5 executive team DAVID LOEWY Principal and Chief Creative Officer Principal David Loewy is focused on steering businesses to digital growth and success. Over his 18 years in the interactive business, David has offered guidance to some of the most influential companies and organizations in the country, from strategizing and developing new product ideas as part of the LexisNexis Innovation Dream Team, to consulting for the National Cancer Institute on user experience and usability issues. He brings a wealth of experience from the Fortune 500 companies he s worked with, like Lilly, McGraw-Hill, and Johnson & Johnson, but he d be the first to say he s learned even more from the startups he s helped to thrive, like Phanfare, Sinch and ClubCard. David knows how to phase legendary retail brands into e-commerce, and how to grow a fledgling digital product from an idea to runaway hit. He knows how to monetize websites, build traffic, maximize exposure, and create online strategies that truly engage an audience. He is also the communicator, the facilitator and the arbitrator; sometimes the critical reviewer, always the steady hand. He has the rare ability to manage a team in a way that balances the spontaneous, inherently rebellious intensity of creativity with the discipline and methodology of production. And he brings all this knowledge from a unique perspective, since he kicked off his career in the interactive world as an award-winning designer and creative director doing work for A-list clients like Forbes, Motorola, and McKinsey and Company. Before launching Loewy in 1996, David was Creative Director of CMP Media, where he spearheaded the Internet launch of their leading magazines in the business and technology industries. 6 DONALD MAY Creative Director Form and function merge gracefully in the work of Donald May, who has been designing for the digital world for more than half of his 15-year career. Donald May has served in senior creative and strategic roles with Atlantic Records, where he was an Art Director and Designer; Grey Advertising, where he was Creative Director; Digital Pulp, where he was also Creative Director; and, most recently, Terk Technologies, where he was Communications Design Director. A real brand builder and original thinker, his strength lies in creating strategic, targeted visual communications that deliver clear results for clients. 10 Janet Kain Magento ecommerce site Janet Kain had a great product. What the company needed was a better way to market it and its high-end, tony brand. A virtual unknown, JK sought to increase brand awareness, rejuvenate its website so that the sophistication of its pillows and throws would come across to clients online, and allow customers to make purchases on the site. In addition, JK needed an efficient way to manage its inventory. Loewy developed a robust Magento ecommerce store aimed at JK s three target customers retailers, interior designers, and urban coastal consumers. The last demographic, a new one for JK, consists of affluent purchasers and poses a new revenue stream for the pillow-maker. For retailers and interior designers, we built a trade subsite where those customers could buy at a discount, order swatches, and print tear sheets, among other things. A key feature of the updated JK site is the LookBook, where consumers can view pillows and accessories in a variety of settings before making a purchase. We also worked extensively with the client to craft a back-end system that would accurately and efficiently keep track of the fabric in JK s inventory.

12 The Franklin Mint Challenge The Franklin Mint came to Loewy to enhance its current online offering by providing consumers with a tool that can personalize and add sentimental value to their jewelry purchases. The customizer needed to be intuitive and require minimal steps while still being flexible enough to accommodate multiple product types. Each product would have customizable metal, stones and engraving options which could result in thousands of combinations. Image previews of each combination must be generated for the user to see what they created. The site must be structured and optimized for real-time customization without lag or long loading times.

13 The Franklin Mint Solution The new jewelry customizer is a simple, intuitive tool that allows consumers to choose their metals, gem types and the positioning of the stone on a ring, necklace or bracelet. It also supports custom engraving and a rich, detailed representation of the final piece prior to the final purchase. The site is structured and optimized for real time customization with minimal latency. The tool is built using PHP, Ajax and Javascript with integration points into the Magento Enterprise product database. In addition, we developed APIs for Franklin Mint s NetSuite legacy billing system and for it s suppliers. Each customized product request is calculated based on the pricing of each variable (gem, metal, engraving and size) and then sent through API s to the suppliers for assembly and distribution. Note: To optimize graphic performance, we integrated with Liquid Pixels, a leading supplier of advanced Dynamic imaging solutions. With Liquid Pixels hosted solution we were able to deliver real-time product enhancements, customization and configuration.

22 Waterlogic Challenge With an advanced water-purification technology in hand and an IPO in the works, Waterlogic needed to refresh its brand image and unveil a Web site that would underscore its reputation for ingenuity. The company also wanted to leverage its global presence while maintaining a unified look and feel across all operating regions. In addition, Waterlogic would need an online storage repository for its documents product information, videos, installation guides, etc. so they could be accessed, distributed, and managed by key personnel anytime, anywhere. Solution Loewy conducted extensive research, which included competitive analysis and a review of Waterlogic s branding guidelines, to develop a strategy for short- and long-term goals. We then tackled the Information Architecture, mapping out a site structure and flow that would result in the optimal online experience for Waterlogic s diverse user base.

23 Waterlogic (coninued) Loewy designed and developed two Web sites a corporate site, with six languages represented, and a stand-alone site for Waterlogic s Firewall, geared at OEMs. We used Wordpress for the content management system (CMS), creating a password-protected document library that could be managed easily by Waterlogic s marketing team. The CMS can be used to control user rights and privileges, giving corporate Web site editors access to all content while allowing each country to manage and edit its respective site. Waterlogic also can use the CMS to systemize site updates across different business units. For example, a page update in English will generate a page update in other languages as well.

26 Holiday Pro Holiday Pro serves large retailers such as Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bergdorf Goodman by providing custom-designed holiday décor and props. They came to us to design their new e-commerce experience. Holiday Pro had previously sold its products exclusively through printed catalogs and a sales team. WEBPICK OF THE DAY Working closely with the client, Loewy brought the Holiday Pro brand and catalog to life with animation and an interactive online catalog design. From the home page, users can experience the client s extensive product line by browsing a carousel of product highlights from seven categories. Once engaged, the user can explore hundreds of products in a wide variety of colors, sizes, and patterns.

30 Club Card The Club Card came to Loewy to develop its new brand and its online product, which will revolutionize traditional retail loyalty programs. The vision is to provide consumers with a one-price yearly subscription that will deliver discounts from potentially thousands of participating retailers. The Club Card needed a brand and an online presence that would appeal to its core audience of consumers and retailers. And behind the scenes, it required a back-end application design to help them track their Club Card activity. Our first step was to create a new brand identity for the Club Card that visually symbolizes discounts and speaks to the core audience. Once the brand and tone of voice were established, we began the development of the Club Card website, which includes areas for consumers and retailers to track and manage their accounts. IPhone and mobile application designs were then created to illustrate the Club Card s accessibility. Now that the prototype is complete, we are working on technology integration and the strategy for their integrated marketing strategy.
