2 SUN Civil Society Network Chair & Vice-chair Chair Milo Stanojevich has been the National Director of Care Peru since its establishment in He has worked in leadership positions for CARE for over 27 years. He holds degrees from Princeton, Rutgers and Columbia University. Furthermore he has served on the board of directors for organisations such as the New York Coalition for the Homeless and InterAction. Vice-chair Marie Rumsby has over eight years of experience working in sustainable and international development policy and advocacy, most recently as head of the Hunger and Nutrition Advocacy team at Save the Children UK. Marie is also a Steering Group Member of the Global Nutrition Report and an active member of the International Coalition on Advocacy for Nutrition. She sees tackling malnutrition as one of the most pressing and challenging issues that exist in the world today and is passionate about the role that civil society can play in accelerating progress in this area.
3 From National Civil Society Alliances Christopher Mweembe is an accomplished international development expert with over ten years of experience. He was appointed National Coordinator for the Zimbabwe CSOs SUN Alliance (ZCSOSUNA) in July Prior to this Mr. Mweembe held various positions within the Southern Africa sub-region for Progressio UK. He holds a Master of Science in Social Development from Swansea University; a Postgraduate diploma in Project Planning and Management and a Bachelor of Education degree. Uma Koirala is an academician and researcher with over 25 years of experience in university teaching and research in the area of Health, Nutrition/Food Security and Gender. She is a Technical Committee Member of high level Food Security and Nutrition Coordination Committee under National Planning Commission (NPC), Government of Nepal and leads a Civil Society Alliance for Nutrition, Nepal (CSANN), for SUN. This is an alliance of more than 150 non governmental organizations including media and academia who are working in nutrition specific and sensitive intervention in Nepal. William Chilufya is Country Coordinator of the Zambia Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition Alliance (CSO-SUN) where he provides leadership on the Alliance s advocacy and awareness raising agenda in Zambia. Chilufya was instrumental in organizing civil society around Scaling Up Nutrition in Zambia and has since contributed to establishing a vibrant and successful civil society Alliance working on scaling up nutrition in Zambia. Before CSO-SUN, William Chilufya worked with the Civil Society for Poverty Reduction (CSPR) where he headed the organization s Advocacy and Civic Engagement Program. William Chilufya has a Master s Degree in Development Studies from the University of Free States in South Africa in addition to a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Zambia (UNZA).
4 From Southern countries Christine Muyama is the Nutrition Program Officer at the Graça Machel Trust which works in partnership with Civil Society networks and engages leaders and other key actors in countries as well as at the regional and global level to advocate for nutrition to become a development priority. Prior to this she was the National Coordinator for Uganda Civil Society Coalition on Scaling up Nutrition and a Nutrition Advocacy Officer for Uganda Action for Nutrition Christine holds a Bachelor s degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Kyambogo University Uganda and has participated in numerous trainings and short courses on Nutrition.. Mona Grigis has been the Country Director for Plan International in Laos since May Prior to that, she worked with a variety of organisations in Laos, Timor Leste, Tanzania, Pakistan, Iran, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. Before commencing her work in international health and development, Mona worked for over ten years as a nurse and midwife in Australia. Academically, Mona s achievements include a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) majoring in Political Science, Graduate Diplomas in International Health and Psychiatric Nursing, a Masters of Nursing Studies majoring in Midwifery, and a Doctorate of Public Health. Her doctoral research focussed on organisational development and capacity building in public health. Siapha Kamara CEO of Social Enterprise Development Foundation (SEND) West Africa. Under her leadership, SEND West Africa became operational in Ghana (1998), Liberia (2004) and Sierra Leone (2008). SEND empowers grassroots organizations to hold governments accountable for health, education, agriculture, food security, improving livelihoods and physical infrastructure. Prior to founding SEND Siapha gained a M.Phil and M.A. in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague. Sultana Khanum has more than 35 years of experience in Health Sector both in clinical child health and nutrition and public health policy and health sector reform, health financing, evidence-base health information, implementation and health care management. Sultana has worked directly with numerous national governments, including Bangladesh, Bhutan and DPRK on nutrition and food safety and health systems development. Furthermore she is a member to several professional bodies internationally.
