3 Accessing the MyDesk application 1. Using an internet browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, type in the address below appropriate to your user account: USSM= SGSD= SESO= 2. You will use the same address even if you travel to other countries; these addresses determine your home location, not your current location. Note- It may help to add *.chemtura.com to the list of websites trusted by your browser. 3. If you already have the client installed, skip to step 8. If not, you will be prompted to install the client. Check off the box that you agree to the license agreement and click on INSTALL. 4. What happens next will depend on your Internet browser. For Microsoft Internet Explorer 10, you will need to click on Run that appears at the bottom of the screen: 5. Then click on Install: Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 3
4 6. Click on Allow if prompted: 7. When asked to Enter your work or server address, just hit Cancel: 8. For the user name and password, enter in the same credentials you would use to log in to the Chemtura network, such as at your desktop computer. Click Log On. 9. You will now see the list of applications available to your account. The majority of the users will access one of the production applications: USSM= Chemtura MyDesk SGSD= AP MyDesk SESO= EU MyDesk Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 4
5 Note- If you are ever asked to be involved with testing, you will be asked to use the MyDesk Acceptance application. 10. You will now see a Windows Desktop that looks very similar to Windows 7. All available applications will be listed under the Start Menu, with the more popular applications also on the Desktop. Note- The login process may be slow the first time you connect to MyDesk. This is because your profile is being created; it should only be this slow the first time. Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 5
6 11. To exit MyDesk, click on the Start Menu and then the Log Off button: 12. MyDesk is configured to only allow each user to have one session open at a time. If you try to log in twice, you will get the below message. If you get disconnected due to network or some other issue, please wait two minutes before logging back in or you may get the same message. If you waited and you still cannot log back in, please call the help desk and tell them to disconnect or log off your existing session. NOTE: Internet Explorer Favorites, Mapped Network Drives, Printers, Outlook signatures, and other settings may not migrate from the old MyAccess to MyDesk. This is because of the new server operating system and type of user profiles it now users. You will need to move these items manually (please read on); sorry for the inconvenience. 7 First time logging in to MyDesk (or after profile reset) The first time you log in to MyDesk (or after your profile gets reset) will take a little longer since your profile has to be built. Any user settings, like Outlook, printers, manually mapped drives, application customizations, language or keyboard changes, etc. will need to be reconfigured. Please review each item in its specific topic below. First time opening Outlook The first time you log in to MyDesk (or after your profile gets reset) and open Outlook, it will automatically configure itself with some user prompting. 1. 8 2. Wait until your address appears and click on Next again. 3. Click on Finish. Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 8
9 4. Enter your full name and initials. 5. Click OK when prompted by Live Meeting. 6. Outlook is ready to use. Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 9
10 Outlook Signature 1. Signatures from Outlook will not migrate to the new Outlook 2010 in MyDesk. You will need to manually copy and paste the signatures. In Outlook 2010, click on File and then Options: 2. Click on Mail and then Signatures: Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 10
11 3. Click on New, type in a name for the signature, and click on OK: 4. You can then paste your old signature or design a new one in the Edit signature box. Using the two drop down lists, you can choose to have this signature be your default for new messages and/or for replies/forwards. When finished, click on OK twice. Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 11
12 Changing the screen resolution 1. MyDesk is published at 1024x768 and while that may be changed on the client device, it cannot be set automatically for all users. The user is responsible for manually setting a different resolution. 2. Once logged in to the website (mydesk.chemtura.com, eumydesk.chemtura.com, apmydesk.chemtura.com), the user has the option to change the resolution before launching the MyDesk desktop. Click on the Settings link. 3. Select the desired resolution from the User Experience drop down box and click on Save. Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 12
13 4. Thin clients have their resolution configured globally, although some will allow the user to force a different resolution. On a Wyse R10L Thin Client for instance, go to System Settings, Display, and select the desired resolution from the Resolution drop down list. Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 13
