1 Tentative Elementary Tech Mod List - MCPS (Subject to Approval) ActivInspire 1.6 Adobe Reader X Adobe Premiere Elements 10.0 The Promethean software that supports the use of the Promethean interactive whiteboard to create interactive, engaging flipcharts for instruction. Allows users to view, print and search Adobe PDF files. Allows users to fill in and save Adobe PDF files created in Adobe Acrobat 8 or 9. Contains a read-aloud feature that meets the 508 requirements. 1 copy per school Adobe Premiere Elements 9.0 gives users tools to capture video to their computer, edit it, add titles, music, narration, special effects and then output a finished movie back to videotape, DVD, or the Web. Audacity Audacity gives students and teachers the ability to record and edit audio. Bailey s Bookhouse Network 1.0 Boardmaker Plus Licenses depend on special education programs. The CD is required to run the program. All CD s are catalogued in the Media Center. Bailey s Bookhouse helps primary students explore letters, words, sentences, rhyming and stories. Students learn the sounds and meanings of letters, words, sentences, rhymes and stories. All directions and written words are spoken. Boardmaker Plus allows instructors to create printed materials with Picture Communication Symbols (PCS) and other pictures and graphics. It also provides voice, sound, animation and video capabilities. To access and request updated forms and information about Acrobat forms, go to: epartments/forms/ NEW: Schools will receive a firewire card for the machine where the software will be installed. (ITSS installation of software and hardware required) Schools currently have this software Schools must have the CD in order to use this program. CDs are distributed based on the following programs at each school: School/Community-Based, LFI, Speech & Language, & Autism. 2 Classroom Suite 4 by Intellitools Clicker 5.2 Licensed for Autism, PEP, School/Community- Based and LFI classrooms, and Speech and Language Pathologists in schools Available on all machines Intellitools Classroom Suite 4 combines direct instruction with a flexible tool environment to help students achieve mastery in reading, writing and math. Teachers can make overlays for the Intellikeys Keyboard using Overlay Maker 3 to be used with activities made in Classroom Suite 4. Clicker 5 is a powerful, yet easy-to-use, writing and multimedia tool. Clicker 5 is supported with high quality speech features and is easy to customize for individual needs. It also has a wide range of accessibility options for users who cannot use a mouse or keyboard. Clicker 5 can only be used on 60 machines at one time due to licensing. FileMaker Pro 11 Advanced Graph Club 2.0 FileMaker Pro 11 is database software that allows multiple tables to reside in one file and makes the management of data and information, such as student biographical and achievement data, easy to view and use. This elementary graphing program has a simple user interface that enables students to create several simple types of graphs (bar, pie and pictographs) or explore programgenerated graphs. ImageMate This program is used with an Elmo document camera to view documents or objects along with an LCD projector or television and capture still images and video. 3 ImageBlender 3 ImageBlender from Tech4Learning is an image-editing software that allows students to edit images and create new art that can be used in multimedia assignments. Inspiration 9 This program is a visual learning tool that enables students in grades 4-12 to develop ideas and organize thinking. Inspiration's integrated diagramming and outlining environments work together to help students comprehend concepts and information. IntelliKeys Control Panel Internet Explorer 9 Licensed LFI special education programs IntelliKeys is an alternative keyboard that can be customized for use by students who might have difficulty with a standard keyboard. Customization can be done through the control panel. See also Overlay Maker 3. Internet Explorer 9 provides tabbed browsing, an instant search box, and access to RSS feeds (Really simple Syndication: Web formats used to publish frequently updated works, such as news headlines and blog entries) and includes Silverlight and Flash plugins. Kidspiration 3 Like Inspiration, this program, geared for grades K-3, helps students organize and categorize information, brainstorm ideas, make connections, understand concepts, and express and share their thoughts. Kurzweil Version 13 All elementary schools will have at least 5 licenses. Some schools will have more if they purchased licenses on their own. Kurzweil is a text-to-speech reading and writing program. The application is able to scan printed text and convert PDF documents into Kurzweil format. It also will read Word documents. Kurzweil is a text-to-speech software that can be used by all students. Students with the screen reader accommodation can only use it for testing. Office of the Chief Technology Officer ~ 3 ~
4 LanSchool Computer Management For the computer lab only LanSchool classroom management software connects the instructor s computer with every computer in a networked computer lab. The software allows the instructor to communicate, monitor, or collaborate with students individually or as a group. NEW SOFTWARE Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Platinum/Type to Learn Jr. 1 network version per school Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Platinum and Type to Learn Jr are interactive keyboarding programs that track and save student progress as they complete different lessons. The keyboarding lessons provide a combination of demonstration, review, practice, and testing. Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing Platinum replaces Type to Learn in schools with grades K- 5. Primary schools currently have Type to Learn Jr. Microsoft Office 2010 Calculating Crew Carnival Countdown Microsoft Office Professional contains a wordprocessing program (Word), a slide presentation program (PowerPoint), a spreadsheet program (Excel), a database program (Access), a desktop publishing program (Publisher), an electronic notebook program (OneNote), and an program (Outlook). Has the ability to save as PDF, XPS, HTML, and OpenDocument formats. Students accompany the adventurous Mighty Math Calculating Crew in challenging activities where they use multiplication and division of whole numbers and decimals, number line concepts, 3D shapes and their properties, and money transactions. 5 Number Heroes Zoo Zillions Natural Reader 10 Neo Manager 3.6 Overlay Maker 3.1 by Intellitools Licensed LFI special education programs Number Heroes hosts four activities that encourage students to learn and master skills in fractions, multiplication, division, 2D geometry, and more. Zoo Zillions provides basic math skills practice for primary learners including addition, subtraction, story problems, number facts, 3D shapes, counting money, and making change. Natural Reader is text-to-speech software which can read text from Word, Web pages, PDFs, and s aloud to students. NEO Manager, formerly known as AlphaSmart Manager, is used to send files and SmartApplets to the NEOs, change settings on the NEOs, as well as retrieve files from the NEO to your computer. This can be used with the SmartOption Mobile lab or a single NEO plugged directly into your computer. Intellitools Overlay Maker allows instructors to create overlays for the Intellikeys alternative keyboard. Paint.NET Paint.NET is image-editing software that allows students and teachers to easily edit photos and images. Pixie 2 Pixie is a paint and draw program that includes text features, clip art, and voice recording that students and teachers can use to create podcasts, online story books, videos and flash animations for assignments. This is software manager can found in the Staff Applications folder on MCPS computers. 6 PowerTalk PowerTalk is text-to-speech software which will read PowerPoint presentations aloud. WebBlender 2 WebBlender from Tech4Learning allows students to incorporate images, art, and audio into interactive Web sites and presentations. Windows DVD maker Windows Live Movie Maker Windows Photo Story WinTV 7 Classroom instructional machines Allows staff to make and copy CDs and DVDs. Windows Live Movie Maker allows students and staff to create, edit, and share movies via the Web, or CD. Windows Photo Story allows students to write photo stories using digital photographs and adding special effects. WinTV 7 allows users to view available television programs through the computer. WordQ 3.0 Tech Mod schools will share 250 licenses. WordQ word prediction and text-to-speech software makes writing easier for people with learning disabilities. WordQ suggests words for students to use and provides spoken feedback to help them find mistakes. This is special education software found in the Applications folder on the MCPS computers.
