1 File management and e-document production Syllabus coverage table 2 U1A Build Tasks 3 U1B Build Tasks 8 U1A Practice Assignment 13 U1B Practice Assignment 18 For a Unit 1 assignment, you will be provided with a folder containing some files and folders. In the folder there will usually be one to four images, a Word document and a text file. Sometimes the folder will contain a subfolder. You will need to carry out some file management tasks. This will include renaming a folder or a file, creating and naming a subfolder, copying a file from one folder to another and moving a file from one folder to another. You will create a new document and enter text (approximately words). You will also edit a provided file. The editing will require you to save the file with a different filename, insert text, delete text, move text and find and replace text. In either one of the documents, you will need to format text (e.g. bold, centre, justify), create a small table, apply bullets or numbering and carry out a word count. The Build Tasks and Practice Assignments in this chapter will allow you to practise these skills. At the end of an assignment, you should have the following printouts: the created document, the edited document and the screen prints. When you have completed an assignment, check your printouts against the worked copies on the accompanying CD-ROM. NCPA_Chapter 1.indd 1 4/18/07 4:16:30 PM
