1 Corning Community College ACE Continuing Education Grant Continuing Education Grants will be an integral part of the ACE Program s staff development efforts. All of the ACE districts and Corning Community College are committed to this as an ongoing process. The purpose of Continuing Education Grants is to provide ACE teachers with funds to participate in a valuable educational experience including, but not limited to, courses, travel, and conferences and therefore to improve ACE instruction and student learning. They can also be used to provide ACE instructor applicants funds to take courses required to become an approved ACE instructor. All Requests Based on competitive Continuing Education Grant applications, the Staff Development Fund of the ACE Program will make Continuing Education Grant awards in an amount not to exceed $1,000 per academic year (September 1 August 31). Grant requests for educational experiences costing $1,000 or less may be 100% funded. More costly educational experiences may be partially funded. A committee consisting of Associate Deans and Administrators will review each application. The committee will approve, reject, or send the application back for additional work. Payment may be provided for tuition, transportation, room and board, textbooks, etc. An application must be completed and approved before funds will be authorized. Award notifications are mailed within a few weeks of submission. Approved grant expenditures will be made directly to the applicant upon presentation of receipts following the successful completion of the educational experience. All receipts and claims for reimbursement must be submitted within 30 days of the conference or 30 days after the end of the course. All receipts must be submitted together. The amount reimbursed cannot exceed the amount originally approved. Those receiving a grant are encouraged to share some important aspect of the learning gained through this Continuing Education Grant either by preparing a formal written or video report that can be disseminated or by offering a workshop to interested teachers who teach the same ACE course as the recipient. Conference Travel Instructors are responsible for making their own travel arrangements and paying all expenses themselves in advance. Reimbursement will be made to the individual faculty member after appropriate receipts are presented, following the dates of the conference. Evidence of having attended the conference (such as a conference program) must be provided. Courses In the case of courses being taken by provisionally approved faculty for full-approval status, the attached supplemental form must be completed and signed by the divisional Associate Dean of Instruction in advance. The provisionally approved ACE instructor is responsible for securing Associate Dean approval to determine acceptability of courses. Applications for reimbursement must be approved in advance of the start of classes. To be eligible for reimbursement, a teacher must present a grade report or transcript showing a passing grade for the approved course, a receipt for tuition clearly identifying the course, and any related receipts for previously approved expenses (such as textbooks) within 30 days of the end of classes. 2 ACE Program Continuing Education Grant APPLICATION ELEMENTS You must submit the narrative plus a copy of any available printed institutional brochure describing the educational experience that you wish to pursue. The following elements must be included in your application. Please try to keep your application focused and to the point. 1. Cover Page - Please use the attached form. 2. Narrative - Each narrative should include: Title of the educational experience Description of the educational experience Statement of Need/Purpose - Why is this experience necessary? Outcome(s) - What will you gain from this experience? What will your ACE students gain from your having had this experience? Total cost of the educational experience*: Tuition, registration or admission fees Room Board Textbook(s) Transportation Describe your anticipated plan for disseminating important aspects of the knowledge you gained to your ACE colleagues. * Please note that grants will not exceed $1,000 total.
