2 Every year, William Blue College of Hospitality Management invites all aspiring hospitality managers, business managers, event managers, tourism managers and executive chefs to apply for a William Blue Industry Scholarship. Sponsored and awarded by industry, the scholarship program offers the chance of a lifetime ; recipients not only gain an accredited qualification in hospitality but an opportunity to launch their career! Scholarship selection criteria The William Blue Industry Scholarships are awarded to the most deserving students who can demonstrate a passion for, and active interest in, establishing a career in the hospitality management sector. Once shortlisted, applicants are invited to attend an exciting two-day workshop and given the chance to impress future employers first-hand. Throughout the course of the workshop, applicants will take on challenging tasks and asked to give a 10 minute presentation to a small panel of judges that include head executives and general managers from the Sydney hospitality industry; who will mentor and hand-pick the cream of the crop. The successful scholarship applicants will have the skills and attributes to represent the college at a number of events throughout the duration of their studies, become a role model to fellow students and act as a college ambassador. Scholarships available Sydney: 1 x Full Scholarship 4 x Partial Scholarships Brisbane: 1 x Full Scholarship 1 x Partial Scholarship Scholarships will be awarded in the following areas: Hospitality Management (Sydney and Brisbane) Event Management (Sydney) Tourism Management (Sydney and Brisbane) Commercial Cookery (Sydney) Essential Requirements Completed Higher School certificate Australian citizen / Permanent resident ATAR of 60.0 or equivalent if applying for the Bachelor Degree program Desirable Requirements A thorough understanding of the hospitality industry and what it entails A clear interest in the industry, demonstrated through either work or volunteer opportunities Completed HSC Hospitality in Year 12 Endorsement from your Hospitality teacher / employer (if applicable) Achieved acceptable academic results Evidence of formal or informal leadership roles through school or recreational activities Can confidently present in public Application process Application forms needs to be completed and received by deadline of MONDAY, 14th SEPTEMBER Finalists will be selected and notified by MONDAY, 21st SEPTEMBER and invited to attend a two-day workshop on 30th September and 1st October. Documentation required with application form Please ensure that you have included: Completed Scholarship application form Resume A passport sized photograph Endorsement from hospitality teacher / employer or personal references Scholarship stipulations Deferment or withdrawal of studies will result in the recipient forfeiting the remainder of the scholarship (or the entire scholarship if study has not yet commenced) The scholarship recipient will be monitored academically with a performance review at the conclusion of each study period. A failure to meet academic obligations may result in forfeit of the scholarship. Subsequent fees for repeating a failed subject will be the responsibility of the student.
