Conduct four college level courses in SPEA Undergraduate Criminal Justice each semester. Security Investigator, March 2003 to August 2007 Horseshoe Casino, Hammond, IN Responsible for all investigations of incidents that occurred in the casino. Managed and prepared confidential reports on employees, guests and other related areas. Supervised scenes and co-ordinated security personnel to assist in investigations. Chief of Police, October 3, 1993 to March 21, 2003 St. John, IN Responsible for public relations and total quality management of the department. Administered orientation program for applicants. As Chief was responsible for implementing and administering two major community partnerships grants from the federal government. Reviewed and updated policy and procedure manual for the department. Police Officer, 1973 to 1993 Merrillville Police Department, Merrillville, IN Sworn in as patrol officer in During the 20 years as a police officer in Merrillville held the ranks of Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Detective, Patrol Commander and Chief of Detectives. Retired after 20 years of service. Chief of Detectives, Merrillville Police Department, Merrillville, IN Supervised eight detectives and two technicians. Accountable for all major crime scene investigations. Adjunct Professor, 1992 to 2005 Adjunct Professor for the School of Public and Environment Affairs in the criminal justice field. Responsible for lesson plans, curriculum and testing materials. Taught one course every semester. Director of Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Located at Responsible for the operation, budgeting, scheduling, record keeping and yearly training of 1,300 sworn police officers in 30 police agencies. 2

Responsible for training police officers to become certified instructors in Indiana. COLLEGE AND COMMUNITY SERVICE School of Public & Environmental Affairs (SPEA) SPEA Criminal Justice Committee for Assistant Professor (2011) Member of the search committee. Attended several meetings concerning the applications, marketing of the applicants. Developed questions to use for the interview process. Interviewed and rated applicants. SPEA Curriculum Committee (2010-Present) Implemented a format to use for a 3 year rotation to be used by each department. Reviewed curriculum rotation introduced for SPEA BSCJ and made suggestions. SPEA CJ Faculty Rotation (2011) Developed a 3 year rotation for CJ classes. Developed information sheet for core and general requirement classes for CJ. Developed and implemented a work sheet for the 4 year degree in SPEA Criminal Justice. This showed the students all the classes that were needed to obtain their Bachelor s degree. Developed a yearly spread sheet that showed each CJ faculty the classes hours and days of the week they were teaching for the calendar year. Adjunct Mentor (2010 to Present) Attended yearly adjunct meeting for SPEA. Assigned to an adjunct lecturer which I was responsible to oversee the syllabus, outline, pre and post tests. Assured that the adjunct instructor was following the policy and procedures set forth by SPEA and IUN. Assisted in events for Criminal Justice Week at IUN sponsored by SPEA Criminal Justice (2008 to Present) Put together a Murder Mystery for SPEA Criminal Justice Week that lasted 2 hours. This was to try and recruit and inform other students about SPEA and Criminal Justice. Attended Criminal Justice Career Days and assisted students and different representatives from the Criminal Justice field. SPEA Chronic Probation and Dismissal Committee (2011-Present) Developed a project site in Oncourse to assist the faculty for SPEA students that were on probation. Project enabled faculty members to enter the program an insert comments for students in their class that were on the list. Project site enabled the advisor to have a current update on each student that was on academic probation Student Advisor (2011 to Present) Assisted in advising seventy CJ students and new Freshmen with developing a 4 year plan for the Criminal Justice students. Assisted the students in scheduling the classes for the Fall semester. Explained to the students the different types of courses and what is required for their degree. Worked with the student to develop a schedule to meet their needs and also assisted the students in registering for classes. 3

4 Indiana University Northwest Campus Chair of Search Committee for IUN Police Chief (2012) Was appointed to chair the search and screen committee for the Police Chief at Indiana University Northwest. In Progress. Equity Advisor (2008 to Present) Attended training for equity advisor which sits on search committees to advise and make sure equity is applied to all applicants Criminal Justice Student Association (2008 to Present) Attended meetings concerning the club and acted as advisor. Assisted in Toys for Tots the CJSA sponsored. CHHS Curriculum Committee ( ) Appointed to the College of Health and Human Services to sit on the curriculum committee. Attended meetings and reviewed curriculum for courses. Meeting with Chancellor Lowe (2011) Attended a meeting with several other employees from IUN that was hosted by Chancellor Lowe. There was a table discussion about issues concerning safety on campus, new technology, and internet courses for the future. Attended meeting conducted by Dr. Becky Torstrick Asst. Vice President for Regional Affairs and Academic Planning. (2011) Meeting dealt with academic advisors from the different schools at IUN. There was discussion on different programs and ideas for advising students. Dr. Torstrick gave information on the goals for the University and how advising was one of the main areas to keep retention. The information gathered at the session will be used to enhance the advising personnel at the campus. Attended Training on Interviewing and Selecting New Employees Instruction was given by Mary McCann IU Human Resource Services. Topics included recruitment and selection goals, behavioral interviewing, skills analysis and definitions. Attended Associate Faculty and Lecturers Conferences in Attended lecture given by Jillian Kinzie on Learning Experiences that Promote Student Engagement and Success.Attended training given by Gipsi Sera, I.U. Bloomington "If you send it, they will come". This session demonstrated the use of electronic resources increase students learning process. Attended round table discussion in areas on teaching, technology and the world of academia. Spoke to several other academic lectures from different areas and discussed different ideals on how to inspire students to achieve their fullest potential. Attended lecture given by Marcia Dixson, "Thirty years of teaching: Have I learned anything?" Community Schererville Police Explorer Cadet Program (2010 to Present) Attended monthly meetings. Gave presentations on homicide, robbery, burglary investigations. Gave lecture on different career paths in the criminal justice system. Instructed cadets on how to prepare for an interview and gave a mock interview. Had cadets take practice tests for law enforcement hiring. Training was every 1 st Monday of the month. 4

5 Meals on Wheels (2011 to Present) Attended training for the Meals on Wheels sponsored by CJSA. Assisted in giving meals out every third Thursday of the month. Lake County Fair in Crown Point, Indiana. ( ) IUN had a booth at the fair grounds for information concerning the campus. I met many people and spoke to them about different programs at IUN and handed out marketing material. Several people completed information request forms. Xtreme Trail Run (2011) Fundraiser for Opportunity Enterprises which benefits Gadriel's Horn a non-profit shelter which provide emergency housing assistance for individuals and families. On May 30, 2011 memorial Day assisted in the SPEA event for IUN to sponsor a water station along the trail. Responsible for giving water to the runners as they passed our station. The event went well and there were approximately 400 runners that attended the event. 5
