1 1. How does SmartCar Solution work? FAQ s 1. A GPS tracking device that is fitted into your car. This device is designed to operate even when your vehicle is turned off. 2. The GPS tracking device collects your vehicles position details at fixed time intervals. 3. A SIM card in the GPS tracking device that sends this data back to the Tata Docomo server 4. Smart Tracker Application allows the user to apply alerts, check reports & much more from his PC, laptop or mobile phone 2. Do I need any special hardware or software to access the tracking data? No special hardware is needed to access the tracking data. You only need an internet enabled PC, to logon to the SmartCar web-site using your unique username and password. 3. How do the tracking units transmit data? The tracking units transmit data over the GPRS network provided by Tata Docomo Network 4. Can my car be tracked anywhere in India? Yes. SmartCar solution works over the GPRS network, and your car can be tracked all over India using the wide spread GSM/GPRS network coverage of Tata Docomo 5. What happens if my car moves to an area with no GSM/GPRS coverage? The SmartCar intelligent vehicle tracking unit will store data in it's internal memory, and once the vehicle moves to an area with GSM/GPRS coverage, then the stored data will automatically be transmitted to the SmartCar application server Simultaneously it will alert you through an SMS that your vehicle has stopped sending data along with the time 6. Will it notify me, if my car moves back into network coverage area? Yes it will notify through an SMS alert 7. Does GPS work under covered areas (e.g., tunnels, parking garages)? No. GPS utilizes satellites for accurate tracking. If the sky is inaccessible to the mobile unit, tracking cannot take place.

2 8. Will bad weather affect GPS? This is highly unlikely. The sky must be blocked by an object for GPS to be affected. 9. What are various features for SmartCar? With Tata Docomo Smart Tracking, you get more than just live tracking, for your loved one & his/her car 1. Geo-locking the car & getting an instant alert if it moves away 2. Getting alert when the car stops for more than a defined duration 3. Getting alert when the car crosses the defined speed limit 4. Getting alerts when your car enters or moves out of your pre-defined area, it can be your home, office etc 5. Replaying the route on map which you might have taken on a particular day 6. Reports on distance travelled, stoppages, over-speeding, etc 7. Road Support on your mobile by getting location of your nearest Car workshops, Petrol pumps, ATM s, Hospitals, etc 8. Secured Web & Mobile Access 9. Get previous day s Travel report daily through SMS 10. Pull the current car location through SMS 10. What are Geo-Fence alerts? The Smart tracking allows you to mark areas on the website map. If you have set alerts for your marked location, you will get an alert when your vehicle enters or leaves the marked area. 11. What is Geo-Lock? The Smart tracking allows you to lock your car to a particular location during the vehicle being stationary. If you have set alerts for your geo-lock location, you will get an alert when your vehicle moves from the geo-locked area. 12. What is the Route Replay option? It is an option to replay the route which your car has taken on defined date & time on map, along with information on speed & time along the route.

3 13. How do I track my car? How often is the information updated? When you log into the smart tracking portal, you will see the current position of your car marked on a map. The live tracking page auto refreshes with information of the car as it moves along. 14. Can I track my car instantly without logging in into my SmartCar account? You just need to send the following SMS to SMARTCAR<Space> Your Car number without space Ex: smartcar DL5SAC Which browsers are supported by the Web portal? Only following browsers are supported 1. Internet Explorer 7.0 and above 2. Mozilla Firefox 5.0 and above Other browsers like Google Chrome are not supported 16. What reports can I get? You can get the following reports 1. Distance Travelled gives information on total distance covered 2. Stoppage - Get reports on total time when the vehicle stopped 3. Geo-Fence - Get reports on entry/exit from the geo-fenced areas 4. Over-Speed Get report for over speeding instances 5. Route Replay Play routes which your vehicle has travelled in the past 17. What kind of alerts will be provided in this service? 1. Geo-Fence alert 2. Days Distance Travel Summary 3. Over-speed alert 4. Stoppage alert 5. Password Reset Geo-lock Violation Alert

4 18. Will there be a delay in receiving of alerts? Alerts are generated immediately as soon as Car crosses or deviates from the defined parameter, however there will only be a lag depending on telecom network (Tata or others) 19. How many mobile numbers can I configure for alerts? One can configure two mobile numbers for receiving alerts & notifications 20. Can I smart track my car using my mobile phone? Yes, you can access the smart tracking portal by browsing the WAP link sent to your mobile via SMS. Soon you will have option of downloading a mobile phone application from our portal; we will update you on the same 21. What road support will I get on car breakdown? We are providing a free of cost VAS service which will comprise of Point of Interest (POI) location identification, this will enable you to generate & locate your defined POI on map The smart tracking application will have POIs for 1. Car Workshops 2. ATM 3. Hospital 4. Petrol Pumps 5. Police Station 6. Tata Store 7. Food Joint 8. Cinema Theatre 22. Can I access the Smartcar application on my mobile with telecom services other than Tata Docomo? The mobile view can be accessed from Android, Window, Symbian, iphone, Blackberry The mobile should be internet enabled The operator can be any telecom operator

5 23. What login information can I edit? Only password can be changed at any time 24. How can I change my password? To change your password, log in. Click "Change password" under Settings tab, make desired changes and click "submit" You will receive an & SMS alert for the same 25. What characters may I use in my password? You may use alphanumeric characters and the following special characters: - _. /. Remember that passwords are case sensitive (eg. 1qWeR5, not 1qwer5, or 1QWER5) 26. How long should my password be? Your password can be 4 to 17 characters in length. 27. What if I forget my password? If you forget your login ID, check your old s. We sent you an with your user name when you first created your account. If you can t find an with your password, click on the forgot password link on the login page, enter the ID which you have saved in your profile information & submit, we will send you re A/c password to your registered & mobile number 28. What if I forget my user name, password & even the registered ? Contact customer care. 29. I am trying to login and I keep receiving the response "server not responding", "no DNS entry" or "Notes Exception - server error"? Our server is temporarily down. Try again later. These situations are of the utmost priority to us, and we will rectify the problem as soon 30. I have changed my password during my last login, now I am unable to login using the new password?

6 You must have used Remember me option earlier; you must delete cookies in order to login with your new password 31. Can I use SIM card of different service provider other than Tata Docomo? No, the device is locked to the Tata Network 32. In case any alert is not working what can I do? Refer User Manual 33. Can the alerts be sent to more than 1 mobile number? If yes what is the limit? Yes, it supports 2 mobile numbers 34. Does the device have an internal battery back-up? Yes, it has an internal battery 35. What are the device power supply requirements? It requires 12V DC power supply 36. There are too many SMS alerts coming and I do not want to receive so many SMS s. What should I do? How long does it take to install? Installing the SmartCar vehicle tracking system is much like installing a car stereo and will take about the same amount of time, depending upon the make and model of the vehicle.
