RESEARCH INTERESTS Primary research interests include the role of cognition as it relates to motivation, self-regulation, and decision making among entrepreneurs. Interests also include psychological capital, subjective well-being, and other constructs that facilitate positive behaviors and successful outcomes for entrepreneurs and their organizations. DISSERTATION TOPIC My dissertation investigates self-regulation as it contributes to the success and subjective well-being of entrepreneurs, while also examining the role of primary motives in the goal pursuit process. More specifically, I examine the self-regulatory constructs of self-control, locomotion, and assessment as facilitating goal progress, success, and higher levels of subjective well-being among entrepreneurs. I also address the importance of considering primary motives when defining success at the individual and firm level, and the influence of motives on subjective well-being. The study contributes to the current knowledge of cognitive processes and behaviors that facilitate positive outcomes by providing new insight on the role of self-regulation in entrepreneurs success and well-being, by examining relevant self-regulatory constructs that have not been applied in entrepreneurship, and by providing an alternate understanding of how to conceptualize and measure success among entrepreneurs. My dissertation committee chair is Robert A. Baron, and committee members include Bruce Barringer, Brandon Mueller, and Edward Burkley.
