2 S C H O L A R S H I P R U L E S Who Is Eligible? All members of Castparts Credit Union are eligible to apply. A scholarship or scholarships not to exceed the total allotted dollar amount of $1,000 will be awarded for a member(s) who has finished at least one year of college/trade school studies. Scholarship funds can be used for college credits, trade/technical school classes, professional credentials or other professional training programs. Dependents of Castparts Credit Union employees and elected or appointed officials are not eligible. Requirements: 1. Applicants must be a member of Castparts Credit Union and in good standing. 2. Enrollment in college courses, trade school or professional training program at the time of application. 3. A letter of endorsement from your supervisor. 4. Eligibility is not affected by other grants or financial assistance received. 5. Your application must be typed and returned to Castparts Credit Union no later than June 3 rd, Factors: Financial Need Recent faculty or professional letters of recommendation Essay response Employment history Community involvement Qualities of character and leadership Extracurricular activities Amount And Terms Of Award: Scholarship awarded one time only. All disbursements will be made payable to the student and college/school and will be disbursed to the student by corporate check prior to the academic year. 2

3 Application: The application must be completed by you and submitted with a letter of endorsement by your supervisor from work. In addition, it is your responsibility to get letters of recommendation from the appropriate people and to arrange to have them submitted by the deadline. Letters of recommendation need to be completed by school faculty, professionals, employers, business associates, etc. Deadline: All applications and related documents must be received at one of our branch locations by June 3, Applications received after this date will not be accepted. Basis Of Selection: Finalists applications will be verified for accuracy. Factors will be judged as a whole, leading to the well-rounded scholarship recipient. No applicant will be discriminated against on the basis of sex, marital status, race, color, religion, national origin or age. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to interview in person or by telephone. Scholarship recipients will be notified no later than July 1, All remaining applicants will then be notified that the judges have made their selection. Required Essay: You are required to submit a typewritten short essay answering the following questions. Handwritten essays will not be accepted. 1) What does the credit union motto of people-helping-people signify to you? 2) Please share a personal experience in which your actions, based on what you initiated or a group of people agreed to pursue, exemplified this philosophy. 3) Discuss the process and the outcome of the situation. 4) How did the experience affect you and those around you? Privacy: Applications are destroyed once the Scholarship Committee has reviewed them and distributed the scholarship award. Miscellaneous: Scholarship winners agree to have their name and picture featured in the Credit Union s newsletter and website, as well as any press releases to the media. 3
