Understanding Degree Audit Student User Documentation Current students, both undergraduate and graduate, are now able to evaluate progress in their program(s), i.e. major, minor, certificate, and/or specializations, using Degree Audit in WebAdvisor. Below are samples of undergraduate degree audits. These programs are more complex in their structure but the concepts and instructions for reading a degree audit are universal across all academic levels. *** Although some earlier programs may be reflected in Degree Audit, *** only catalog years 2009 forward are fully supported. 1) Log in to WebAdvisor. 2) Click on "Current Student". The student menu should display "Degree Audit" under the Academic Profile menu.
3) When a student accesses Degree Audit, the following screen is displayed. Please select the active program you want to review. Please select only one program at a time. If the program of study listed below is not accurate, please contact your advisor to make a curriculum change. A curriculum change form must be completed to make any changes to a student s program of study. The Registrar s Office has completed audits for catalog years 2009 to present. While older catalog year audits exist from 2005 to 2008, we have not verified their thoroughness or accuracy. No audits are available for Visiting Student programs. Note: It may take a while to generate a program evaluation. Click on an Active Program to monitor your progress. Students pursuing a dual major or a major and certificate will need to evaluate each program separately. After selecting a program, click Submit to see the degree audit. 4) Sample of Undergraduate Degree Audit: Anticipated completion date is an estimate only based on full-time enrollment and no transfer credit. Disclaimers and Important Notices are located at the very beginning and vary by program and school/division. Please be sure to review this information! Program Summary will show (In Progress) until ALL program credits, requirements and courses have been completed and the GPA has been met.
The Program Summary lists overall program credits (unless a difference is noted in a disclaimer) and institutional credits, which are the minimum credits required to be completed at SU. The Required column indicates SU s requirements for completion of credits and GPA. Degree Audit tracks current earned credits and current remaining credits. Anticipated Additional credits reflect courses either In Progress (*IP) or Preregistered (*PR). Anticipated Remaining reflects remaining credits needed for completion assuming the in progress or preregistered courses are successfully completed. Section Status Codes in Degree Audit: (Not Started) (In Progress) (Pending Completion of Unfinished Activity) (Complete) 5) General Education requirements will be listed next in most undergraduate programs. Text indicates how to successfully complete each requirement. *TE Transfer Equivalency Refer to Notes at end of Degree Audit for details of codes. Focus on Needed to help with course planning. The Needed column indicates what still remains to be completed.
Example of Additional Gen Ed Requirements in progress. All completion options are displayed until this requirement has been fulfilled. Example of Additional Gen Ed requirement when completed. As you can see, the remaining options no longer appear.
Sample of Degree Core Requirements Some programs have minimum grade requirements for successful course completion. *PR Preregistered Credits appear under Anticipated Additional in Program Summary block above. Course still showing as needed when minimum grade requirements are not met. Attempt is shown with grade notation *G *GPA Course failed minimum grade requirement.
Requirements vary by school/division. The Conservatory requires 30 upper division credits. The College of Arts & Sciences requires 36 upper division credits. The Other Courses section reflects: 1) elective courses not specifically required by a program while still accumulating credit toward degree; 2) corequisite labs earning no credit (grade NC); 3) courses from which a student withdrew (grade W); and 4) courses not meeting the minimum grade requirement.
Common Degree Audit Codes and Their Meaning The following list provides common code notations and their meaning that may be found on a student s Degree Audit. These definitions also appear at the end of the degree audit in the Notes summary box. This list is not all inclusive. *IP - In Progress *PR - Pre-registered *TE - Transfer Equivalency Credits *NE - Non-course Equivalency Credits (AP, CLEP, IB, Cambridge, etc.) *RE - Repeat *RP - Replacement Pending course is being repeated *RA - Replacement Attempt this course is a repeat attempt *G - Grade course failed minimum grade requirement *E - Extra either this course is not needed to complete this requirement, or else applying it would not have contributed anything toward the requirement s completion (credits apply toward overall and institutional credits only) *F Forced course was manually applied (override) *S - Status items with this status may not be applied to the program (this typically appears by courses from which a student has withdrawn and received a grade of W *U - Used course has already been applied elsewhere and cannot be used to fulfill another requirement Sample of Arts & Sciences program Degree Audit and School-specific Requirements Disclaimers will vary depending on School/Division and Program. Please be sure to read for specific details concerning requirements.
A&S requires a Second Language Competency A&S Residency Rule requires students to take at least 12 credit hours of major course requirements at the level while in residence at SU. Tracking of any indicated Minors is also included in the Degree Audit.
A&S 36 credit Upper Division Requirement. Degree Audit will track what has been completed and how many credits are still needed for completion. Maximum Credits for Activity Courses is tracked and provided for informational purposes. DISCLAIMER: Should you find any errors in your Degree Audit, or suspect the program has been evaluated incorrectly, consult with your Advisor who will take further action to resolve any issues. Please remember that Degree Audit is fully supported for catalog years 2009 forward, and that Degree Audits for prior catalog years may not be accurate.
