3 College-in-the- High School Page 19 & 59 in the Program of Studies These courses are College-in-the-High School courses with Harrisburg Area Community College- Lancaster (HACC), and it is possible for students to earn college credit in high school upon successful completion of the course. Octorara Career & Technology Education Programs (OCTP) These FREE college credits are earned while attending Octorara Career & Technical Programs for students in grades 10, 11, & 12 by completing the SOAR Program of Study requirements. They are called articulated credits and these FREE articulated credits can save you time and money. A high school graduate who enrolls at HACC in the same technical program can start with between 3 to 12 credits already earned. SOAR credits are accepted at colleges all over Pennsylvania. That means there will be classes you don t have to take. You can finish college quicker by taking fewer classes and you can save money on the total tuition bill! Many colleges accept 9 credits or more. Specific HS Courses Honors Financial Accounting, Academic Gov t & Politics AP US Gov t & Politics Cooperative Education (Co-op) Business Marketing

4 Did You Know About THESE? Dual Enrollment - Offered to OJSHS students in grades 11, & 12 This articulated program permits students to earn college credit and attend high school at the same time. Dual enrollment is a locally administered program that permits a secondary student to concurrently enroll in postsecondary courses and to receive both secondary and postsecondary credit for the coursework. Local programs are run through partnerships between school entities and eligible postsecondary institutions. Page 19 in the Program of Studies VA Career Experience Offered to OJSHS students in grades 10, 11, & 12 in conjunction with the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Coatesville, PA. Students will have the opportunity to participate in one rotation each marking period. Rotations may include the areas of patient admissions, nutrition and food service, extended care, laboratory medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, pharmacy, recreation therapy, outpatient clinics, research, social work, information technology, administrative, retail sales, facilities engineering, and others. Page 58 in the Program of Studies Cooperative Education (Co-op) - Offered to OJSHS students in grade 12. Cooperative education is a method of instruction that enables students to combine academic classroom instruction (school-based learning component) with occupational instruction through learning on the job (work-based learning component) in a career area of choice. Emphasis is placed on the students education and employability skills. Page 58 in the Program of Studies Internship - Provides students with on the job work experience outside of school hours to gain valuable employment skills and give them the opportunity to learn about their chosen Career Pathway.
