RPO programs aim to improve efficiency and quality whilst reducing costs and process gaps. An RPO program is typically initiated when there is a largescale staffing requirement with a pre-determined deadline. It is driven by agreed deliverables and service level agreements, to ensure the program is completed to schedule. Case Study - Heavy Equipment Supplier A multinational supplier of excavators and trucks for the coal mining industry, servicing the East Coast of Australia, required an international recruitment partner to urgently source 40+ mechanical and electrical fitters for their growing operations. In early 2011 Globe s Perth-based team worked with Globe s London office to execute a large scale sourcing program throughout Ireland, Scotland, the United Kingdom and New Zealand resulting in 650+ applicants screened and preferred candidates interviewed. After an exhaustive ten week program, the placement quota was achieved and visa processing commenced. At the six month review, there was 100% staff retention. 4 Case Study - AML, Sierra Leone African Minerals Limited, an iron ore company headquartered in London, required a master vendor to manage expatriate recruitment for its multi-billion development of a deposit in Sierra Leone and related rail and port infrastructure. $3Bn - $4Bn brownfields (mine) and greenfields (port & rail) project 200 km rail and port infrastructure in central Sierra Leone 120+ expatriate staff required within 6 months for first shipment to China Globe coordinated a team from its African, Australian and UK offices. A dedicated Recruitment Manager was seated in-country in Sierra Leone and liaised between AML and Globe s external recruitment team. 172 roles were filled within twelve months. Successfully placed candidates originated from Australia, South Africa, the UK, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, China, Lebanon, Mozambique, Kenya and Zambia. I had the good fortune of working with the team on sourcing the right people for the Port and Rail Operations in Sierra Leone. They were able to bring a high level of recruitment assets and skills whilst we developed a HR function and team from the ground up. It was great to allow the local Pepel recruitment team to recruit locally and for the team to compete in the global labour market which they do so well. Equally important was the ability of the team to transfer skills, knowledge, and the professional edge to the Pepel recruiters on processes and structures. The crowning moment was seeing the team conducting joint interviews with the local recruitment team as one function - brilliant and what it is all about when building capability in African operations. Candidates they shortlisted were discussed with me in detail prior to interview to ensure they met our requirements and before any interviews took place they clarified any questions I had about the candidates and had everything in place, notified the applicant about the process prior to our interview and there where never any issues with applicants missing their telephonic interviews.
