2 CENTRAL LOUISIANA TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE AT&T CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND 2 The goal of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Foundation AT&T Construction Technology Program is to encourage success in the classroom, as well as success in industry. These programs include: compressed schedule programs, Industry Based Certification Programs, and credit based courses as long as they are related to the construction/construction technology field. A total of three (3) scholarships ($1,000 each) will be awarded during the spring 2014 semester to three students. The awards will be as follows: Three, $1,000 Scholarships will awarded to students pursuing a credential (certificate, diploma, degree) or certification in a construction/construction technology related program (e.g., building technology, carpentry/cabinet making, electrician, masonry, heating/air conditioning, plumbing). The scholarship funds will be disbursed for tuition, tools, books, and program specific supplies that can be purchased through the Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) bookstore. Each student will have access to a $1,000 line of credit at Central Louisiana Technical Community College. The Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Foundation, a 501(c) (3) organization, administers the scholarship fund for distribution by Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC). STUDENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS 1. Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time (12 credit hours or more) student in a construction/construction technology related program (e.g., building technology, carpentry/cabinet making, electrician, masonry, heating/air conditioning, plumbing). 2. Applicants must possess a grade point average of 3.0 or higher (based on a four-point system). The applicant must also submit an Instructor Recommendation Form (attached) and a letter of recommendation from a current or previous instructor or advisor in their program of study. The instructor/advisor should be familiar with the applicant s academic achievement and work ethics. The form along with the letter of recommendation MUST be submitted in a sealed envelope along with the student s application form. 3. Applicants must provide a copy of their Banner Web (LOLA) Transcript (or official transcript from the CLTCC Registrar s Office) and grade report from the most current quarter/semester. 4. Applicants must submit a typed, double-spaced, word essay on why they chose to study technical education, how their achievements and/or leadership roles have helped them grow individually and their future goals within the technical field. 5. Applicants must provide a list of clubs, activities, accomplishments, leadership roles held and years involved, including those relating to their field of study. 6. Applicants must indicate and/or display a financial need. 7. Students should be
3 Enrolled in compressed schedule programs, or, Seeking an Industry Based Certification, or Enrolled in courses (credit or non-credit) related to the construction/construction technology field Students must be willing to: Sign student releases allowing the college to track and report their progress. The LCTCS Foundation needs to be able to report back to AT&T where the student is (i.e. still in school, employer name) and their salary information after they have completed the program. Sign student releases allowing the college to promote their image in relations to any CLTCC marketing campaigns including those related to the AT&T scholarship. AMOUNT AND DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS 1. The amount of each scholarship awarded shall be a one-time $1,000 per academic year for three students. 2. The scholarship is for tuition, tools, books, and program specific supplies that can be purchased at the CLTCC bookstore. 3. The scholarship will be rescinded in the following cases: A. Student s GPA falls below 3.0 Student will receive a one-time probationary semester if his/her GPA drops below 3.0. The scholarship will not be renewed if the student s GPA drops for a second time. A. Student s course load falls below 12 hours for the semester To qualify for the scholarship, a student must be registered for a minimum of 12-credit hours (full-time study). The student must maintain a full-time course of study during the awarding period. A student may enroll in an elective course if a required course is not available to ensure full-time study status is maintained. B. Student withdraws from Central Louisiana Technical Community College A student may reapply for scholarship consideration in the next funding cycle if his/her scholarship is rescinded for any of the reasons listed above. Alternate scholarship recipients will also be chosen to receive an award if a scholarship is rescinded due to ineligibility or graduation of the scholarship recipients. The alternate recipients will receive notification of their status as alternates and be contacted if monies become available. 4. Scholarships are not transferable between divisions; if a student changes his/her major from one division to another, the student forfeits his/her scholarship.
4 APPLICATION PROCESS 4 The availability of scholarship funding will be advertised during the Spring Semester and the award will be announced during the Summer Semester. 1. Students and Faculty will be informed via the CLTCC Group, CLTCC Scholarship Website, announcements in classes, and e-newsletters. 2. Completed applications MUST be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid by 4 PM CST on May 8, Incomplete application packets will not be eligible for consideration. All applicants will be contacted and informed of the status of their application via letter. Additionally, the staff of the Financial Aid Department will contact, via telephone, eligible students chosen for further consideration.
5 CENTRAL LOUISIANA TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE AT&T CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS 5 THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN IN A CONSTRUCTION/CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY RELATED PROGRAM (E.G., BUILDING TECHNOLOGY, CARPENTRY/CABINET-MAKING, ELECTRICIAN, MASONRY, HEATING/AIR CONDITIONING, PLUMBING). Please obtain a copy of the application through the college s website: or from the Financial Aid Office for specifics. Completed application packets must be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid for consideration by 4:00 p.m. CST on Thursday, May 8, Programs Include: in a construction/construction technology related program (e.g., building technology, carpentry/cabinet making, electrician, masonry, heating/air conditioning, plumbing) Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) and must have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Incomplete application packets WILL NOT be eligible for consideration. Applicants will be contacted and informed of the status of their application via letter from the Financial Aid Office within one week after receipt.
