This effort increased the awareness of diabetes and programs offered by ADA resulting in a 30% increase in individual giving (i.e. memorials and special gifts) Conceptualizing and implementing special events and educational outreach programs that are of interest to the 90,000 people in the Central Texas area directly affected by diabetes and their families Recruiting and forming a working council to augment staff in fund-raising and outreach efforts Working with individuals and foundations to implement and fund programs for children with type 1 diabetes (i.e. grants, special gifts and corporate sponsorships) Identifying and cultivating elected and appointed officials to assist ADA in serving its constituency and publicizing its mission KLRU-TV, PBS Affiliate, Austin, TX Special Events Director, June 1996 December 1998 Overseeing a $500,000 fundraising budget Conceptualizing and implementing events which act as fundraising and positioning tools for KLRU.