14 Choosing a Different Language Changing the system language 5. Click on the Start Menu button and select Control Panel: 6. Select Region and Language: 7. Select the Keyboards and Languages tab. Select the appropriate language under Choose a display language. Click on OK and then log off when prompted. The next time you log in, the Windows system language will be changed. 15 Changing Office Communicator s language 1. Select Options from the Tools menu in Office Communicator: 2. Select General in the left window. Then select the desired language from the Communicator language drop down box and click on OK. Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 15
16 Changing the keyboard format 1. Select Region and Language from the Control Panel under the Start Menu. Switch to the Keyboards and Languages tab and click on Change keyboards You should then be able to select the keyboard from the list, however, you may add additional keyboards if the desired one is not there by clicking on Add. Scroll through the list and find the correct format and click on OK. 2. Highlight the newly added keyboard format. Click on OK twice. Changing the Google.com home page Google.com will default to the language and region that the MyDesk servers are in, which means it will most likely be a different country than the one you are in. To automatically go to the English home page of Google, type into the address bar of Internet Explorer. You can also find a list of the Google site for each country at Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 16
17 Printers 1. Click on the Start Menu button and select Control Panel: 2. Select Devices and Printers: 3. Expand the Printers and Faxes group. You should see the default printer that is connected to your client device. If not, your printer may not be compatible with MyDesk and you will need to open a support case. Right click on the printer you use the most and select Set as default printer. 4. To add a new networked printer, click on Add a printer and then select Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer : Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 17
18 5. If you do not see the desired printer, then select The printer that I want isn t listed: 6. Type in the name of the printer, click on Next twice, then Finish. The print servers that should be used in MyDesk are as follows: MyDesk (Americas) = \\USMIPS02\printername EUMyDesk (EMEA) = \\SESOPS03\printername OR \\USMIEUPS01\printername *Note: USMIEUPS01 has mostly specialty printers, like label makers. EMEA users should no longer use the USMIPS03 print server. APMyDesk (APAC) = \\SGSDPS01\printername NOTE: If you do not know the exact name of the printer, you may select to Find a printer in the directory instead. You may then search by partial name or printer location. Please keep in mind that the search can only return the first 30 printers, so if a larger number of printers fits your credentials, you may not see the one you want. 20 Add a Mapped Network Drive 5. Start Windows Explorer: 6. Right click on Computer and select Map network drive 7. Select the drive letter you want to use. Type in the path to the folder share and click on Finish: Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 20
21 Adding PST files to Outlook The steps below provide a quick guide to add your PST files to Outlook in MyDesk. 1. Start Outlook in MyAccess and right click on the PST folder you want to add from the left window pane. Select Properties from the pop up list. 2. Click on the Advanced tab and note the complete path in the Filename path. 3. Open Outlook 2010 in MyDesk and click on File. Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 21
22 4. Click on Open. 5. Click on Open Outlook Data Files. 6. Type the complete path and name of the Personal folder from step 2 and click on OK. 7. Click to open your Folder. 8. Then select your Personal folder (PST) to Map it. Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 22
23 Applications not available in MyDesk The following applications are not yet, or will not be, supported in MyDesk. Please contact support to inquire how you many access these if needed: 1. Microsoft Project Professional 2010 (*Available by Request) 2. Microsoft Visio Professional 2010 (*Available by Request) 3. Hyperion / TM1 (In progress for USSM MyDesk) 4. ARM (Users should request a local install to their desktop) 5. TRM (Access to this is being reviewed, use MyAccess for now) 6. Caseware (Access to this is being reviewed, use MyAccess for now) 7. Lotus Notes (Will not be supported) 8. DBText (Will not be supported) 9. Adobe Professional (Will not be supported) 10. Bomgar (Will not be supported) 11. SAP Adobe Form Design (This is still available in XenDesktop and will not be in MyDesk) 12. Link Indexer (Continue to access from local desktop installation) 13. KoFax (Continue to access from local desktop installation) 14. RWD (Access to this is being reviewed, use MyAccess for now) *To request available applications Request Chemtura MyDesk supported software (i.e. Project and Visio) by placing a Service Request through SNOW Select Services under Order Things Chose Applications Then I want access to an existing Application (NON-SAP) Search for your application (just click search to get a full list) Fill out and submit the form Chemtura MyDesk User Guide Page 23
