A private motorcoach will take you from Grand Rapids to Detroit s Metropolitan Airport, where you ll check in for your overnight flight to Europe. Shortly after takeoff, dinner will be served. (D) walls and/or take a stroll along the pedestrian only STRADUN. At 4:30 p.m. transfer by bus to Dubrovnik s Gruz Harbor for embarkation. Your luggage has already been placed in the cabins. A welcome reception with a cocktail and music is followed by dinner. (B, D) 5 23, Fri Dubrovnik Connecting in Germany, you will have some free time to stretch your legs before continuing to Dubrovnik, Croatia. After passport control and customs, you ll meet your driver and tour manager and board the bus. You are then off to check into the hotel. Relax and unwind from the journey at your beautiful beachfront hotel, before having your evening dinner. After an 8:45 a.m. checkout, you ll transfer to the Old Town for a guided walking tour. The more than one-thousand-year-old history of Dubrovnik is seen in every part of this magical town. Highlights include a visit to the FRANCISCAN MONASTERY and the CABLE CAR FROM THE OLD TOWN TO SRĐ MOUNTAIN to enjoy scenic views of the city, its walls and the nearby Elaphiti Islands. The afternoon is at leisure and you may want to take a walk on top of the famous 1,940-meters-long 25, Sun Dubrovnik/Mljet After breakfast, cruise to the island of Mljet. Most of the island is covered with the dense forest that once typified the Mediterranean coast; admire this lovely scenery while enjoying lunch on board. Early this afternoon the yacht arrives at the northern end of the island, where Mljet National Park is located. Spend the afternoon ashore with a local guide walking around the two saltwater lakes. In the middle of the large lake you can visit the Franciscan monastery and church. You ll have the opportunity to rent a bicycle, moped or cabrio to see more of the island or you could hire a boat and explore the caves and rock formations that surround the shores of the lakes. There are lots of nice small restaurants in close proximity to the ship. We suggest you choose a quaint seafront restaurant with open fires grilling freshly caught fish! (B, L) 26, Mon Korčula/Hvar Enjoy breakfast while cruising toward for the island of Korčula, reputed to be the birthplace of Marco Polo, the famous adventurer. Korčula s Old Town is very well preserved with its layout and structures dating back to 13th century. After sightseeing and a late onboard lunch, continue to Hvar. Step ashore in the main town, also called Hvar, one of Croatia s most fashionable resorts the jet-set island. A local guide will introduce us to the key sights of Hvar. See the Renaissance cathedral with its original tower as well as the oldest community theatre in Europe, dating back to Hvar is the longest Island in the Adriatic and one of the sunniest; known for lavish lavender fields and breathtaking beauty. If you are up to it, consider a hike up to the town fort overlooking the harbor, our yacht and the Pakleni islands. This evening s dinner is onboard. In the evening Hvar offers an abundance of entertainment: many restaurants, bars and cafes are open late into the night. (B, L, D) 27, Tue Bol/Split Leaving Hvar, the cruise continues towards the town of Bol on the island of Brač. Bol is known for its famous Zlatni Rat Beach, where the landscape changes depending on the wind and waves. 5 30, Fri Zlarin/Zadar Spend your last day cruising enroute to Zadar. Following the onboard lunch, a walking tour will acquaint you with Zadar s historical heritage. For centuries, Zadar has been a city rich in monumental heritage. See the Roman forum dated from the 1st century AD; the church of St. Donatus dated to the 9th century AD; the mighty city walls; and numerous palaces, villas, and other monuments. Of special interest is the famous Zadar Sea Organ and The Greeting to the Sun light installation. This evening enjoy the Captain s farewell dinner with entertainment. (B, L, D) 7 the village, get ready to cruise to Split, Croatia s second largest city. Lunch is served onboard. In Split, enjoy a guided tour of the city showcasing highlights including the Palace of Diocletian. Some time for shopping will also be available. Late afternoon, you ll head south by van to a remote village. Here enjoy spectacular views and taste some of the local specialties in a special heritage dinner. Everything about this visit will be unique, something to write home about. (B, L, D) 28, Wed Trogir/ Šibenik This morning we continue to Trogir. Here you have time for independent sightseeing and shopping. Next it is on to Šibenik, another historical town where the ship will tie up for the night. Lunch is onboard and dinner is independent. The historic town of Šibenik is rich in cultural and historical monuments. The most representative among them is the famous Cathedral of Šibenik, one of the most original architectural projects of the late Middle Ages. (B, L) 29, Thu Krka Waterfalls/ Zlarin Today cruise north toward and along the Krka River Canyon to the Krka Waterfalls. Entrance to Krka National Park is included and your local guide will ensure you see all its highlights. The area is home to more than 800 species of plant life as well as more than 200 species of birds, amphibians, reptiles and a wide variety of fish. Afterward continue by coach to the prestigious Bibich Winery for a gourmet experience that is more than a simple wine tasting. The winery, which burnt to the ground during the 90 s war, has been rebuilt and continues to produce wines of distinction. Here taste