of promotion but remain neutral in the presentation Use the social networks (facebook ) to promote the port centre

15 3- Promote a Port Centres Network AIVP is working on the development of a Port Centres Network (PCN) Federate and develop collaboration between the existing initiatives Giving a better visibility and promote port centres all over the world Introducing a more clear port city dimension in order to enhance their collaboration Offering a benchmark platform for new initiatives looking for successful experiences Make collaborate in a more proactive way citizen, port community and the academic world Get more interested the economic actors to participate and support
