Introduction and Websites Students at Nerinx Hall High School may earn college credit by meeting the criteria that are established by the institution that is granting credit. Two universities, University of MIssouri at St. Louis, and Saint Louis University, have registration processes and policies that are specific to their institutions. The Nerinx Hall program of studies, page 4, includes a list of courses offered at Nerinx for which students may also register for college credit. Families may access the program of studies at
2 2 Students will receive information about deadlines and processes for the Advanced Credit Program of University of Missouri at St. Louis through their course teachers. Nerinx Hall offers several courses in this program: UMSL ACP: Nerinx Hall Course Titles American Politics Honors Anatomy & Physiology Calculus Honors (may choose to register with 1818 (SLU) or ACP (UMSL) Computers and Information Systems Eastern Cultures Honors Honors Levels III & IV of French, Spanish (may choose to register with 1818 or ACP) Intro to Gender Studies Saint Louis University 1818 program information follows on the next page
3 3 Students will receive s from Mrs. Hermann as well as hear morning show announcements about deadlines for online registration for the program of Saint Louis University. Mrs. Hermann will assist any student seeking helping with the registration process. Spring semester on line registration begins December 15th and ends January 16th. Periodic information will also appear in the Parent Newsletter. The following table shows the Nerinx course titles for which student may enroll for college credit through SLU. Register August to early September Register December 15 to January 16 Advanced Physics Honors AP English Literature & Composition AP English Literature & Composition Calculus Honors French III Honors French IV Honors, 1st semester French IV Honors, 2 nd semester German III Honors German IV Honors, 1st semester German IV Honors, 2nd semester Humanities Honors Innocence & Evil Honors Interdisciplinary U.S. History Honors (1 st semester) Innocence & Evil Honors Interdisciplinary U.S. History Honors (2 nd semester) Interdisciplinary U.S. Literature Honors

Nerinx Hall High School policies related to registration and enrollment. 1. Students may register for courses at Nerinx that are also eligible for college credit if they meet the department requirements for enrollment in the Nerinx course. 2. All tuition payments must be current or students will not be eligible to enroll in college credit class. III. Saint Louis University general information about policies and procedures & link to their page The home page for the Saint Louis University program is: A. Students and parents will find a sidebar with links to information specific to their needs and for access to the Saint Louis University program handbook. The home page also includes the program calendar which students and parents may quickly consult as they have questions about deadlines.
5 5 B. From the student page individuals may view requirements for program participation, directions on how to: register for the first time or as a returning student; pay a bill; reinstate courses for which payment was not received; transfer credits. There is also other valuable information. C. Some important things to know: There are many, so please take time to read information available on the website. Here are just a few highlights: The tuition bill is mailed to the student in the student s name, not the parent s name. Students may drop a class without penalty if they do so by the drop date. See Mrs. Hermann for assistance or follow the directions on line. Grades from courses are calculated into a student s Saint Louis University grade point average. College credits earned through the program are college credits ; an often overlooked consideration is that students must file a request with Saint Louis University to send their college transcript to colleges of their choice in order for the credit to be identified as college credit. Although Saint Louis University s website includes a transferability page, it also states: Students are urged to contact the institution of interest to inquire directly regarding institutional policy for accepting transfer credit from dual credit or concurrent enrollment courses such as 1818 Advanced College Credit. Some courses are accepted for elective credit while others meet specific graduation requirements. Qualifying sophomores may earn credit through level III Honors world languages courses if they are enrolled at Nerinx in those courses, See Mrs. Hermann. Students may register through Saint Louis University for not more than 11 credits per semester. Consequently, students who have some combinations of courses in their semester schedules may need to consider enrolling in some courses through the UMSL ACP program. There are only some courses for which students may make this choice. For example, a student whose schedule for second semester senior year might include: Physics Honors, Level 4 World Languages Honors, qualifying English Honors, and Humanities honors. Such a student would exceed the 11 credit limit through Saint Louis University; however, if one or more of those courses is offered through the UMSL ACP program, the student might register through UMSL for one or more of those courses instead of through Saint Louis University.
6 6 IV. Nerinx course specific registration/credit information for 1818 (SLU) courses Students who are in Honors U.S. Literature or Interdisciplinary U.S. Literature may earn 3 credits for the entire year ; those students will complete their registration in December/January. (See completing the registration process below for registration periods.) Honors/Interdisciplinary History, other designated Honors social studies semester courses, and some other semester Honors English courses may earn 3 credits per semester. Students in Honors Calculus or Honors Physics may earn 4 credits per year. Registration is mid year. Students in Honors level World languages, level 3, may earn 3 credits for junior year. Registration is mid year. Students in Honors level World languages, level 4 may earn 3 credits per semester.
7 7 V. Completing the registration process for 1818 (SLU) courses There are two registration periods: August/September and December/January. The following topics are covered in the order they appear: New Students, Returning Students, Banner ID, CRNs, registration confirmation, passwords, and other fun pieces New Students Students who are registering for the first time will find directions at the Saint Louis University new student information page and can click here to complete a new student application. If the link on the Saint Louis University page or on this page does not work, Mrs. Hermann immediately. She will provide an updated link. The user name and password students use to complete the application are temporary items. (Make note of them in case you don't complete all of the application steps in one sitting.) Items on the new student application that students may not know include: Student social security numbers are optional. High School Code: Students will be asked to provide a course reference number (see below) Students will be asked if they want to use this as a preliminary application to Saint Louis University it doesn't seem to matter; just answer. Students will be asked about the Family Privacy Rights act; they may yes or no. I recommend, yes. Students should send Mrs. Hermann a copy of their confirmation pages by . To do so, choose "Print" from their browser menu; select "Mail as PDF" from the PDF menu in the lower left corner. (Do not provide a paper copy, please.) the pdf to [email protected]. In the subject line, type (student) Last Name, First Name and 1818.
