1 Accessing and utilizing CCSF Spam Filter Program Barracuda To combat the enormous amount of spam s that CCSF employees receive on a daily basis, CCSF Technology Division uses the spam filtering program, Barracuda, to prevent the delivery of the majority of spam s to the users. CCSF employees would on occasions receive notifications from Barracuda (sender as: CCSF Spam Firewall - barracuda.ccsf.cc.ca.us" [email protected]), with the Subject: Spam Quarantine Summary, and would have the opportunity to manage their personal Barracuda account and decide whether to allow or block the delivery of questionable (s). *Click on the link to access your Barracuda Account Sample notification from Barracuda Simply click on either link: the Manage your allowed / blocked list or View your entire Quarantine inbox or manage your preferences to access your Barracuda account. If you received the error message: Error: Session Expired, you will have to enter your username and password to access your Barracuda account. Last updated: Page 1
2 *If you received this error message, you must create a new password Sample of login page of Barracuda. The log in for Barracuda account is different from your other CCSF accounts (Windows Computer/Network, GroupWise , Banner, Web4, CMS, Hills/Fog etc.) The username is similar to your GroupWise address, e.g. your name is John Doe and your GroupWise address is [email protected], your Barracuda account username would be [email protected]. For John W. Smith whose GroupWise address is [email protected], the Barracuda account username would be [email protected]. If you do not remember your Barracuda account password, or you have never received the password, you can create a new password by simply type in your username, e.g. [email protected], and click on the Create New Password button at the bottom of the log in page. An would be sent to your GroupWise account with the Subject: User Quarantine Account Information, and would contain your username and password, and a link to access Barracuda. Last updated: Page 2

If you do not have an notification from Barracuda, you can get to the login page of Barracuda by clicking on the following link: Once you logged into your Barracuda account, you can deal with individual by selecting the appropriate action (Deliver, Whitelist, Delete, and View) in the Quarantine Inbox: Deliver this particular would be delivered, but future (s) from this sender might still be blocked Whitelist all s from this sender would be delivered to your GroupWise Delete this particular would be deleted, future (s) from this sender might still be blocked View review this particular before deciding what additional action to take Last updated: Page 3
4 *Select multiple s and perform action at the same time or work on individual Sample Quarantine Inbox You can use the checkbox on the left of the messages to select multiple s and perform the appropriate action (Deliver, Whitelist, and Delete) to all selected s at the same time. In Preferences, you can manage your Whitelist/Blacklist, Quarantine Settings, Spam Settings, and Password. The only two settings that you should modify are Whitelist/Blacklist and Password. Whitelist/Blacklist allow or block particular address(es) or all s from the same domain. o o Adding an address in Allowed Addresses and Domains (Whitelist) means that you have explicitly asked Barracuda to permit delivery of any and all future (s) from this address. Blocked Addresses and Domains (Blacklist) means that you have explicitly asked Barracuda to stop delivery of any and all future (s) from this address (e.g. [email protected]) or all s from the same domain, e.g. hackers.com. Beware that if you put in yahoo.com, all s from yahoo.com would be blocked, so use this with extreme caution. Last updated: Page 4
