1 APPLICATION PROCEDURES Please complete the attached application for the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Foundation (the DAYL Foundation ) Scholarship. One $2, scholarship will be awarded to a UNT Dallas College of Law ( UNT Dallas College of Law ) class of 2016, 2017 or 2018 student (rising 2L, 3L or 4L) who has completed at least 20 hours of UNT Dallas College of Law s required community engagement service hours, and who has displayed an appreciation of and commitment to the importance of giving back to the community and improving access to legal justice. In addition to verifying an applicant s service in the community engagement program, the selection committee panel will consider an applicant s competency, character, law school and community involvement, leadership, and general performance in law school. Those submitting applications are required to submit (i) this application, (ii) a one-page résumé, (iii) two (2) references, (iv) certification of community engagement service hours from the UNT Dallas College of Law s Director of Experiential Education, and (v) a current transcript. The recipient of the DAYL Foundation Scholarship will be notified in early December and recognized at the DAYL Foundation Award of Excellence Luncheon which is typically held in early December. The Luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Belo Mansion, 2101 Ross Avenue, Dallas, Texas The scholarship recipient will be notified of the date of the Luncheon as soon as it is available and must attend the Luncheon unless otherwise excused by the DAYL and UNT Dallas College of Law s Assistant Dean and Director of Admissions and Scholarships. The scholarship shall be given directly to UNT Dallas College of Law by the end of the year and shall be applied to the scholarship recipient s Spring 2016 tuition and fees.