5 Global Members Asma Lateef has been Director of the Bread for the World Institute since Ms. Lateef is responsible for implementing the Institute s analysis and education on policy issues related to U.S. and global hunger, malnutrition and poverty. Since 2010, she has been involved in efforts to establish and support the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement. She now serves on the Steering Committee of the SUN Movement s Civil Society Network and is also a member of the executive committee of the 1,000 Days Advocacy Working Group. Ms. Lateef has a master s degree in economics from the University of Maryland, a post-graduate diploma in economics from the London School of Economics and a bachelor s degree in Geography from McGill University. Carolyn MacDonald is the Nutrition Director for World Vision International (WVI) and founder of the WVI Nutrition Centre of Expertise. She holds a MSc and PhD in Nutrition from the University of Guelph. Working for over 25 years in international nutrition programming, policy and research, she has recently spear-heading WVI s nutrition scale-up to over 55 countries. Carolyn has been serving as Steering Group member of the global Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Civil Society Network (CSN) since Elise Rodriguez is the Head of Hunger and Nutrition in Action contre la Faim s Policy and advocacy Unit. Elise has been working on the field of communications, policy and advocacy for non-governmental organizations for the last 13 years. She is graduated with a Master in Political Communication. She has an extensive experience on public campaigning and media work on HIV/health, education and hunger issues. She has been elected as a member of the SUN CSN in Jennifer Thompson joined Concern Worldwide in 2004 and has held a variety of roles at both HQ and country level since then. As part of her role as Advocacy Officer for Hunger, Jennifer is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with civil society organizations, coalitions, government officials and think tanks and is active in a number of steering groups. She is currently on the Steering Committee of the European Food Security Working Group of CONCORD, is a member of the ICN2 CSO Liaison Group as well as on the Leadership Group of the International Coalition on Advocacy for Nutrition (ICAN) and is a member of the Nutrition Working Group of the Civil Society Mechanism.
6 Global Members Kate Goertzen works as a Senior Associate Nutrition, Child Health at ACTION, USA. Kate is also active in the Leadership Group of the International Coalition on Nutrition (ICAN). Prior to joining ACTION Kate focussed on HIV/AIDS policy and advocacy at The Foundation for AIDS Research. Here she worked on increasing the capacity of civil society advocates to develop data informed advocacy movements. Victoria Quinn joined Helen Keller International in 2006 as Senior Vice President of Programs. Prior to this Dr. Quinn served as the senior technical manager for the LINKAGES Project s flagship infant and young child feeding programs in Bolivia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Madagascar and the Horn of Africa and co-directed AED s Center for Nutrition. She received her Bachelors and Masters in nutrition from U.C. Berkeley and Cornell University, respectively, and her Doctorate from Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Dr. Quinn s areas of expertise include nutrition policy and surveillance, food and nutrition security, infant and young child feeding, micronutrients and women s nutrition.
7 From Academia & Observers Representatives of the SUN CSN academic sub-committee & members of the SUN CSN Steering Group Michael Krawinkel is a Professor for Human Nutrition at the Institute of Nutritional Sciences and department of Paediatrics at the University of Giessen in Germany. His main areas of work and interest are Nutrition in developing countries and improving dietary habits of children and adolescents in Germany through folic acid intake. He is furthermore an Advisor to various German organisations including the Federal Ministry of economic cooperation and development. Vishweshwaraiah Prakash is currently working as Distinguished Scientist of CSIR-India in the prime area of Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition Security, Safety of Nutritionals, Applied Nutrition, Bioavailability of Nutritionals, Food Safety and Nutraceuticals with a focus on Policy matters and Nutritional Intervention with the masses especially from a non-governmental organisation where he is Honorary Director of Research, Innovation and Development at JSS Group of Institutions at Mysore, India. Observers Christine Campeau - SUN Movement Secretariat Christine Campeau is Policy Advisor for the SUN Movement Secretariat as of January Previously she served as Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance Food Campaign Coordinator from and Climate Change and Food Security Advisor for Caritas Internationalis, Geneva and Rome, since She holds a Masters of International Relations from Webster University, Geneva Switzerland, with combined focuses on international diplomacy and climateinduced migration. Her personal goal is to work with committed people from farmers organizations, social movements, research institutions, governments and the private sector to build resilient food systems that ensure global food and nutrition security.