the Dalmatian Debit white wine and Cuvee of Shiraz & Merlot, accompanied with a delicious tapas Croatian-style lunch. Transfer back to the ship and cruise to Zlarin an island of pine trees, beaches and tranquil coves. Dinner is onboard. (B, L, D) October, , Sat Zadar/Plitvice Lakes/ Zagreb Say farewell to the crew and hello to the driver, who will take us to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. Enroute you ll visit Plitvice Lakes, the most beautiful and oldest national park in Croatia. The 16 lakes in this park are connected by waterfalls. Our exploration is mostly on foot, so bring your walking shoes. However, you will experience a boat ride across the Emerald Green Lake Kozjak and a train ride back to the entrance. Next it is on to Zagreb. Before hotel check-in, enjoy A PANORAMIC CITY TOUR. Some of the sites seen are St. Mark s Church, the Cathedral, the Government Palace and the Lotršêak tower. 6 Upon embarkation passports are required for registration. All passengers are to give their passport to the Captain or his staff; they will be returned on September 30. In case of bad weather conditions, the Captain reserves the right to change the route. During rough weather, passengers are requested to limit outside movement as much as possible. Keep in mind that floors can be wet and slippery. Jumping or diving from the yacht during navigation is strictly prohibited; climbing up the mast is also forbidden. If docked next to another vessel, passengers must take extra care when crossing between yachts to get to shore. Do not hesitate to ask crew members for assistance. Keep in mind that movement between ships is your own responsibility. Safety vests are found under seats in the dining area and below the beds in the cabins. SHIP RULES AND SPECIAL NOTES: Please respect your neighbors and refrain from making too much noise. After 11:00 p.m. it is expected that all conversation and other noisy activities cease. In some National Parks, even earlier night peace is required. If this is the case, passengers will be notified. Smoking in cabins and in the restaurant is not allowed. Smoking is permitted on the top deck; be sure to stand downwind and do not throw cigarette butts in the sea. Bed linens are not to be taken out of the cabin. Toilets Do not throw anything, with the exception of toilet paper, into the toilet. Passengers are not allowed to bring food and drinks (both alcoholic and nonalcoholic) onboard. The only exceptions are food products for special diets. Should this be the case, check with the captain or purser. Typical regional products purchased on shore can be stored on board and will be returned to the passengers at the end of the cruise. Guests are obliged to respect meal times and departure times. This information will be announced and will also be posted on the salon information board. Trash It is strictly forbidden to throw trash into the sea. Keep portholes and windows closed during navigation. Water is a problem on every boat. Therefore, be rational with the use of water. As an example, when showering we suggest you first run the shower only a minute or two; next soap your body and shampoo your hair; and then turn on the shower for a short rinse. Also watch your use of electricity, since it all comes from one central generator. EASY TOUR PACE The Katarina Line, the captain and crew of the yacht will not be held responsible for any accidents that may occur during the duration of the cruise. Therefore, make sure you take out travel insurance. Any damage done by passengers must be compensated to the captain. Lost cabin keys will be replaced against a charge of 150 kuna per key. Photos: 1. 7 The cost of your tour includes: Airport transfers round trip from Grand Rapids to Detroit will be provided by motorcoach. Air transportation from Detroit to Dubrovnik, returning from Zagreb to Detroit with any regularly scheduled air carrier, based on a nonrefundable/ nonchangeable fare, which requires a minimum of 10 passengers traveling round trip together. Tickets are issued 45 days prior to departure. Passengers who cancel after tickets are issued will forfeit the total airfare in addition to the penalties noted under Cancellation and Refunds. If cancellation results from the documented hospitalization or death of the passenger, part of the airfare penalty may be waived. All current airlines taxes, security fees and fuel surcharges are included. Note that these items cannot be guaranteed until tickets are issued. Secure flight information. The requirement to collect date of birth, gender, and full name are federally mandated by the Transportation Security Administration s (TSA) Secure Flight Program. Frequent flyer points are not guaranteed in connection with group airfares. Some airlines may limit group airfare credits from 25% to 50% of the frequent flyer points that apply to individuals while others do not offer any credits for group airfares. Hazardous Materials. Federal law forbids the carriage of hazardous materials aboard aircraft in your luggage or on your person. A violation can result in five years imprisonment and penalties of $250,000 or more (49 U.S.C. 5124). Hazardous materials include explosives, compressed gases, flammable liquids and solids, oxidizers, poisons, corrosives and radioactive materials. Accommodations in Dubrovnik and Zagreb in a 5-star hotel based on two persons sharing a room with private facilities. On board the deluxe yacht, accommodations are based on two persons sharing. Each stateroom is equipped with two twin beds, private bathroom with shower. Supplement