2 Your username will always be your address. When you first log in, please check Remember me on this computer so that you will not need to enter in your information unless you clear your cookies. If you forget your password, please click Forgot Your Password? and the screen will prompt you to enter your address, and it will be mailed to you. CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD To change your password, once you have logged in, under User Options, select the password option. You will be prompted to enter your old password, a new password and to confirm it. Select Save when complete. Your administrator has taken the time to set up your account options. The next screen that you will see is your Home Screen: HOW TO REVIEW RECENT MESSAGES From Above screen you can view recent mail messages along with statistics for your account. Before making changes to your account (User Options Tab), please contact your systems administrator, as they may have specific guidelines for you to follow. Page 2 of 8

3 WHITELISTING (Allow List) Whitelisting allows you to communicate with your current contacts using your primary address. Adding these contacts to your whitelist means that these are trusted contacts and there will be allowed thru if they have been caught by the filter. HOW TO ADD TO ALLOW LIST Why add to the Allow List? Sometimes but rare someone may send you an message but it has been stopped by the spam filter. It may be because the sender was put on blacklist or the message has a known malware attached. But if you know the message is legitimate and not infected you may want to add allow the send to you allow list to allow future message form that sender. Adding address or domain is simple. Add the address you wish to allow or the domain if you wish to allow from all senders from that domain. e.g Jdoe@abccompany.com for a single address or abccompany.com for the entire domain PLEASE NOTE: You do NOT want to exempt domains such as AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, Comcast, Verizon, etc You only want to exempt the sender! Legitimate senders will not be block and message from these sender will be delivered to you inbox. Page 3 of 8

4 BLACKLISTING (Block List) Blacklist allows you to blocks communication with your contacts using your primary address. Adding these contacts to your block list means that these are non-trusted contacts and there will NOT be allowed thru if they have been caught by the filter. HOW TO ADD TO ALLOW LIST Why add to the Block List? Often someone may send you an message but you do not want to receive messages from the sender and it may have not been blocked by the filter. For Example: It may be because the sender is a legitimate sender they you had subscribed to receive s from their web site and there unsubscribe program is not working and you no longer want to receive there s. Adding address or domain is simple and the same ad adding to the Allow List. Add the address you wish to block or the domain if you wish to allow from all senders from that domain. e.g Jdoe@abccompany.com for a single address or abccompany.com for the entire domain PLEASE NOTE: You do NOT want to block domains such as AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, Comcast, Verizon, etc You only want to exempt the sender! 5 PROTECTIVE ADDRESSES Protective Addresses are based on the principal that two addresses are better than one; three are better than two, etc. This option allows our service to create your unique addresses for your new contacts, or you can use an alias for outbound communications for all new contacts. ADDRESS ON THE FLY Address on the Fly feature allows you to create an address without having to enter it into the system. When giving out your address to someone one the phone or online, you can customize your address with no interaction with the product. The format is: What should ConnectWise Total Control do with the messages Flag the Subject line and deliver to the inbox: This option allows for mail determined to be spam to be delivered to your inbox with the subject line modified with a **Reflected**. Flag the subject line and deliver to this inbox: This option is created for an administrator to review the messages deemed as spam with a **Reflected** in the subject. The administrator can then release the message to the user s inbox if they believe it is legitimate. Send a change-of-address request to the sender: This option does not allow the message into your inbox, and sends a message to the sender with the correct address for that sender to use. Quarantine and send a challenge/response: This option is the same as above, allowing the sender an opportunity to have their message delivered, as well as a copy of the message does go into the quarantine folder. Quarantine only This option places the message into the quarantine folder. Ignore, no quarantine and no notice Does just what it says, it deletes the messages that were sent to your primary address and were not on your Whitelist. The only way to see these messages is if you have options checked below to keep copies of blocked messages you can find your messages that were blocked in your Quarantine Folder. Page 5 of 8

6 QUARANTINE FOLDER To see any messages that have been blocked, log into the link provided by your administrator. At the top of the page, you will see a menu bar. One option is Quarantine, click on that, and it will bring you to a page that looks similar this: There are two ways to view the message: 1. Click on the subject line and the will open up in that window. From that page you can release the into your inbox, whitelist the sender & release the message, or delete one or all. 2. Check the box under select, and either release the messages to your inbox, whitelist & release the message to your inbox, or delete selected items. Please note that if there is an attachment, you need to release the to view attachment. Page 6 of 8

7 MANAGE USER PROPERTIES Sometimes it is necessary to modify the overall settings of just one account, you can access these properties from USER OPTIONS, then select USER PROPERTIES. The first section you will see is SECURITY SETTINGS. Here you can adjust the overall filtering level provided. The lower the number, the more restrictive the heuristic scanning of will be (0-100, where 0 will block ALL, and 100 will block NONE). Spoofing Prevention is designed to block sent FROM: your domain TO: the same domain; a common tactic for spammers. The next field, ADDRESS SETTINGS will allow you to create unique addresses every time you send to a new recipient. This feature allows you to track who is spamming or selling your address, as the inbound will reflect this unique address in the spam service. There is a unique feature of this product to help you give out addresses safely. It is called Address on the Fly. For example, if you want to buy something on E-Bay, and it requires an address for you, you can submit: user.ebay@domain.com, which will always get through unless you block it. You can also do this when you are on the phone with someone such as a friend: user.friend@domain.com. This is a very unique feature that is also very useful. If unwanted s result from disclosing that address, you can stop the original sender from sharing it as well as block the entire address completely. With ConnectWise Total Control, you will gain control of your corporate to ensure ALL your gets through, without ANY unwanted s in the mix. MESSAGE FORMAT OPTIONS will let the user control having a Control Panel added to each inbound . Page 7 of 8

8 Last, QUARANTINE SETTINGS covers how often the user would like to get a notification reminder of caught by the spam service. Set the BLATANT SPAM THRESHOLD to 100 to always get notified no matter how obvious the spam is. There is a feature of this product that will send a Quarantine Summary notification to you with a status of the most recent messages blocked and Quarantined by the spam filter. Your administrator has taken the time to set up your account threshold options of when to send the notification to you. The Below Screen is an example of the threshold that may have been set by you administrator. If you need assistance with changing these setting contact your administrator. With ConnectWise Total Control Quarantine Summary notification you will gain simple control to quickly review quarantines message, access the control panel or simply release the message to your inbox or release the message and add to the whitelist add so you can receive the message from the sender in the future right from the .
