1 MARKETING SET-UP SYSTEM This is the process you should use to set up your main newsletter/subscriber list 1) Purchase a monthly subscription to an Marketing Program. Here are some options based on your needs: 1shoppingcart - This is a comprehensive online marketing solution for motivated business owners who want to be ready for fast growth. It includes an unlimited marketing program, management, affiliate management and a shopping cart plus much more all in one place. Depending on which services you want prices range from $34 a month to $99 a month. Everything is integrated which automates your sales and follow up process. Traffic Wave an marketing only solution where the price stays the same no matter how big you list gets. Currently at $17.95 per month. However it doesn t integrate with your shopping cart and affiliate management ConstantContact.com These services are for marketing only. They are fine to start, but as your list grows and you want to send out more s the price goes up. They don t integrate with your shopping cart and affiliate management 2) Create your first autoresponder list Once you have a subscription, go in and create a list. You must name the list (something like newsletter, and then answer the questions they ask you in the list setup. Make sure you list the URL of the thank you page (see # 3 below) where people will be sent after they sign up This is called an autresponder list. Over time you will create multiple lists that you can market to in different ways. You might have one list for newsletter made up of general subscribers, a second list of buyers who you know are willing to buy from you. Additional lists may be people who signed up for information about specific products. Once you know what someone is interested in you can market further products and services in that category. 2 3) Customize the confirmation Some marketing providers insist that each of your lists be double opt in. That means that once someone signs up for your list they will receive a confirmation asking them to click on a confirmation link indicating that they really did subscribe. Once they do this they are put on your list and you can send them s This process means that some people will sign up but not click on the confirmation link and therefore will not be put on your list. To minimize this happening, you need to customize the generic comfirmation you will find in your autoresponder. You may also consider using a service that also allows you to designate some lists as single opt-in, meaning once they sign up, they don t have to confirm. I suggest making the subject line for your double opt-in something like: IMPORTANT: you must confirm to get your report (OR WHATEVER YOUR GIVEAWAY IS) Then write a friendly personal like this. Hi (put in the first name tag) I d like to send you your report (NAME OF GIVEAWAY) immediately. But you simply need to confirm your address first by clicking here-- ( CONFIRMATION LINK) Then please add my address to your address book so your gift doesn t end up in your spam folder. You should receive an with the access information soon after you ve confirmed your . If you don t please contact us right away. Welcome to my online community! All the best, YOUR NAME 4) Create a Thank You page on your website. A thank you page is where people will be redirected once they fill out your opt-in form. Like all web pages this page will have its own URL which you will enter in the list setup form where it asks you where you want people sent after they fill out your form. On this page include the following: Thank them for signing up and requesting your free giveaway or gift (see #5 below) Tell them that they will receive a confirmation and that they need to click on the confirmation link before you can send them access to their gift. 3 check their inbox right away and if its not there they should check their spam folder Tell them to whitelist your address to put it into their address book or on their list of addresses they want to receive from so that your s don t end up in their spam folder Tell them that once they complete this process they will receive an with whatever they need to know to access their gift (a link to a document or web page) Creating a video that explains this is even more powerful. 5) Put an Opt-In form on all your key web pages Once you set up your list, one of options will say something like create form or generate form. You will be able to decide what information to collect from new subscribers. I recommend you require first and last name and ask for a phone number but make it optional. You will be able to click on the options you want and then click on generate form and you will get the HTML code that needs to be inserted on your web pages to create the form. You can send this to your web master if you don t know how to insert it yourself. 6) Create a giveaway gift for people who sign up, including a product graphic This is key. Because people are drowning in information, many are now more hesitant to sign up for a newsletter because they know it means more . However it s much easier to get website visitors to opt-in to receive a free gift of value. Determine what is either the biggest problem your target market wants to solve or one of the most pressing questions they have and make that the title of your giveaway. The TITLE is what will convince them to opt-in. The content will convince them to read your s or buy from you. Plan on something that can be easily downloaded or produced and shipped on demand such as: An e-book or report with a cover, converted to a PDF file Survey results A video or video series ( you can create a hidden web page with the videos) An audio A CD or DVD A mini autoresponder e-course where they receive weekly lessons Have a cover graphic created to make your giveaway look professional. 4 Here is one of my product graphics you can use as an example. Notice the representation of what my buyers get even though it is delivered digitally. GIVEAWAY CREATION TIPS: Start by creating a top 10 list. Then expand and write more about each tip or secret. Write in #12 Font to cover more space and make each tip a separate page. Record your ideas as an audio and have it transcribed Look at past articles, blog posts or worksheets you ve created and see if they can be stitched together to make a great giveaway. Create a webinar or video and load it on a private page in your website The TITLE is what convinces people to sign up. Make sure it states a big benefit your market wants. GIVEAWAY TECHNICAL SET UP PROCESS Convert your written material to a PDF file and upload it to the File Manager in your web hosting service. Get the URL that is created so you can give it to your new subscribers. Create an that goes out to new subscribers once they ve double opted in (clicked on their confirmation link) that will welcome them and tell them how to access their gift. If possible this is where to include the link to the gift if it s downloadable. If it s a video, create a web page where the video(s) can be found and put that web page link in your . 5) Create 4 follow up s that educate, add value and lead to a one time offer. Once subscribers have received your welcome and giveaway it s the ideal time to begin building a relationship. Pre-write a series of 4 or 5 s. Each one should give them a valuable tip - something they could master by buying your product or service. In the final tell them that if they d like to learn how to do what you ve been teaching them you have a special one-time offer to work with you at a special price, or they can perhaps get a trial package or membership that will then convert to a paid membership after 2 weeks or one month. 5 Make this offer an entry level offer. Don t try selling your high ticket items at this time. This is a way to get them to commit to buying from you. Once they do, you can educate them further, give them real value and build a stronger trusting relationship.