for single occupancy is $2,300. If you register alone but want a roommate, we will do our best to assign one. If a single room must be assigned to any group member, even at the last minute or while on tour, we will need to charge the single supplement. Rooming changes requested by the participant 45 or fewer days prior to departure may result in additional charges. Meals as indicated in the itinerary. Lunches and dinners arranged by Witte do include two beverages (wine, beer, bottle water, etc.). Tour personnel. Henk and Thressa Witte are your hosts. Katarina Line representatives will assist at key points with transfers, sightseeing, and baggage handling. An English speaking Croatian tour manager will accompany the group. Local guides may assist as needed. Sightseeing and admission fees in accordance with the itinerary. Luggage allowance. Porterage of one suitcase with a maximum size of 62 (height plus width plus depth) and weight of 50 pounds per person is provided at hotels and on and off the vessel. You may also carry a purse, a camera, and one small piece of hand luggage weighing no more than 15 pounds and measuring 45 (height plus width plus depth). Soft-sided hand luggage is recommended, but wheeled carry-ons are acceptable. Note that hand luggage does not fit in the overhead bins on the motorcoach. There may be room for hand luggage in the storage compartments under the motorcoach or by an empty seat inside the motorcoach. If not, it will need to be placed on the floor in front of your feet. The size and weight restrictions noted for suitcases and hand luggage conform to most airlines requirements. Tipping and taxes are included for all services, including the tip for the ship s crew, the tour manager and motorcoach drivers. The tour cost does not include passports, airline luggage fees if charged, optional travel protection plan including luggage and trip cancellation TERMS AND CONDITIONS coverage, optional excursions, independent meals, and any other items not mentioned as included. Insecticide Disclosure. Some countries require that aircraft be treated with insecticides prior to flight or while occupied. For a list of the countries with insecticide requirements, go to Optional travel protection. Witte recommends that you purchase a travel protection plan. For your convenience, Witte Travel offers a travel protection plan designed by Travelex Insurance Services. This travel protection can be purchased at any time prior to making the final payment for your tour. The pre-existing medical conditions exclusion will be waived if you purchase the protection plan within 14 days of the initial trip deposit, provided you are medically fit to travel at time of purchase. Tours over 30 days are not eligible for coverage. The plan cost for the travel protection plan that applies to your tour will be noted in your brochure and on the registration form. It may be necessary to increase the trip cost insured on the travel protection plan if you purchase additional services and/or upgrade any arrangements. This could increase the plan cost of the travel protection plan. The plan cost for this travel protection plan is non-refundable after a 10 day review period. The travel protection plan does not cover any travel arrangements not made by or purchased from Witte. If your passport is due to expire earlier, you will need to obtain a new one. If you do not have a passport or need a new one, apply as soon as possible. If you plan to visit other countries on your own, contact Witte for any special requirements. All non-u.s. citizens should contact Witte for their special requirements. We will check the requirements for non-u.s. citizens at the time they register and again approximately 45 days prior to departure. 8 Reservations and payments. To make reservations on this tour, complete the Registration Form and return it as indicated. Reservations cannot be accepted over the telephone. Payments are due as follows: Deposit of $500 per person with Registration Form Payment of $1250 per person by January 15 Payment of $1250 per person by April 15 Balance due on receipt of final invoice sent approximately 90 days prior to departure If you are registering for the tour after one of the above payment dates, increase your deposit amount accordingly so your account will be up to date. Please note that checks returned due to insufficient funds are subject to a $30 service fee. Credit card payments. Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express credit cards are accepted for the deposit and scheduled payments. The deposit charge is processed shortly after receipt of your registration form. Subsequent payments are charged per the payment schedule. Cancellations and refunds. Witte must receive notice of cancellation in writing. Penalties are per person and will be based on the date of receipt, as follows: More than 120 days prior to departure - $ 200 Between 120 and 91 days prior to departure - $ or fewer days prior to departure - No Refund The above penalties apply to the cost of the land arrangements and are in addition to the airfare penalty noted under Air Transportation. The service fee noted under Special Flight Arrangements, any nonrefundable portion of special arrangements made on behalf of the canceling participant, and the cost of travel protection, will also be added to the above penalties. Cancellation insurance is available. Allow four to six weeks for processing of refunds. Note that payments made by check are refunded by check to the person or organization that made the payments, and payments