The Smart PAL Card (Powered Access Licence)
The problem Who is using your equipment? Are they trained? Can I borrow that scissor lift? (ie: is there a control system?) Who broke it? Why is the battery flat?
IPAF s Smart PAL Card Operational Control User Safety Log Book Pre Use Checks Theft Protection Data Recording Remote Access Fleet Management
Ignition Control Ignition control linked to the PAL Card: Three options to suit your customers needs OPTION A: Only trained operators can start the platform (ie they must have a valid PAL Card). OPTION B: Only authorised and trained staff can start the platform (ie they have a valid PAL Card and/or are on your approved list). OPTION C: Normal operation of the platform via a normal ignition key (ie disable the system when requested by customer)
The Smart PAL Card Operator must have the correct IPAF machine Categories Operator must have a valid PAL Card (expires after 5 years) Rental data (Start date, End date, working times) can be captured Data can be transferred to machine. Correct person, Contract identity Damages: If so who is responsible
Electronic Log Book
Other Benefits Protection against theft and unauthorized use Position determination at any time, of any place Capture of machine operating times User control via IPAF s PAL Card Display and evaluation of data on the Internet Reduction of insurance premiums Reduction of machine damage with access control Remote access of the machine Pre use inspection can be monitored
Collection of data Optimal collection of data, because machine times are recorded day-to-day. An exact daily accounting will be possible. data is available at any time all data can be used and linked for different analysis. recorded data can be transferable to your management and accounting software. Platforms can be remotely disabled.
Telediagnostics Telediagnostics an essential competitive advantage. Telediagnostics facilitates to identify possible errors e.g. on a faulty aerial platform without having to leave the workshop. that the service personnel can solve most problems via telephone or arrives at the place of action with the right equipments and tools. to retrieve and evaluate from distance all operating states as well as error states from the controller.
IPAF s Smart PAL Card Prevent unauthorised use of equipment Limit use of equipment to trained personnel Electronic operator log book

elearning
elearning Equivalent to Instructor-led Consistent Engaging
elearning Design Expert as Narrator Flexible Avenues to answer learner questions
Implementing elearning (Sue)
Feedback I loved the elearning format - and the content is very thorough and well thought out!!!! Great course, everyone who is around equipment should take this class. I felt the elearning program was very informational. This brings awareness to just how dangerous equipment can be if used incorrectly. I feel that this program has increased my knowledge of the use of AWPs and that I learned about the importance of applying safety skills when operating this machinery.
