2 Almost every business has some sort of online presence. Whether it's a simple Facebook page or a full-blown website, it's almost a necessity to be online in the modern marketplace. The problem most businesses have with their websites and social media pages is that they serve no purpose. They're there simply because they think they should be. Some are on social media for the specific purpose of generating leads for their business, but they don't know exactly how to take their website or social media page and get leads from it. Whatever your situation, this guide will explain the simple strategies that professional online marketers use to leverage their websites and social media pages to generate leads on autopilot, and how you can leverage the same tools and strategies to generate leads for your own business. 3 The very first thing you need to start generating leads on autopilot is a 'lead magnet'. A lead magnet is something of value that your target audience would be willing to give up their contact information for. This could be something as simple as a coupon for 25% off a product or service, a free e-book download, a special study or report, or access to a free webinar or some sort of educational resource. The important thing to keep in mind is that it should be something that: 1) Your target audience would have an interest in 2) You give away for free 3) Has enough value that they're willing to give up their contact information Private Label Rights If you don't want to create your lead magnet yourself, you can buy the rights to a resource to give away. What you will want to search for is "Private Label Rights" material, or just "PLR" material. PLR materials range from articles and e-books to audio, videos, software, and more. 4 A capture page is the essential component of capturing the contact information of your leads. A capture page is the webpage that your prospects will have to enter their contact information into in order to get the lead magnet. Capture Page Services There are many capture page services that you can subscribe to for a fee. The benefit of these services is that they provide capture page templates that are proven to convert, they are run on fast, reliable servers, and they provide premium features such as A/B split testing, mobile-responsive pages (much of your traffic from social media sites will be on mobile devices), 2-step opt-ins, dynamic elements (such as countdown timers), exit pop-ups, integration with marketing and webinar software, and advanced analytics and reports. 5 Creating Your Own Capture Page The alternative is to create your own capture page on your website. You can often do this with a contact form plug-in. If you already have a website and are on a budget, this is your cheapest option. The downside is that you have to design and create everything from scratch. There is also no split testing or advanced features, and you have to do all of the copywriting yourself. Increasing Conversions Conversion rate (or opt-in rate) is the number of people who see your capture page and opt-in to your offer vs the number who leave the page. The advanced features (especially split testing) are critical to refining your capture page design to increase your conversions. Even the smallest changes can make big differences in your conversion rate. Things like the background on your capture page, the terminology on your 'submit' button, and other small changes can cumulatively increase your conversion rate by 5% to 10% or more. 6 With your lead magnet and capture page in place, you now need to promote your lead magnet and the link to your capture page. Depending on the platform you're on, you will want to do this slightly differently. Promoting On Social Media On social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc, you can simply make a post promoting your lead magnet. The important thing to remember is that you need to be congruent with your post, your capture page, and your lead magnet. In other words, if your lead magnet is a coupon for 25% off lawncare service from your company, don't say on your capture page that they're getting a $25 Visa gift card. The same thing goes for your social media post. You don't want to say one thing in your post and send them to a capture page that says something different. 7 Promoting On A Website Or Blog On your website, there are a few ways you can direct people to your capture page. One powerful method is to write an article that naturally leads your audience to your lead magnet. For example, if you're a real estate agent and your lead magnet is a local foreclosure report, you would write an article about why you might want to consider buying a foreclosure home, and then at the end of the article, give them the link to your capture page for the foreclosure report. 8 Promoting With Pop-Up Boxes Another thing you can do with a website that is statistically proven to increase opt-ins is by having pop-ups. When someone scrolls down a certain amount on your page, is on your page for a certain amount of time, or when they try to exit your website, you can present them with a pop-up that takes them to your capture page. 10 Promoting On Your Homepage And you can always put an opt-in box right on the homepage of your website. Paid Advertising I won't go into too much detail about paid ads because it's such a huge subject, but this is another option for promoting your lead magnet and capture page link. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter offer laser-like audience targeting which make them popular choices for paid ads. 11 If you've ever heard the phrase "the money is in your list", your list is what is being referred to. And an marketing service is the best way to monetize your list. An marketing service is an important part of an automated lead generation system. This is what instantly and automatically sends out a "welcome" when someone opts-in to one of your capture pages. You can use a welcome to deliver your lead magnet, introduce yourself (build trust and rapport), and also to market other products or services. Campaigns An marketing service can also be set up to send out an automated pre-written campaign, which will increase sales and sign-ups. A carefully planned campaign is extremely effective at getting sales and sign ups after the initial opt-in. Broadcast s In addition to automated s, an marketing system can send out 'broadcast' s to your entire list, or to just specific portions of your list. 13 A CRM is yet another important part of an automated lead generation system. A CRM consolidates all customer data into a single database so that it can be easily accessed and managed. When you get a lead, it is important to know which offer they opted into and where they opted into the offer (Facebook post, Blog post, etc). This helps you to know what offers are performing the best and producing the most results and which are not. A good CRM should be able to track this data. In addition to that, a CRM can be used to document any interactions you have with your prospects, rate those interactions, and schedule tasks and follow-ups.