charged to a credit card are credited back to the same credit card. Membership. Witte reserves the right to accept or reject any person as a member of the tour and to expel from the tour any participant whose conduct or condition is incompatible with the interest of the group. The Katarina Line reserves the right to expel from the cruise any tour participant who does not follow the rules listed in this brochure and posted in the ship s lounge. No refund will be due for unused cruise/tour arrangements, should the cruise line ask you to leave. Land-only participants. If you wish to make your own flight arrangements, contact Witte for the land-only cost at least 90 days prior to departure. Participants who make their own flight arrangements are strongly encouraged to coordinate their flight schedules with the group s flight schedule and to use the same airports. The group s airport transfers on the arrival and return days will be timed to the group s flight schedule. Land-only participants may need to arrange for their own airport transfers. Contact Witte for information and costs on options for private transfers. Witte cannot be responsible for any inconveniences to land-only participants resulting from changes in the group s flight schedule. Participants who change their status to land-only less than 90 days prior to departure may be subject to penalties imposed by the airlines. Domestic flight connections. Note on your registration form if you would like to fly to and from the international departure city. You will be contacted with schedule options and costs. Witte must receive requests for connecting flights at least 45 days prior to departure. Special flight arrangements. Note on your registration form if you would like to extend your stay and/or depart from and/or return to another city. The number of passengers who can deviate from the group s flight schedule is restricted. You will be contacted to let you know if the arrangements you requested are possible and to advise you of schedule options and costs. Upon confirmation of your special arrangements, a nonrefundable service fee of $75 per person will be added to your account along with any additional air or land costs that may apply. In the event of cancellation, the service fee and any nonrefundable portion of special air or land arrangements made for you will be added to the penalties noted under Cancellations and Refunds. Witte must receive requests for special flight arrangements at least 45 days prior to departure. Special meal requests and food allergies. Note special meal requests and food allergies on your registration form. Witte cannot be responsible if special requests are not met but we will pass them on to the airlines, hotels, ship line and restaurants. If you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, be sure to carry your medications with you at all times. Also, discuss your special needs with your tour personnel and ask the wait staff about the foods you are served. Mobility Concerns. Sightseeing on Witte tours almost always includes walking. Visits to historical places often mean climbing stairs and walking on uneven surfaces or cobblestones. Handicap accessibility is not always available. Witte tour personnel are not able to provide attendant services. Tour participants with special needs are strongly encouraged to travel with someone who can assist them. Consult your physician if you have any concerns about your ability to participate. Time away from the tour. Advise Witte in writing at least 45 days before departure if you plan to spend some time away from the tour. Refunds for unused services will not be possible. Final tour documents including itinerary, hotel list, passenger list, flight schedules with departure instructions, and luggage tags are sent about 10 days prior to departure. Flight tickets are usually made available at the airport at check-in time. Responsibility. The trip outlined herein has been contracted with Katarina Line. Witte Travel & Tours acts only as agent on behalf of each individual participant in making arrangements for this tour with Katarina Line. As the tour operator, Witte Travel & Tours, Katarina Line and/or its various agents will be responsible for supplying the services and accommodations outlined in the brochure as constituting the tour, except to the extent that such services cannot be supplied, wholly or partially, owing to circumstances beyond its control. In such cases, Witte Travel & Tours will use its best efforts to supply alternative services and accommodations, and no refunds will be granted provided that the alternatives are comparable to the original services and accommodations included in the tour cost. Witte Travel & Tours and Katarina Line, along with their agents, sponsors, organizers and employees shall not be responsible for any injury, loss, damage, accident, delay, irregularity or expense arising from strikes, weather, sickness, acts of war or terrorism, governmental restrictions or regulations or from any act or omission on the part of any individual or company furnishing transportation, accommodations or any other services to the tour participants; nor shall Witte Travel & Tours be responsible for any injuries, death, damages, loss or delay in any means of transportation or by reason of any event beyond its actual control. In case of insufficient participation, Witte Travel & Tours may cancel the tour. In the event of cancellation of the tour by Witte Travel & Tours, its liability will be limited to a refund in full of all monies paid by the participants.
